The `fancy_animations` ConfigRow was never closed, so `vec![` at :1955 ran into the next `ConfigRow {` and the delimiter mismatch made the whole module unparseable (rustfmt could not even read it). 2. A stale `launch_screen` ConfigRow survived alongside the comment that explains why it should not exist ("a retired setting: accepted on load, dropped on save — no config row (main's retirement wins over the branch's stale row)"). The field is gone from `Settings`, so it did not compile either. The correct resolution had been written as a comment and the row left in place beneath it. cargo check -p codewhale-tui: clean. cargo fmt --all --check: exit 0. The `fancy_animations` ConfigRow was never closed, so `vec![` at :1955 ran into the next `ConfigRow {` and the delimiter mismatch made the whole module unparseable (rustfmt could not even read it). 2. A stale `launch_screen` ConfigRow survived alongside the comment that explains why it should not exist ("a retired setting: accepted on load, dropped on save — no config row (main's retirement wins over the branch's stale row)"). The field is gone from `Settings`, so it did not compile either. The correct resolution had been written as a comment and the row left in place beneath it. cargo check -p codewhale-tui: clean. cargo fmt --all --check: exit 0. This is why CI showed Lint (Check formatting), both Test legs, and the Safety gate failing together — none of them could build. fix(web): highlight search matches using the source string's own indices Defect: both search surfaces carried an identical `highlight()` that took `idx` from `text.toLowerCase()` and then sliced `text` with it: const lower = text.toLowerCase(); const idx = lower.indexOf(q); text.slice(idx, idx + q.length) That assumes lowercasing preserves length. It does not — `"İ"` (U+0130, Turkish dotted capital I) lowercases to two code units, so every index after one is off by one. Searching "stanbul" in "İstanbul kurulumu" marks "tanbul " instead of "stanbul": the highlight starts and ends one character late. Turkish is a routed locale (`tr`), and the search haystack is where localized copy is headed. Fix: `highlightSpan()` in lib/search-utils.ts — the module that exists so the search components' pure logic can be unit-tested — folds case one character at a time and keeps a position map, so the three returned pieces are cut at real character boundaries and always reassemble the input exactly. Both components now call it instead of repeating the arithmetic. Scope, honestly: no string in the current haystack contains a length-changing character, so this is a latent bug rather than an observed one. It is still wrong output for valid input, and it was wrong in two places. Evidence: lib/search-utils.test.ts. Restoring the lowercased-index implementation fails "keeps indices in the source string when lowercasing changes length" with `expected 'tanbul ' to be 'stanbul'`. The last case pins both components onto the shared rule. npm test 327 passed, npm run lint clean, npx tsc --noEmit clean. Implemented with agent assistance. This commit lands the scaffold and applies the visual + correctness pass requested by community feedback: - Palette: drop the cream/Anthropic-feel paper (#F4F1E8) for a DeepSeek-aligned cool white + soft gray (#FFFFFF / #F4F6FB), with indigo accents kept. Soften default hairlines so a pure-white background reads clean instead of harsh. - Mobile: add a hamburger menu (mobile-menu.tsx) so phones can reach Install / Docs / Activity / Roadmap / Contribute — previously the link list was hidden on phones with no replacement. Anonymous counting of page, docs, install-copy and download totals is on by default; the privacy page hosts the status and the Turn off / Turn on control, and the footer "Usage data" link points there. The historical storage key is kept so an opt-out recorded under the old opt-in policy stays off, unreadable stored state fails closed, and nothing records an acceptance on the visitor's behalf. The envelope moves to schema 3 / notice 5 to match the runtime and ingest. fix(web): mark one nav link, not two, as the current page Defect: both nav surfaces decided the active link with a plain prefix test — `pathname === l.href || pathname.startsWith(`${l.href}/`)`. Two of the six nav links are ancestor and descendant of each other, `/<locale>/docs` and `/<locale>/docs/guide`, so on the guide route the test was true for both. Docs and Start were rendered active at the same time (`.nav-link[aria-current="page"]::after` draws the underline under both), and two links carried `aria-current="page"`, telling assistive technology the reader is on two pages at once. Every routed locale hits it: /docs/guide is the "Start" nav entry on all 18. Fix: one shared `currentNavHref(links, pathname)` in lib/i18n/links.ts resolves the longest matching href — the page — and both surfaces compare against it. Routes that are not themselves nav links are unaffected: /docs/configuration still resolves to the Docs entry. Evidence: lib/docs-ia.test.ts "marks exactly one nav link as the current page on a nested route" asserts the collision exists for the naive test, then pins the resolved link for every routed locale and pins both components onto the shared helper. Reverting the helper to a first-match/prefix implementation fails it with `expected '/en/docs' to be '/en/docs/guide'`. npm test 313 passed, npm run lint clean, npx tsc --noEmit clean. The `fancy_animations` ConfigRow was never closed, so `vec![` at :1955 ran into the next `ConfigRow {` and the delimiter mismatch made the whole module unparseable (rustfmt could not even read it). 2. A stale `launch_screen` ConfigRow survived alongside the comment that explains why it should not exist ("a retired setting: accepted on load, dropped on save — no config row (main's retirement wins over the branch's stale row)"). The field is gone from `Settings`, so it did not compile either. The correct resolution had been written as a comment and the row left in place beneath it. cargo check -p codewhale-tui: clean. cargo fmt --all --check: exit 0. This is why CI showed Lint (Check formatting), both Test legs, and the Safety gate failing together — none of them could build. feat(web): community site for deepseek-tui.com (mobile + color refresh) (#1108) First commit of the Next.js community site that powers deepseek-tui.com, deployed via Cloudflare Workers / OpenNext. This commit lands the scaffold and applies the visual + correctness pass requested by community feedback: - Palette: drop the cream/Anthropic-feel paper (#F4F1E8) for a DeepSeek-aligned cool white + soft gray (#FFFFFF / #F4F6FB), with indigo accents kept. Soften default hairlines so a pure-white background reads clean instead of harsh. - Mobile: add a hamburger menu (mobile-menu.tsx) so phones can reach Install / Docs / Activity / Roadmap / Contribute — previously the link list was hidden on phones with no replacement. StatusBadge's `label ?` becomes `label ??`, equivalent here because LocalizedText is an object and the parameter is optional. session-media keeps its `isZh` for four hardcoded strings that need a page dictionary rather than a pair; those come with the next group. thinking-trace is deliberately left alone. It exports SCENES, which the terminal-player client component imports, so adding the dictionary import there pulls the whole barrel into the browser: the homepage's first-load JS goes 115 kB to 125 kB. web: Tidal Folio — paper-to-navy site, serif voice, real v0.9.12 capture, consented usage counting The website becomes a folio read under the sea, per the founder's refined direction (codewhale-ops/design/website-20260904/tidal-folio-illustrated- direction.png): Whale Ivory paper and a Newsreader title voice above the waterline, the TUI's own navy and blue below, one drawn element — the strata in components/strata.tsx, geometry from palette tokens, no photograph — and the founder's own v0.9.12 development-build capture floating at the waterline, captioned as exactly that. Design system - :root maps the historical token names to the paper sheet (WHALE_TEXT_BODY ivory, LIGHT_* inks, WHALE_COBALT/COMPOSER for action); one shared rule re-inks every dark subtree (.ocean-column, .site-footer, the opt-in docs dark sheet) with the whale tokens, so components are written once. - scripts/export-design-tokens.py now also exports the TUI's LIGHT_* preset as --light-*; web/app/tokens.css regenerated (64 tokens). - Newsreader (next/font/google) for h1/h2; Plex Condensed keeps h3/h4. - Scroll-reveal removed; the page is complete and static. - Docs default to paper; dark is the opt-in sheet. feat(web): count usage by default and move the choice to the privacy page The website no longer opens a consent sheet. Anonymous counting of page, docs, install-copy and download totals is on by default; the privacy page hosts the status and the Turn off / Turn on control, and the footer "Usage data" link points there. The historical storage key is kept so an opt-out recorded under the old opt-in policy stays off, unreadable stored state fails closed, and nothing records an acceptance on the visitor's behalf. The envelope moves to schema 3 / notice 5 to match the runtime and ingest. Trust page, FAQ, roadmap, and docs/public-surface-facts.json describe the default-on 0.9.12 behavior and name the published 0.9.11 release as the one that asked first. The privacy policy gains an "Anonymous usage counting" section (effective date September 4, 2026). Screenshot provenance records the founder capture's visible build, v0.9.12 (15fe6983bfa5), and the README image becomes a lossless 1136x615 downscale of that same capture. Gates on this tree: vitest 407 passed / 0 failed (47 files); tsc clean; eslint 0 errors (2 pre-existing img warnings); check:locales, check:facts, check:docs pass; clean `next build --webpack` succeeded. Browser check of the production build in EN/ZH at 390x844 and 1280x900 passed with no console errors and no horizontal overflow. Receipt: docs/operating/website-usage-default-on-receipt-20260904.md.
