fix(cli): strip lone surrogates from rendered action-item notes (#20680) action_items_to_markdown renders each action item and the whole document into strings, then writes them with write_text(..., encoding="utf-8"). json.loads accepts an escaped lone surrogate such as "\ud800" from a malformed export, so the code point reached the rendered note verbatim and the write raised UnicodeEncodeError, losing the whole export. conversations_to_sqlite, conversations_to_markdown and memories_to_markdown already drop these code points at their render boundary; this brings the action-items recipe in line. Both render returns now go through one helper, so the single-item renderer and the document renderer are both covered. | 1 month ago

fix(cli): strip lone surrogates before Org syntax guards run (#20681) Stripping only at the payload boundary left a leading surrogate invisible to heading_text, which then skipped its escaping; removing the surrogate afterwards exposed bare Org syntax such as a "[#A]" priority cookie or a [2026-09-25] agenda timestamp. The strip now happens in one_line, before callers inspect the text, and the payload-level strip stays as a backstop. | 1 month ago

fix(cli): strip lone surrogates before todo.txt syntax guards run (#20682) Stripping only at the payload boundary left a leading surrogate invisible to task_text, which then skipped its escaping; removing the surrogate afterwards exposed a bare "x " and exported an open item as completed. docs(python-cli): add Portuguese (pt) agent quickstart guide and discovery link (#14750) Adds agent_quickstart.pt.md matching the structure of agent_quickstart.md and agent_quickstart.zh-CN.md: agent-friendly contract (stable JSON, exit codes, headless auth), the five most common agent operations, the local Desktop API workflow, a worked Python agent loop, rate-limit handling, and tips. Code blocks kept identical to the English guide. Discovery link added in examples/README. | 1 month ago

docs(cli): add Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) agent quickstart guides (#14272) * docs(cli): add Simplified Chinese agent quickstart guide The examples directory ships localized quickstarts for human users but the agent-facing guide (agent_quickstart.md) had no translation, so Chinese-speaking builders driving omi-cli from Claude Code, Cursor, or their own harnesses had to read the English contract to get the JSON/exit-code semantics right. Constraint: docs-only scope per issue #13477; commands, flags, env vars, exit codes, rate limits, and code blocks stay byte-identical to the English source, only prose and code comments are translated. Rejected: Competing on quickstart.zh-CN.md | already covered by #13058/#14029 and several open PRs; #13477 was retargeted to agent_quickstart.md to avoid the duplicate. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: Keep future edits to this file in lockstep with agent_quickstart.md — structure parity is what reviewers check. Tested: Structure parity verified against agent_quickstart.md (16 headings, 20 code fences, 27 omi command lines, 10 code blocks with only comments differing); all flags, exit codes 0-5, and rate-limit literals (120/25/15, 429, 5xx) present; code-level cross-check of exit codes against omi_cli/errors.py and rate limits against omi_cli/client.py; python .github/scripts/check_agent_doc_references.py and check_agent_doc_claims.py both pass. Not-tested: No CLI execution — the guide is documentation-only and changes no code paths. * docs(cli): add Traditional Chinese agent quickstart guide The examples directory shipped a Simplified Chinese translation of agent_quickstart.md but no Traditional Chinese one, so readers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau had to fall back to either English or a script they do not use. The human-facing quickstart already ships both (quickstart.zh-CN.md and quickstart.zh-TW.md); this brings the agent-facing guide to the same coverage. Constraint: docs-only, structure parity with agent_quickstart.md; commands, flags, env vars, exit codes, rate limits, and code blocks stay byte-identical to the English source, only prose and code comments are translated. Rejected: Adding the file under a separate PR | the merged precedent #14219 landed French, Portuguese, and Italian quickstarts in one PR; folding zh-TW into the existing zh-CN branch keeps the Chinese pair reviewed together and avoids a second PR racing the same index lines. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: Keep agent_quickstart.zh-TW.md in lockstep with agent_quickstart.md and with the zh-CN sibling - reviewers diff all three for structural drift. Tested: Structure parity against agent_quickstart.md: 16 headings matching one for one (level and order), 20 code fences, 10 code blocks with 6 byte-identical and 4 differing only in translated comments, 27 omi command lines. All flags, exit codes 0-5, and rate-limit literals (120/25/15, 429, 5xx) present. Ran a scripted check that no Simplified-only characters appear in the file. check_agent_doc_references.py and check_agent_doc_claims.py both pass. Not-tested: No CLI execution - documentation-only change touching no code path. --------- Co-authored-by: xyjk <buchanliang@gmail.com> | 1 month ago

docs(cli): add a conversation-list JSON to CSV recipe (#14276) * docs(cli): add a conversation-list JSON to CSV recipe The examples index covered exporting conversations to Markdown but had no spreadsheet path, so anyone wanting to review conversation metadata in Excel/Sheets had to write their own converter or copy the shortened display table, which drops full IDs and truncates titles. Constraint: docs-only per issue #13669; uses the existing read-only "omi --json conversation list" output and the standard library, so it changes no CLI or API behavior. The example deliberately covers one page and says so. Rejected: Reusing the display table columns verbatim | the table shortens titles to 50 chars and the renderer may drop columns, so the recipe reads the JSON export instead. Rejected: Failing the whole export on one loosely-typed field | the dev API can return a non-string where the CLI models Optional[str]; one odd row must not destroy a 200-row export, so values are coerced and the row is kept. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: The embedded converter is executed by readers, so keep it runnable as written and keep the one-page caveat in sync with --offset behavior. Tested: Extracted the embedded converter from the markdown and ran it against synthetic fixtures: 7-row export with full UUID, accents/curly quotes, embedded newline, formula-like "=SUM(A1:A9)" and "+1 (555) 0100" prefixes, comma+quote escaping, null structured, and a non-string category. Verified UTF-8 BOM, header row, exclusive-create refusal to overwrite (exit 1, original intact), empty array producing headers only, four malformed-input cases failing before any file is created, and the usage error. Also ran check_agent_doc_references.py and check_agent_doc_claims.py (both OK). Not-tested: No live Omi export was run - the recipe is exercised against synthetic fixtures shaped like the documented ConversationSummary fields. * docs(cli): stop the CSV recipe from leaving a partial export behind The recipe wrote straight into the destination with exclusive create, so a failure partway through the export - a lone surrogate raising UnicodeEncodeError on flush, or a full disk - left a truncated CSV under the final name. Because the exclusive create is also what protects an existing export, the next run then refused to touch that partial file, leaving the user unable to recover without deleting it by hand. Constraint: docs-only per issue #13669; the embedded converter must stay runnable exactly as printed in the guide. Rejected: Writing to a temp file and renaming into place | os.replace overwrites silently, which would drop the exclusive-create guarantee that protects an existing export, and hard links are not portable enough for a copy-paste recipe. Rejected: Dropping the exclusive create and overwriting the destination | it would trade a truncation bug for silent data loss on an existing export. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: The embedded converter is executed by readers, so keep it runnable as written; both the exclusive create and the no-partial-file guarantee matter. Tested: Extracted the embedded converter from the guide and ran it against synthetic fixtures. Before the change the lone-surrogate case failed: a header-only never.csv was left on disk and a rerun raised FileExistsError. After the change all 22 checks pass, covering a BOM-prefixed 4-row export with a full UUID, accents, quotes, an embedded newline, nulls and a non-string field; an existing destination refused byte-intact with an explicit message; a lone surrogate raising with no file created and an immediate rerun into the same name succeeding; an empty array yielding the header row only; formula prefixes escaped; and non-array, non-object and malformed structured inputs rejected before any file is created. Not-tested: No live Omi export was run - the fixtures are shaped like the documented ConversationSummary fields. --------- Co-authored-by: xyjk <buchanliang@gmail.com> | 1 month ago

fix(cli): coerce loosely typed records in conversations_to_sqlite ($25 bounty proposal) (#20330) * fix(cli): coerce loosely typed records in conversations_to_sqlite The structured summary and text fields of a conversation export are not schema-validated upstream, so one malformed record aborted the whole SQLite import and every valid conversation in the page was lost. - guard the non-dict "structured" value instead of calling .get() on it - coerce dict/list/scalar fields to storable text via a text() helper - drop unpaired surrogates so values stay UTF-8 encodable - route unparseable and non-string timestamps through text() Coerce rather than reject, matching conversations_to_markdown.py, which already guards the non-dict structured case. * fix(cli): strip surrogates from ids and drop them instead of replacing Three defects found in review of the loosely-typed-record hardening: - strip_surrogates() used errors="replace", which substitutes "?" for an unpaired surrogate and silently alters the imported text, contradicting its own docstring. errors="ignore" removes the code point as documented. - rows_from() bound the id via str(conv_id) without sanitising it, so a lone surrogate in "id" still raised UnicodeEncodeError at executemany. The id is now passed through strip_surrogates like every other field. - utc_stamp() opened with `if not value`, dropping falsy non-string timestamps (0, False, [], {}) as NULL before text() could store them, contradicting the documented "stored as text rather than dropped". The guard now matches None and "" specifically. Adds regression tests for all three: the surrogate test asserts the "?" is absent, the id test asserts the row imports and re-encodes, and the timestamp test pins 0/False/[]/{} to their text form. All three fail against the previous implementation. | 1 month ago

fix(python-cli): escape goal text and stop rejecting names with two dots (#23213) * fix(python-cli): escape goal text and stop rejecting names with two dots The markdown recipe interpolated goal titles, outcomes, subtasks and success criteria raw, so a title containing '**', '[]' or '<b>' broke the checklist line or injected task rows. Escape inline markdown for every user-supplied string. validate_safe_path also rejected any name containing '..' (so 'data..goals.md' failed) while checking a substring rather than path components. Check the components, with Windows separators normalized. fix(cli): strip lone surrogates from rendered memory notes (#20677) memories_to_markdown renders each memory and the whole document as strings, then writes them with write_text(..., encoding="utf-8"). json.loads accepts an escaped lone surrogate such as "\ud800" from a malformed export, so the code point reached the rendered note verbatim and the write raised UnicodeEncodeError, losing the whole export. conversations_to_sqlite and conversations_to_markdown already drop these code points at their render boundary; this brings the memories recipe in line. All three render returns now go through one helper, so the grouped-directory writer and the single-file writer are both covered. | 1 month ago

docs(python-cli): add Hausa quickstart guide and discovery links (#13901) (#13902) * docs(python-cli): add Hausa quickstart guide and discovery links (#13901) Adds sdks/python-cli/examples/quickstart.ha.md, an idiomatic Hausa quickstart following the merged es/ja/ru/tr/bg guides, and links it from sdks/python-cli/README.md and examples/README.md. Commands, flags and program messages stay in English; only prose is translated. Verification: all 34 `omi` command lines checked against the CLI installed from this checkout (subcommand resolves, every flag present in --help); exit codes 0-5 match omi_cli/errors.py, Click parse errors documented as exit 2 (`omi --nope` -> 2), `auth refresh` qualified as OAuth-only. Docs-only; no runtime change. * fix(docs): correct three factual errors in the Hausa CLI quickstart - auth refresh: no current login flow (browser included) produces an OAuth-method profile, so the command always reports "Nothing to refresh" -- it isn't a working step for browser-login profiles. - Pagination: --offset is not universal; goal list only accepts --limit/--include-inactive. - Profiles: the fallback after OMI_PROFILE is the saved active profile, not a hardcoded "default" -- every login rewrites it. docs(cli): correct the Chinese quickstart exit-code tables (#14288) * docs(cli): correct the zh-CN quickstart exit-code table sdks/python-cli/examples/quickstart.zh-CN.md documented four exit codes where the CLI contract has six, and two of the four were wrong: | 1 | 通用错误 (generic error) | should be: usage error | 3 | 网络错误 (network error) | should be: server error (5xx, connection failure) | 4 | missing entirely | rate limited (429) | 5 | missing entirely | not found (404) The authoritative list is omi_cli/errors.py (EXIT_OK=0 ... EXIT_NOT_FOUND=5) and sdks/python-cli/README.md's "Exit codes (stable contract)" section. Code 1 is EXIT_USAGE, not a generic error, and code 3 is EXIT_SERVER, which covers 5xx and connection failures rather than network errors alone. Codes 4 and 5 were absent, so a script following this guide could not tell a retryable rate limit from a terminal not-found. This matters more than a wording nit: the exit codes exist so automation can branch without parsing prose, and a reader who follows the localized guide gets a different contract than the one the code enforces. Constraint: docs-only, translation preserved; only the exit-code table and a pointer to the canonical section change. No CLI or API behavior changes. Rejected: Adding the missing codes without fixing 1 and 3 | the two present rows were themselves wrong, so appending 4 and 5 would have left the table half right. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: This table must track omi_cli/errors.py; the German quickstart has the same defect and is being corrected in #14215. Tested: Scripted cross-check against omi_cli/errors.py - all six codes (0-5) now present, none missing; the README anchor in the new pointer resolves to the real heading; 429, Retry-After, and 404 all appear. Diff reviewed. Not-tested: No CLI execution - documentation-only change touching no code path. * docs(cli): bring the zh-TW quickstart exit-code table onto the CLI contract quickstart.zh-TW.md carried the same four-row table as its zh-CN sibling: it described code 1 as a generic error and code 3 as a network error, and it was missing 4 (rate limited) and 5 (not found). A reader of the Traditional Chinese guide therefore branches on codes the CLI never emits and misses two it does, which is the retryable-versus-terminal distinction the contract exists for. Constraint: zh-TW is the paired translation of the zh-CN file corrected in the previous commit, and the review on this PR flagged its stale table as a natural sibling fix. Rejected: Leaving zh-TW to a separate PR | the same stale table would stay in the file a zh-TW reader opens, for no more review work than fixing it here. Confidence: high Scope-risk: narrow Directive: Both Chinese quickstarts must stay in sync with EXIT_* in omi_cli/errors.py; the README holds the full contract. Tested: Parsed EXIT_* from omi_cli/errors.py and compared them against the exit-code table rows in quickstart.zh-CN.md and quickstart.zh-TW.md: both now list exactly 0-5 with no extras. Confirmed the README heading "Exit codes (stable contract)" exists, so ../README.md#exit-codes-stable-contract resolves. Not-tested: No live CLI run - the codes are read from the defining module. --------- Co-authored-by: xyjk <buchanliang@gmail.com> | 1 month ago
