<p class="para block block-first">Mange plug-in dialog allows you to view, configure, enable/disable <span class="application">StarDict</span> plug-ins.
Plug-ins extends <span class="application">StarDict</span> functionality, they may be independently turned on and off.
Some plug-ins provides a number of options that may be configured via a GUI dialog.
Some settings take effect immediately, other may require restarting <span class="application">StarDict</span>.
List of available plug-in depends on <span class="application">StarDict</span> edition.
If you build <span class="application">StarDict</span> from source, you may permanently disable some plug-ins, they will not be available in the Mange Plugins dialog.
</p>
<p class="para block">Selecting a plug-in in the list activates two functions. You may see plug-in details, clicking on <span class="guilabel">Plug-in Details</span> link at the bottom of the dialog. Here you may see short plug-in description, author, web site and file name. <span class="guibutton">Configure Plug-in</span> button is made available for plug-ins that have configurable options.

<dt class="term dt-first"><span class="guilabel">Virtual Dictionary</span></dt>
<dd>
<p class="para block block-first">A plug-in of this category acts like as a normal dictionary, it returns some information per key phrase, but it does not use a <span class="application">StarDict</span> dictionary. Plug-in may take information from different sources: a database file, OS service, it may generate response on the fly. For example, Man plug-in displays system man pages.
</p>

<dt class="term"><span class="guilabel">Network Dictionary</span></dt>
<dd>
<p class="para block block-first">A plug-in of this category uses a network service or network dictionary as a source of information. Once you type a key phrase into the Search field of the Main window, the plug-in sends a network request to a service. Once response is received, result are displayed in <span class="application">StarDict</span>. You need a working Internet connection for this type of plug-in.

<dt class="term"><span class="guilabel">Special Dictionary</span></dt>
<dd>
<p class="para block block-first">There currently only one dictionary assigned to this category ‒ WordNet dict rendering. It displays results in special interactive widget while other dictionaries produce static content.

<dt class="term"><span class="guilabel">TTS Engine</span></dt>
<dd>
<p class="para block block-first">Text to Speech engines. TTS Engines allows you to "Read" text. Plug-ins of this category do not add any content to the results window. To activate this type of plug-in, you need to click a button or a menu item, then you should hear sound.

<dt class="term"><span class="guilabel">Data Parsing Engine</span></dt>
<dd>
<p class="para block block-first">Plug-ins of the category convert contents of a dictionary into a format understandable by <span class="application">StarDict</span>. Articles of <span class="application">StarDict</span> dictionary may use a number of textual formats, like HTML, XDXF, WordNet, Wiki. In order for <span class="application">StarDict</span> to be able to render the article, data must be converted to Pango text, that is the format <span class="application">StarDict</span> now work with. If you do not have the required plug-in to render the dictionary article, instead of article you'll see a message like this, "XDXF data parsing plug-in is not found!".
