virt: acrn: Replace obsolete memalign() with posix_memalign() memalign() is obsolete according to its manpage. Replace memalign() with posix_memalign() and remove malloc.h include that was there for memalign(). As a pointer is passed into posix_memalign(), initialize *p to NULL to silence a warning about the function's return value being used as uninitialized (which is not valid anyway because the error is properly checked before p is returned). treewide: remove editor modelines and cruft The section "19) Editor modelines and other cruft" in Documentation/process/coding-style.rst clearly says, "Do not include any of these in source files." I recently receive a patch to explicitly add a new one. Let's do treewide cleanups, otherwise some people follow the existing code and attempt to upstream their favoriate editor setups. It is even nicer if scripts/checkpatch.pl can check it. If we like to impose coding style in an editor-independent manner, I think editorconfig (patch [1]) is a saner solution. soc: qcom: qmi: use const for struct qmi_elem_info Currently all usage of struct qmi_elem_info, which is used to define the QMI message encoding/decoding rules, does not use const. This prevents clients from registering const arrays. Since these arrays are always pre-defined, they should be const, so add the const qualifier to all places in the QMI interface where struct qmi_elem_info is used. Once this patch is in place, clients can independently update their pre-defined arrays to be const, as demonstrated in the QMI sample code. It has the format of: __print_array(__get_dynamic_array(array), __get_dynmaic_array_len(array) / el_size, el_size) Since dynamic arrays are known to the tracing infrastructure, create a helper macro that does the above for you. __print_dynamic_array(array, el_size) Which would expand to the same output. [Backport Changes] In samples/trace_events/trace-events-sample.h, within the TP_printk() call, upstream adds a new parameter along with its corresponding format specifier. However, the Euler tree already contains an additional parameter introduced in Euler commit 4613acf848b6de. To maintain compatibility with the Euler-specific behavior while aligning with upstream changes, the existing Euler parameter is retained, and the new upstream parameter along with its format specifier is added in the appropriate position. This ensures correct argument to format-specifier mapping and preserves both Euler-specific and upstream functionality. kbuild: introduce hostprogs-always-y and userprogs-always-y To build host programs, you need to add the program names to 'hostprogs' to use the necessary build rule, but it is not enough to build them because there is no dependency. There are two types of host programs: built as the prerequisite of another (e.g. gen_crc32table in lib/Makefile), or always built when Kbuild visits the Makefile (e.g. genksyms in scripts/genksyms/Makefile). The latter is typical in Makefiles under scripts/, which contains host programs globally used during the kernel build. To build them, you need to add them to both 'hostprogs' and 'always-y'. This commit adds hostprogs-always-y as a shorthand. The same applies to user programs. net/bpfilter/Makefile builds bpfilter_umh on demand, hence always-y is unneeded. In contrast, programs under samples/ are added to both 'userprogs' and 'always-y' so they are always built when Kbuild visits the Makefiles. userprogs-always-y works as a shorthand. For example, it claims to support mask and unmask of INTx, but actually does nothing. It claims to support AUTOMASK for INTx, but doesn't. It fails to teardown eventfds under the full semantics specified by the SET_IRQS ioctl. It also fails to teardown eventfds when the device is closed, leading to memory leaks. It claims to support the request IRQ, but doesn't. Fix all these. A side effect of this is that QEMU will now report a warning: vfio <uuid>: Failed to set up UNMASK eventfd signaling for interrupt \ INTX-0: VFIO_DEVICE_SET_IRQS failure: Inappropriate ioctl for device The fact is that the unmask eventfd was never supported but quietly failed. mtty never honored the AUTOMASK behavior, therefore there was nothing to unmask. Which would all be fine, except for inexplicable reasons glibc decided to define them _differently_ from the kernel definitions, which then makes some of our sample code that includes both kernel headers and user space headers unhappy, because the compiler will (correctly) complain about redefining things. Now, mixing kernel headers and user space headers is always a somewhat iffy proposition due to namespacing issues, but it's kind of inevitable in our sample and selftest code. And this is just glibc being stupid. Those defines come from the kernel, glibc is exposing the kernel interfaces, and glibc shouldn't make up some random new expressions for these values. It's not like glibc headers changed the actual result values, but they arbitrarily just decided to use a different expression to describe those values. The kernel just does #define AT_RENAME_NOREPLACE 0x0001 while glibc does # define RENAME_NOREPLACE (1 << 0) # define AT_RENAME_NOREPLACE RENAME_NOREPLACE instead. Same value in the end, but very different macro definition. For absolutely no reason. This has since been fixed in the glibc development tree, so eventually we'll end up with the canonical expressions and no clashes. But in the meantime the broken headers are in the glibc-2.42 release and have made it out into distributions. Do a minimal work-around to make the samples build cleanly by just undefining the affected macros in between the user space header include and the kernel header includes.
