openGauss Training Partner Certification Standards

I. Purpose

These standards set the rules and benefits for openGauss training partners, standardize the certification process, enhance training quality, and boost the growth of the openGauss ecosystem.

II. Applicability

These standards apply to all organizations that aim to become openGauss training partners, such as training centers, universities, and training departments within enterprises. The standards outline clear certification requirements, duties, benefits, and management rules for these organizations.

III. Definitions

  1. openGauss community: The community aims to build an open-source, collaborative database ecosystem to advance database technology and innovation.
  2. Training partner: A training partner is an organization certified by the openGauss community to offer training and certification. They must follow community regulations and provide high-quality training and support. Certified openGauss training partners are referred to as certified partners.
  3. openGauss logos and trademarks: You must follow these standards, training certification agreement, and openGauss Trademark Usage Regulations when using the openGauss logos and trademarks.

  1. Qualification Requirements
  • A qualified partner must have legal business or education credentials, be an independent legal entity, and be able to take on legal responsibilities.
  • A qualified partner must have professional training venues and facilities, including online learning platforms and certification exam environments.
  • A qualified partner must have at least one full-time trainer with openGauss technical experience. The trainer must meet at least one of the following conditions:
    • The trainer must have the expert or senior engineer certification from the openGauss community.
    • The trainer must have five years or more of experience in the database field and practical openGauss project experience.
  1. Course System
  • A qualified partner should offer a full openGauss training program with application (from basic to advanced), development, and O&M courses to meet various learner needs.
  • The courses must match the official outline from the openGauss community to ensure standardization and consistency. Additionally, partners can expand and optimize courses based on their own needs.
  1. Teaching Quality Assurance
  • A qualified partner should set up a teaching quality monitoring system that includes reviewing course designs, assessing trainer performance, and tracking trainee progress to ensure consistent and improved training.
  • A qualified partner should regularly run teaching quality assessments, gather trainee feedback, and promptly update training courses and methods based on the results.
  1. Marketing Capability
  • A qualified partner should have marketing resources and channels to promote the openGauss training and certification program and attract more potential trainees across fields.
  • Each partner recruits a specific number of trainees each year as stipulated. This target depends on the certification level and local market conditions.

VI. Partner Obligations

  1. Compliance with Community Regulations
  • Comply with all rules, regulations, and policies of the openGauss community, and maintain its legitimate rights and reputation.
  • Do not use unauthorized materials, documents, or exam questions during training and certification. Avoid any actions that undermine the openGauss community's image or interests.
  1. Training Service Assurance
  • Organize training courses based on certification standards and course requirements. Ensure the training courses are complete and accurate to provide a high-quality learning experience for trainees.
  • Answer trainees' questions, provide necessary support and coaching services, and help trainees master openGauss knowledge and skills.
  1. Certification Exam Management
  • Assist the openGauss community in organizing certification exams. Arrange exam registration, venues, supervision, and scoring as per the exam process and requirements to ensure exams are fair, just, and open.
  • Review trainee exam scores carefully to ensure they are genuine and valid. Eliminate fraud or violations.
  1. Feedback and Communication
  • Regularly share updates on the training and certification process with the openGauss community. Include details on trainee progress, teaching quality, and marketing impact. This helps the community stay informed and make timely decisions.
  • Submit new or changed course content or exam questions to the openGauss community for review. Use them only after approval.
  • Join community activities and meetings. Work with other training and certification partners to grow the openGauss ecosystem.

  • The authorization of logo and trademark use depends on the training and certification agreement.

  • Get official training materials, courseware, and case studies from the openGauss community. This ensures the training courses are authoritative and professional, reducing training development costs.
  • Join training sessions, technical workshops, and other activities organized by the openGauss community to boost teaching skills and stay updated on the latest technology and industry trends.
  1. Certification Exam Authorization
  • Get authorization to organize openGauss certification exams. Schedule the exams at flexible times, locations, and formats. This makes it easier for trainees to take the exams and improves the certification efficiency.
  1. Marketing Support
  • Gain more exposure via the openGauss official website, social media, and onsite events.
  • Join marketing activities with the openGauss community, like joint training sessions, tech talks, and industry exhibitions, to grow the market together.
  1. Technical Support and Cooperation Opportunities
  • For any technical issues during training and certification, the openGauss community's tech team is ready to help to keep things running smooth.
  • You have the opportunity to work closely with the openGauss community and its partners on technical and project collaborations. Together, you'll explore how to apply and innovate openGauss in various fields, creating new business opportunities for your organization.

VIII. Certification Charges

IX. Validity Period

  • Certified partners must sign the training and certification contract with Huawei. After signing, they must pass the openGauss community's certification assessment. They will be officially announced in the community after the final review. Their certification is valid for one year from the issuance date.
  • During the validity period, the partner must train and certify according to the community standards and requirements, and accept community oversight. Three months before the end of the validity period, the partner must apply for re-examination and submit required materials to the community. If the re-examination passes, the validity period extends by one year.

X. Partner Re-examination Criteria

  1. Training implementation: During the certification validity period, at least one openGauss training session shall be conducted, with at least 50 trainees.
  2. Training quality assessment: The average score of the trainee satisfaction survey shall reach 80 points or above (full score: 100 points).
  3. Talent recruitment: On the recruitment page for database roles, partners should clearly state that applicants with the OGCX database certification will get priority. This promotes the growth of database professionals.
  4. Community cooperation and support: Partners are expected to actively work with the community for events like tech promotions and case sharing. They should join at least one community event, either online or in person, each year.

11 Termination of Partner Certification

  1. Voluntary termination: If a certified partner chooses to stop the openGauss training and certification business due to their own business changes or other reasons, they can send a written request to the openGauss community to end their certification status. Upon receipt, the community will follow the rules to process the termination and revoke the certificates and logo/trademark use rights.
  2. Termination by the community: If any of the following situations occur during the certification's validity period, the openGauss community can cancel the certification, revoke the certificates, and cancel the rights to use the community logos and trademarks:
  • The partner breaks community regulations and policies, such as by using brand logos/trademarks without authorization, changing course content without approval, or running unauthorized certification exams. This harms the community's interests and reputation.
  • A major quality issue occurs during the training and certification process, such as:
    • The trainee satisfaction score is less than or equal to 60 points (out of 100 points) for two consecutive quarters.
    • The valid complaint rate is greater than or equal to 5% (number of valid complaints/total number of trainees), and the complaint resolution rate is lower than 80%.
    • The certification exam pass rate is lower than 50% for two consecutive times.
    • Rectification: The partner must submit an improvement report and pass a re-exam within 30 days of receiving the rectification notice. If they fail to do so, their certification will be revoked.
  • The partner can no longer continue the training and certification business because of issues like bankruptcy or business license revocation.
  • The partner does not meet the re-examination criteria and fails even after making rectification.
  • Other behaviors that don't meet partner certification standards and damage the openGauss ecosystem's growth.
  1. Post-termination actions: After termination, the partner must immediately stop using openGauss brand logos, trademarks, and authorization certificates. They must not conduct any business as an openGauss training and certification partner. The partner should work with the community to handle follow-up services for trainees, protecting their rights. If the partner's actions cause losses, they must bear legal accountability and provide financial compensation.

XII. Others

  1. Interpretation: openGauss reserves the right to interpret this document and update it as needed, with certified partners notified of the changes promptly. In case of any conflict between the training and certification contract and this document, the contract takes precedence.
  2. Information confidentiality: Certified partners must keep the openGauss community's trade secrets, technical documentation, and other undisclosed information confidential. They must not share this information with any third parties or use it for any purpose other than those specified in this cooperation without written consent.
  3. Cooperation updates: If the cooperation items need changes or additions during the certification period, the partner must agree with openGauss and sign a written supplementary agreement.
  4. Courses and certification system updates: The openGauss community will keep updating the training courses and certification system to match technology growth and market needs. Certified partners are expected to work closely with the community to promptly update their training courses and teaching plans. This ensures that the training and certification services stay current and reliable.
