The openGauss User Committee (UC) connects end users in the openGauss community.

UC Responsibilities

  • Collect technical and product requirements for the openGauss community edition, database releases based on the openGauss community technology, and other open source projects of the openGauss community. Provide feedback to the technical committee and the council, advance the technical roadmap of the technical committee to meet the requirements of end users, and propose market suggestions for the development direction and long-term planning of the council.
  • Sort out user cases of the openGauss community edition, database releases based on the openGauss community technology, and other open source projects of the openGauss community, and cooperate with the branding committee to publicize the cases with the authorization of end users.

UC Members

The UC has one chairperson, who:

  • Convenes and hosts UC meetings, ensuring all participants can freely share their views.
  • Organizes and hosts technical interviews with end users, collects and sorts out the technical and product requirements of end users, and generates reports.
  • Elected by the UC members.
  • Has the same voting rights as other UC members.

The current UC members are as follows:

UC Meeting and Decision-making Mechanism

UC members meet once a month.

  • The chairperson emails all UC members five days before the meeting. The email includes the meeting's location, date, time, method, agenda, and reference materials. This helps members prepare for the meeting.
  • UC meetings are closed-door. A UC meeting is valid only when more than two-thirds of its members attend.
  • All resolutions must be voted on during a UC meeting. Votes are cast openly and by name. Votes are split into Favor, Against, and Abstention. A resolution passes if over two-thirds of the members at the meeting vote Favor. Absent members cannot have others vote for them.
  • Members can continue discussing unfinished topics via the UC's private email list. The chairperson starts the vote by email. Members must reply and vote within five days of receiving the email. If a member does not respond by then, they are considered to have abstained.
  • If the governing board needs to replace a UC member, they must inform the secretariat in writing or by email 30 days in advance. They must also appoint a new member within 30 days after the notification.
