| Vulkan: Optimize performance counters exposure Current implementation calls ContextVk::getPerfMonitorCounters() method multiple times just to get the counter information without also reading the counter values. Counter values are only accessed from getPerfMonitorCounterData(GL_PERFMON_RESULT_AMD) call. Despite this, each ContextVk::getPerfMonitorCounters() call updates counter values unnecessarily, including calling inefficient (linear search) GetPerfMonitorCounter() function for each counter (complexity O(n^2)). This change splits PerfMonitorCounter[Group][s] structures into PerfMonitorCounter[Group][s]Info to store counter names and its counts, while the original structures are only left with counter values. Added const ContextImpl::getPerfMonitorCountersInfo() method which is now used instead of ContextVk::getPerfMonitorCounters() when possible. The ContextVk::getPerfMonitorCounters() method was rewritten to not use inefficient GetPerfMonitorCounter[Group]() functions, but instead use the fact that mPerfMonitorCounters only contains single "vulkan" group where all counters are in order defined by the ANGLE_VK_PERF_COUNTERS_X macro. The functions were removed, since they were only used by this method. The new ContextVk::getPerfMonitorCountersInfo() method simply returns mPerfMonitorCountersInfo structure which is never changes. | Remove PoolAllocator push/pop feature PoolAllocator would manage a stack of memory pools upon client calling push() and pop(). This made the code unnecessarily complicated. The feature was only used with nesting of one, to mark the memory unused after a shader compile. Fix by removing the push/pop feature. Instantiate PoolAllocator in places the previous push() was and uninstantiating instead of previous pop(). This removes the feature where the PoolAllocator would hold on to the allocated memory in order to reuse it. This is seen as a progression: the allocator is held by the compiler, the compiler is held by the shader and each shader typically see only one compile. Thus the free pages were just leaking unused until the shader was destroyed. Instead, destructing the PoolAllocator instead of pop() will donate the memory back to platform/OS, where it is likely more useful. To preserve existing Vulkan behavior, add PoolAllocator::reset() which would mark the memory unused but leave them reserved for the PoolAllocator. Removes UB where PageHeader::nextPage would be accessed after ~PageHeader. EGL 1.5 is the sixth release of EGL. It introduces the following new features (the EGL extension(s) each feature is based on are also shown parenthetically): * Platform support: – Providing a mechanism for support of multiple platforms (such as window systems or offscreen rendering frameworks) in a single EGL implementation at runtime (EGL_EXT_platform_base). Many tests use eglGetPlatformDisplayEXT() which is provided by the EGL extension EGL_EXT_platform_base. With the promotion of the EGL_EXT_platform_base functions to core EGL in version 1.5 and ANGLE supporting EGL 1.5 (as of at least 2019), update the calls to use eglGetPlatformDisplay(). This is in preparation for running the ANGLE end2end tests in Android, which only exposes the EGL 1.5 functions, and not the EGL_EXT_platform_base functions. | Vulkan: Implement imageless framebuffers * Added the attachment image and create info objects to be used for imageless framebuffers created in getFramebuffer(). * New helper class for framebuffers in RenderPassCommandBufferHelper: MaybeImagelessFramebuffer, which includes a framebuffer object, if the framebuffer is imageless, and the image views. This is to make sure that the args for render pass begin info will be correctly set up according to the status of the used framebuffer. * Refactored the collection of attachments in getFramebuffer() into a new function, getAttachmentsAndImagesFromRenderTargets(). It also returns their corresponding ImageHelper* objects used to create the framebuffer (from their image properties). * New struct: RenderTargetInfo; which keeps track of render targets and whether resolve image should be used for the render pass in the form of the enum class RenderTargetImage. * Added a new arg to getFramebuffer(): resolveRenderTargetIn; to use when there is a valid resolveImageViewIn. * Without using the framebuffer cache, we would require to handle the framebuffer destruction by adding it to the garbage instead of releasing it. For example, FramebufferVk::destroy() now adds mCurrentFramebuffer to the garbage. * Added new framebuffer unit tests. * Added tests where two textures with different attributes are bound to the same framebuffer before drawing, one after another. * Added test where a blit occurs from a multisample texture into a non-zero level of a resolve texture, each bound to a separate FBO. * Added a new perf test to compare performance for enabled imageless framebuffers vs disabled. | Autogenerate list of features as enum The WithX() and WithNoX() helpers are removed and replaced with enable() and disable() member functions that take the name of the feature (as a Feature::X enum constant). This has two benefits: - Adding tests that override a feature no longer requires additional helper functions to be written. - There's no mistaking the feature name. This change doesn't yet fix the main issue in anglebug.com/6435, but does fix the following helpers using an old feature name (so they were ineffective): - WithMetalForcedBufferGPUStorage - WithNoVulkanViewportFlip A follow up would remove the old way of overriding features in tests and replaces them with the new way. | Refactor perf tests to fix metric/story swapping Refactors the perf tests to fix the issue of metric and story being swapped, which causes issues when trying to convert to histograms. Specifically, does the following: 1. Rolls the version of src/tests/perf_tests/third_party/perf/ to Chromium 476dae823269c8d05b544271af97ad1adb0db8ee 2. Switch to using PerfResultReporter instead of PrintResult directly. 3. Split RenderTestParams::suffix into backend and story; backend is used as part of the metric, while story is used as the story. 4. Remove the "average" metric that was being automatically reported by ANGLEPerfTest, as reported results are automatically averaged. 5. Update the reported metric to more clearly distinguish between test, backend, and metric. It is now name_backend.metric. e.g. DrawCallPerf_vulkan.wall_time. | Trace/Replay: Add --track-gpu-time command line argument Trace Tests has functionality for tracking GPU time, but it can't be currently enabled. The documentation says that tracking is only enabled in vsync mode, which is not the case. At the same time, tracking GPU time in this mode is a bad idea, since it will also track ANI semaphore waiting, causing GPU frame time to be approximately equal to the refresh rate of the screen. This change adds explicit "--track-gpu-time" argument for the angle_trace_tests command, that enables GPU time tracking. Note: added spaces in run_adb_shell_command is to fix the git cl format quirk.
