cpufreq: fix using cpufreq-dt as module stable inclusion from stable-6.6.80 commit 5d8ba57800a78758414514e79dd64a11400b8f9f category: bugfix issue: #IC1IVT CVE: NA Signed-off-by: zyf1116 <zhouyongfei3@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- [ Upstream commit f1f010c9d9c62c865d9f54e94075800ba764b4d9 ] This driver can be built as a module since commit 3b062a086984 ("cpufreq: dt-platdev: Support building as module"), but unfortunately this caused a regression because the cputfreq-dt-platdev.ko module does not autoload. Usually, this is solved by just using the MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() macro to export all the device IDs as module aliases. But this driver is special due how matches with devices and decides what platform supports. There are two of_device_id lists, an allow list that are for CPU devices that always match and a deny list that's for devices that must not match. The driver registers a cpufreq-dt platform device for all the CPU device nodes that either are in the allow list or contain an operating-points-v2 property and are not in the deny list. Enforce builtin compile of cpufreq-dt-platdev to make autoload work. acpi-cpufreq: Fix nominal_freq units to KHz in get_max_boost_ratio() stable inclusion from stable-6.6.94 commit dbd568a30597a705dced78a8c97aaf78824f1552 category: bugfix issue: #ICCW0G CVE: NA Signed-off-by: Li Nan <linan122@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- commit cb6a85f38f456b086c366e346ebb67ffa70c7243 upstream. commit 083466754596 ("cpufreq: ACPI: Fix max-frequency computation") modified get_max_boost_ratio() to return the nominal_freq advertised in the _CPC object. This was for the purposes of computing the maximum frequency. The frequencies advertised in _CPC objects are in MHz. However, cpufreq expects the frequency to be in KHz. Since the nominal_freq returned by get_max_boost_ratio() was not in KHz but instead in MHz,the cpuinfo_max_frequency that was computed using this nominal_freq was incorrect and an invalid value which resulted in cpufreq reporting the P0 frequency as the cpuinfo_max_freq. Fix this by converting the nominal_freq to KHz before returning the same from get_max_boost_ratio(). cpufreq: Explicitly include correct DT includes The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. cpufreq: Avoid creating excessively large stack frames In the process of modifying a cpufreq policy, the cpufreq core makes a copy of it including all of the internals which is stored on the CPU stack. Because struct cpufreq_policy is relatively large, this may cause the size of the stack frame to exceed the 2 KB limit and so the GCC complains when -Wframe-larger-than= is used. In fact, it is not necessary to copy the entire policy structure in order to modify it, however. First, because cpufreq_set_policy() obtains the min and max policy limits from frequency QoS now, it is not necessary to pass the limits to it from the callers. The only things that need to be passed to it from there are the new governor pointer or (if there is a built-in governor in the driver) the "policy" value representing the governor choice. They both can be passed as individual arguments, though, so make cpufreq_set_policy() take them this way and rework its callers accordingly. This avoids making copies of cpufreq policies in the callers of cpufreq_set_policy(). Second, cpufreq_set_policy() still needs to pass the new policy data to the ->verify() callback of the cpufreq driver whose task is to sanitize the min and max policy limits. It still does not need to make a full copy of struct cpufreq_policy for this purpose, but it needs to pass a few items from it to the driver in case they are needed (different drivers have different needs in that respect and all of them have to be covered). For this reason, introduce struct cpufreq_policy_data to hold copies of the members of struct cpufreq_policy used by the existing ->verify() driver callbacks and pass a pointer to a temporary structure of that type to ->verify() (instead of passing a pointer to full struct cpufreq_policy to it). While at it, notice that intel_pstate and longrun don't really need to verify the "policy" value in struct cpufreq_policy, so drop those check from them to avoid copying "policy" into struct cpufreq_policy_data (which allows it to be slightly smaller). Also while at it fix up white space in a couple of places and make cpufreq_set_policy() static (as it can be so). cpufreq: unify show() and store() naming and use __ATTR_XX Usually, sysfs attributes have .show and .store and their naming convention is filename_show() and filename_store(). But in cpufreq the naming convention of these functions is show_filename() and store_filename() which prevents __ATTR_RW() and __ATTR_RO() from being used in there to simplify code. cpufreq: governor: Fix negative 'idle_time' handling in dbs_update() stable inclusion from stable-6.6.87 commit 62173b2fc2ed3343317efca6c92fcc428053bf80 category: bugfix issue: #IC6IH3 CVE: NA Signed-off-by: zyf1116 <zhouyongfei3@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- [ Upstream commit 3698dd6b139dc37b35a9ad83d9330c1f99666c02 ] We observed an issue that the CPU frequency can't raise up with a 100% CPU load when NOHZ is off and the 'conservative' governor is selected. 'idle_time' can be negative if it's obtained from get_cpu_idle_time_jiffy() when NOHZ is off. This was found and explained in commit 9485e4ca0b48 ("cpufreq: governor: Fix handling of special cases in dbs_update()"). However, commit 7592019634f8 ("cpufreq: governors: Fix long idle detection logic in load calculation") introduced a comparison between 'idle_time' and 'samling_rate' to detect a long idle interval. While 'idle_time' is converted to int before comparison, it's actually promoted to unsigned again when compared with an unsigned 'sampling_rate'. Hence, this leads to wrong idle interval detection when it's in fact 100% busy and sets policy_dbs->idle_periods to a very large value. 'conservative' adjusts the frequency to minimum because of the large 'idle_periods', such that the frequency can't raise up. 'Ondemand' doesn't use policy_dbs->idle_periods so it fortunately avoids the issue. Correct negative 'idle_time' to 0 before any use of it in dbs_update(). cpufreq: Register governors at core_initcall Currently, most CPUFreq governors are registered at the core_initcall time when the given governor is the default one, and the module_init time otherwise. In preparation for letting users specify the default governor on the kernel command line, change all of them to be registered at the core_initcall unconditionally, as it is already the case for the schedutil and performance governors. This will allow us to assume that builtin governors have been registered before the built-in CPUFreq drivers probe. And since all governors have similar init/exit patterns now, introduce two new macros, cpufreq_governor_{init,exit}(), to factorize the code. cpufreq: Avoid creating excessively large stack frames In the process of modifying a cpufreq policy, the cpufreq core makes a copy of it including all of the internals which is stored on the CPU stack. Merge tag 'devicetree-for-6.4-2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/robh/linux Pull more devicetree updates from Rob Herring: - First part of DT header detangling dropping cpu.h from of_device.h and replacing some includes with forward declarations. A handful of drivers needed some adjustment to their includes as a result. - Refactor of_device.h to be used by bus drivers rather than various device drivers. This moves non-bus related functions out of of_device.h. The end goal is for of_platform.h and of_device.h to stop including each other. - Refactor open coded parsing of "ranges" in some bus drivers to use DT address parsing functions - Add some new address parsing functions of_property_read_reg(), of_range_count(), and of_range_to_resource() in preparation to convert more open coded parsing of DT addresses to use them. - Treewide clean-ups to use of_property_read_bool() and of_property_present() as appropriate. If this callback is not implemented (nor round_rate() callback), then the API will assume that the clock cannot set the requested rate. And since there is no parent, it will return -EINVAL. This is not an issue right now as clk_set_rate() mistakenly compares the target rate with cached rate and bails out early. But once that is fixed to compare the target rate with the actual rate of the clock (returned by recalc_rate()), then clk_set_rate() for this clock will start to fail as below: cpu cpu0: _opp_config_clk_single: failed to set clock rate: -22 So implement the determine_rate() callback that just returns the actual rate at which the clock is passed to the CPUs in a domain. cpufreq: Explicitly include correct DT includes The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. cpufreq: sun50i: Convert to platform remove callback returning void The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. However, this also creates a bug where the syscon node is present, however the offset used to read is beyond the syscon defined range. Fix this by providing a quirk option that is populated when such special handling is required. This allows proper failure for all other platforms when the syscon node and efuse offsets are mismatched.
