scsi: iscsi: Add support for asynchronous iSCSI session destruction iSCSI session destruction can be arbitrarily slow, since it might require network operations and serialization inside the SCSI layer. This patch adds a new user event to trigger the destruction work asynchronously, releasing the rx_queue_mutex as soon as the operation is queued and before it is performed. This change allows other operations to run in other sessions in the meantime, removing one of the major iSCSI bottlenecks for us. To prevent the session from being used after the destruction request, we remove it immediately from the sesslist. This simplifies the locking required during the asynchronous removal. Following discussion on linux-next, we believe our version to be more accurate than the one in the tree, so the resolution is to take our version for all the SPDX conflicts" Note on the SPDX license tag conversion conflicts: the SCSI tree had done its own SPDX conversion, which in some cases conflicted with the treewide ones done by Thomas & co. In almost all cases, the conflicts were purely syntactic: the SCSI tree used the old-style SPDX tags ("GPL-2.0" and "GPL-2.0+") while the treewide conversion had used the new-style ones ("GPL-2.0-only" and "GPL-2.0-or-later"). In these cases I picked the new-style one. In a few cases, the SPDX conversion was actually different, though. As explained by James above, and in more detail in a pre-pull-request thread: "The other problem is actually substantive: In the libsas code Luben Tuikov originally specified gpl 2.0 only by dint of stating: * This file is licensed under GPLv2. In all the libsas files, but then muddied the water by quoting GPLv2 verbatim (which includes the or later than language). So for these files Christoph did the conversion to v2 only SPDX tags and Thomas converted to v2 or later tags" So in those cases, where the spdx tag substantially mattered, I took the SCSI tree conversion of it, but then also took the opportunity to turn the old-style "GPL-2.0" into a new-style "GPL-2.0-only" tag. Similarly, when there were whitespace differences or other differences to the comments around the copyright notices, I took the version from the SCSI tree as being the more specific conversion. Finally, in the spdx conversions that had no conflicts (because the treewide ones hadn't been done for those files), I just took the SCSI tree version as-is, even if it was old-style. scsi: core: ata: Do no try to probe for CDL on old drives Some old drives (e.g. an Ultra320 SCSI disk as reported by John) do not seem to execute MAINTENANCE_IN / MI_REPORT_SUPPORTED_OPERATION_CODES commands correctly and hang when a non-zero service action is specified (one command format with service action case in scsi_report_opcode()). Currently, CDL probing with scsi_cdl_check_cmd() is the only caller using a non zero service action for scsi_report_opcode(). To avoid issues with these old drives, do not attempt CDL probe if the device reports support for an SPC version lower than 5 (CDL was introduced in SPC-5). To keep things working with ATA devices which probe for the CDL T2A and T2B pages introduced with SPC-6, modify ata_scsiop_inq_std() to claim SPC-6 version compatibility for ATA drives supporting CDL. SPC-6 standard version number is defined as Dh (= 13) in SPC-6 r09. Fix scsi_probe_lun() to correctly capture this value by changing the bit mask for the second byte of the INQUIRY response from 0x7 to 0xf. include/scsi/scsi.h is modified to add the definition SCSI_SPC_6 with the value 14 (Dh + 1). The missing definitions for the SCSI_SPC_4 and SCSI_SPC_5 versions are also added. scsi: core: Add BLIST_NO_VPD_SIZE for some VDASD Some storage, such as AIX VDASD (virtual storage) and IBM 2076 (front end), fail as a result of commit c92a6b5d6335 ("scsi: core: Query VPD size before getting full page"). That commit changed getting SCSI VPD pages so that we now read just enough of the page to get the actual page size, then read the whole page in a second read. The problem is that the above mentioned hardware returns zero for the page size, because of a firmware error. In such cases, until the firmware is fixed, this new blacklist flag says to revert to the original method of reading the VPD pages, i.e. try to read a whole buffer's worth on the first try. Commit 3cc2ffe5c16d ("scsi: sd: Differentiate system and runtime start/stop management") introduced the manage_system_start_stop scsi_device flag to allow libata to indicate to the SCSI disk driver that nothing should be done when resuming a disk on system resume. This change turned the execution of sd_resume() into a no-op for ATA devices on system resume. While this solved deadlock issues during device resume, this change also wrongly removed the execution of opal_unlock_from_suspend(). As a result, devices with TCG OPAL locking enabled remain locked and inaccessible after a system resume from sleep. To fix this issue, introduce the SCSI driver resume method and implement it with the sd_resume() function calling opal_unlock_from_suspend(). The former sd_resume() function is renamed to sd_resume_common() and modified to call the new sd_resume() function. For non-ATA devices, this result in no functional changes. In order for libata to explicitly execute sd_resume() when a device is resumed during system restart, the function scsi_resume_device() is introduced. libata calls this function from the revalidation work executed on devie resume, a state that is indicated with the new device flag ATA_DFLAG_RESUMING. Doing so, locked TCG OPAL enabled devices are unlocked on resume, allowing normal operation. scsi: core: Remove the cmd field from struct scsi_request Now that each scsi_request is backed by a scsi_cmnd, there is no need to indirect the CDB storage. Change all submitters of SCSI passthrough requests to store the CDB information directly in the scsi_cmnd, and while doing so allocate the full 32 bytes that cover all Linux supported SCSI hosts instead of requiring dynamic allocation for > 16 byte CDBs. On 64-bit systems this does not change the size of the scsi_cmnd at all, while on 32-bit systems it slightly increases it for now, but that increase will be made up by the removal of the remaining scsi_request fields. Commit 3cc2ffe5c16d ("scsi: sd: Differentiate system and runtime start/stop management") introduced the manage_system_start_stop scsi_device flag to allow libata to indicate to the SCSI disk driver that nothing should be done when resuming a disk on system resume. This change turned the execution of sd_resume() into a no-op for ATA devices on system resume. While this solved deadlock issues during device resume, this change also wrongly removed the execution of opal_unlock_from_suspend(). As a result, devices with TCG OPAL locking enabled remain locked and inaccessible after a system resume from sleep. To fix this issue, introduce the SCSI driver resume method and implement it with the sd_resume() function calling opal_unlock_from_suspend(). The former sd_resume() function is renamed to sd_resume_common() and modified to call the new sd_resume() function. For non-ATA devices, this result in no functional changes. In order for libata to explicitly execute sd_resume() when a device is resumed during system restart, the function scsi_resume_device() is introduced. libata calls this function from the revalidation work executed on devie resume, a state that is indicated with the new device flag ATA_DFLAG_RESUMING. Doing so, locked TCG OPAL enabled devices are unlocked on resume, allowing normal operation. scsi: core: Only return started requests from scsi_host_find_tag() scsi_host_find_tag() is used by the drivers to return a scsi command based on the command tag. Typically it's used from the interrupt handler to fetch the command associated with a value returned from hardware. Some drivers like fnic or qla4xxx, however, also use it also to traverse outstanding commands. With the current implementation scsi_host_find_tag() will return commands even if they are not started (i.e. passed to the driver). This will result in random errors with those drivers. With this patch scsi_host_find_tag() will only return 'started' commands (i.e. commands which have been passed to the drivers) thus avoiding the above issue. The other use cases will be unaffected as the interrupt handler naturally will only ever return 'started' requests. Following discussion on linux-next, we believe our version to be more accurate than the one in the tree, so the resolution is to take our version for all the SPDX conflicts" Note on the SPDX license tag conversion conflicts: the SCSI tree had done its own SPDX conversion, which in some cases conflicted with the treewide ones done by Thomas & co. In almost all cases, the conflicts were purely syntactic: the SCSI tree used the old-style SPDX tags ("GPL-2.0" and "GPL-2.0+") while the treewide conversion had used the new-style ones ("GPL-2.0-only" and "GPL-2.0-or-later"). In these cases I picked the new-style one. In a few cases, the SPDX conversion was actually different, though. As explained by James above, and in more detail in a pre-pull-request thread: "The other problem is actually substantive: In the libsas code Luben Tuikov originally specified gpl 2.0 only by dint of stating: * This file is licensed under GPLv2. In all the libsas files, but then muddied the water by quoting GPLv2 verbatim (which includes the or later than language). So for these files Christoph did the conversion to v2 only SPDX tags and Thomas converted to v2 or later tags" So in those cases, where the spdx tag substantially mattered, I took the SCSI tree conversion of it, but then also took the opportunity to turn the old-style "GPL-2.0" into a new-style "GPL-2.0-only" tag. Similarly, when there were whitespace differences or other differences to the comments around the copyright notices, I took the version from the SCSI tree as being the more specific conversion. Finally, in the spdx conversions that had no conflicts (because the treewide ones hadn't been done for those files), I just took the SCSI tree version as-is, even if it was old-style. scsi: scsi_transport_fc: Add an additional flag to fc_host_fpin_rcv() The LLDD and the stack currently process FPINs received from the fabric, but the stack is not aware of any action taken by the driver to alleviate congestion. The current interface between the driver and the SCSI stack is limited to passing the notification mainly for statistics and heuristics. The reaction to an FPIN could be handled either by the driver or by the stack (marginal path and failover). Amend the interface to indicate if action on an FPIN has already been reacted to by the LLDDs or not. Add an additional flag to fc_host_fpin_rcv() to indicate if the FPIN has been acknowledged/reacted to by the driver. The function mpi3mr_qcmd() of the mpi3mr driver is able to indicate to the HBA if a read or write command directed at an ATA device should be translated to an NCQ read/write command with the high prioiryt bit set when the request uses the RT priority class and the user has enabled NCQ priority through sysfs. However, unlike the mpt3sas driver, the mpi3mr driver does not define the sas_ncq_prio_supported and sas_ncq_prio_enable sysfs attributes, so the ncq_prio_enable field of struct mpi3mr_sdev_priv_data is never actually set and NCQ Priority cannot ever be used. Fix this by defining these missing atributes to allow a user to check if an ATA device supports NCQ priority and to enable/disable the use of NCQ priority. To do this, lift the function scsih_ncq_prio_supp() out of the mpt3sas driver and make it the generic SCSI SAS transport function sas_ata_ncq_prio_supported(). Nothing in that function is hardware specific, so this function can be used in both the mpt3sas driver and the mpi3mr driver.
