delayacct: track delays from IRQ/SOFTIRQ Delay accounting does not track the delay of IRQ/SOFTIRQ. While IRQ/SOFTIRQ could have obvious impact on some workloads productivity, such as when workloads are running on system which is busy handling network IRQ/SOFTIRQ. Get the delay of IRQ/SOFTIRQ could help users to reduce such delay. Such as setting interrupt affinity or task affinity, using kernel thread for NAPI etc. This is inspired by "sched/psi: Add PSI_IRQ to track IRQ/SOFTIRQ pressure"[1]. Also fix some code indent problems of older code. KVM: x86: Introduce support for Zhaoxin ZXPAUSE instruction zhaoxin inclusion category: feature -------------------- This patch introduces support for the ZXPAUSE instruction, a new addition akin to Intel's TPAUSE. Two primary distinctions set apart ZXPAUSE from TPAUSE: 1. ZXPAUSE utilizes a delta tsc, determined from the lesser value between (MSR_ZX_PAUSE_CONTROL[31:2] << 2) and the EDX:EAX input to the ZXPAUSE instruction, subtracted from the current tsc value. In contrast, TPAUSE employs a target tsc, computed from the lesser value between (MSR_IA32_UMWAIT_CONTROL[31:2] << 2) and the EDX:EAX input to the TPAUSE instruction. 2. As of now, ZXPAUSE exclusively supports the C0.1 optimization state, whereas TPAUSE potentially extends support to both C0.1 and C0.2. Successful integration of this patch hinges on QEMU's backing for ZXPAUSE, a contribution we're currently forwarding to QEMU. It also requires the preceding patch in this patchset, which offers Linux kernel support for ZXPAUSE. The choice of the name "vmx->msr_ia32_umwait_control" is deliberate. In patches for other Linux versions (e.g., 5.5), a "vmx->msr_ia32_umwait_control" already exists. By sharing this variable name with Intel, it ensures compatibility. The difference is merely software-based and poses no real-world conflicts. Currently, if the Guest writes to the ZXPAUSE/TPAUSE CONTROL MSR, we simply bypass the WRMSR instruction. If the Guest attempts to use ZXPAUSE/TPAUSE to transition the vCPU into an optimized state, it will succeed, with the duration of the optimized state being the value passed in EDX:EAX. tools/certs: Add print-cert-tbs-hash.sh Add a new helper print-cert-tbs-hash.sh to generate a TBSCertificate hash from a given certificate. This is useful to generate a blacklist key description used to forbid loading a specific certificate in a keyring, or to invalidate a certificate provided by a PKCS#7 file. This kind of hash formatting is required to populate the file pointed out by CONFIG_SYSTEM_BLACKLIST_HASH_LIST, but only the kernel code was available to understand how to effectively create such hash. tools/hv: fcopy: Fix irregularities with size of ring buffer commit a4131a50d072b369bfed0b41e741c41fd8048641 upstream. Size of ring buffer, as defined in uio_hv_generic driver, is no longer fixed to 16 KB. This creates a problem in fcopy, since this size was hardcoded. With the change in place to make ring sysfs node actually reflect the size of underlying ring buffer, it is safe to get the size of ring sysfs file and use it for ring buffer size in fcopy daemon. Fix the issue of disparity in ring buffer size, by making it dynamic in fcopy uio daemon. tools/nolibc: make time_t robust if __kernel_old_time_t is missing in host headers [ Upstream commit 0ff52df6b32a6b04a7c9dfe3d7a387aff215b482 ] Commit d5094bcb5bfd ("tools/nolibc: define time_t in terms of __kernel_old_time_t") made nolibc use the kernel's time type so that time_t matches timespec::tv_sec on all ABIs (notably x32). But since __kernel_old_time_t is fairly new, notably from 2020 in commit 94c467ddb273 ("y2038: add __kernel_old_timespec and __kernel_old_time_t"), nolibc builds that rely on host headers may fail. Switch to __kernel_time_t, which is the same as __kernel_old_time_t and has existed for longer. tools/kvm_stat: use canonical ftrace path The canonical location for the tracefs filesystem is at /sys/kernel/tracing. But, from Documentation/trace/ftrace.rst: Before 4.1, all ftrace tracing control files were within the debugfs file system, which is typically located at /sys/kernel/debug/tracing. For backward compatibility, when mounting the debugfs file system, the tracefs file system will be automatically mounted at: /sys/kernel/debug/tracing A comment in kvm_stat still refers to this older debugfs path, so let's update it to avoid confusion. objtool/LoongArch: Add support for goto table The objtool program need to analysis the control flow of each object file generated by compiler toolchain, it needs to know all the locations that a branch instruction may jump into, if a jump table is used, objtool has to correlate the jump instruction with the table. On x86 (which is the only port supported by objtool before LoongArch), there is a relocation type on the jump instruction and directly points to the table. But on LoongArch, the relocation is on another kind of instruction prior to the jump instruction, and also with scheduling it is not very easy to tell the offset of that instruction from the jump instruction. Furthermore, because LoongArch has -fsection-anchors (often enabled at -O1 or above) the relocation may actually points to a section anchor instead of the table itself. For the jump table of switch cases, a GCC patch "LoongArch: Add support to annotate tablejump" and a Clang patch "[LoongArch] Add options for annotate tablejump" have been merged into the upstream mainline, it can parse the additional section ".discard.tablejump_annotate" which stores the jump info as pairs of addresses, each pair contains the address of jump instruction and the address of jump table. For the jump table of computed gotos, it is indeed not easy to implement in the compiler, especially if there is more than one computed goto in a function such as ___bpf_prog_run(). objdump kernel/bpf/core.o shows that there are many table jump instructions in ___bpf_prog_run(), but there are no relocations on the table jump instructions and to the table directly on LoongArch. Without the help of compiler, in order to figure out the address of goto table for the special case of ___bpf_prog_run(), since the instruction sequence is relatively single and stable, it makes sense to add a helper find_reloc_of_rodata_c_jump_table() to find the relocation which points to the section ".rodata..c_jump_table". If find_reloc_by_table_annotate() failed, it means there is no relocation info of switch table address in ".rela.discard.tablejump_annotate", then objtool may find the relocation info of goto table ".rodata..c_jump_table" with find_reloc_of_rodata_c_jump_table(). ASoC: dapm-graph: set fill colour of turned on nodes [ Upstream commit d31babd7e304d3b800d36ff74be6739405b985f2 ] Some tools like KGraphViewer interpret the "ON" nodes not having an explicitly set fill colour as them being entirely black, which obscures the text on them and looks funny. In fact, I thought they were off for the longest time. Comparing to the output of the dot tool, I assume they are supposed to be white. Instead of speclawyering over who's in the wrong and must immediately atone for their wickedness at the altar of RFC2119, just be explicit about it, set the fillcolor to white, and nobody gets confused. sched_ext: Add scx_simple and scx_example_qmap example schedulers Add two simple example BPF schedulers - simple and qmap. * simple: In terms of scheduling, it behaves identical to not having any operation implemented at all. The two operations it implements are only to improve visibility and exit handling. On certain homogeneous configurations, this actually can perform pretty well. * qmap: A fixed five level priority scheduler to demonstrate queueing PIDs on BPF maps for scheduling. While not very practical, this is useful as a simple example and will be used to demonstrate different features. v7: - Compat helpers stripped out in prepartion of upstreaming as the upstreamed patchset will be the baselinfe. Utility macros that can be used to implement compat features are kept. - Explicitly disable map autoattach on struct_ops to avoid trying to attach twice while maintaining compatbility with older libbpf. v6: - Common header files reorganized and cleaned up. Compat helpers are added to demonstrate how schedulers can maintain backward compatibility with older kernels while making use of newly added features. - simple_select_cpu() added to keep track of the number of local dispatches. This is needed because the default ops.select_cpu() implementation is updated to dispatch directly and won't call ops.enqueue(). - Updated to reflect the sched_ext API changes. Switching all tasks is the default behavior now and scx_qmap supports partial switching when -p is specified. - tools/sched_ext/Kconfig dropped. This will be included in the doc instead. v5: - Improve Makefile. Build artifects are now collected into a separate dir which change be changed. Install and help targets are added and clean actually cleans everything. - MEMBER_VPTR() improved to improve access to structs. ARRAY_ELEM_PTR() and RESIZEABLE_ARRAY() are added to support resizable arrays in .bss. - Add scx_common.h which provides common utilities to user code such as SCX_BUG[_ON]() and RESIZE_ARRAY(). - Use SCX_BUG[_ON]() to simplify error handling. v4: - Dropped _example prefix from scheduler names. v3: - Rename scx_example_dummy to scx_example_simple and restructure a bit to ease later additions. Comment updates. - Added declarations for BPF inline iterators. In the future, hopefully, these will be consolidated into a generic BPF header so that they don't need to be replicated here. v2: - Updated with the generic BPF cpumask helpers.
