tls: rx: async: hold onto the input skb Async crypto currently benefits from the fact that we decrypt in place. When we allow input and output to be different skbs we will have to hang onto the input while we move to the next record. Clone the inputs and keep them on a list. net: tls: fix strparser anchor skb leak on offload RX setup failure [ Upstream commit 58689498ca3384851145a754dbb1d8ed1cf9fb54 ] When tls_set_device_offload_rx() fails at tls_dev_add(), the error path calls tls_sw_free_resources_rx() to clean up the SW context that was initialized by tls_set_sw_offload(). This function calls tls_sw_release_resources_rx() (which stops the strparser via tls_strp_stop()) and tls_sw_free_ctx_rx() (which kfrees the context), but never frees the anchor skb that was allocated by alloc_skb(0) in tls_strp_init(). Note that tls_sw_free_resources_rx() is exclusively used for this "failed to start offload" code path, there's no other caller. The leak did not exist before commit 84c61fe1a75b ("tls: rx: do not use the standard strparser"), because the standard strparser doesn't try to pre-allocate an skb. The normal close path in tls_sk_proto_close() handles cleanup by calling tls_sw_strparser_done() (which calls tls_strp_done()) after dropping the socket lock, because tls_strp_done() does cancel_work_sync() and the strparser work handler takes the socket lock. tls: Use __sk_dst_get() and dst_dev_rcu() in get_netdev_for_sock(). commit c65f27b9c3be2269918e1cbad6d8884741f835c5 upstream. get_netdev_for_sock() is called during setsockopt(), so not under RCU. Using sk_dst_get(sk)->dev could trigger UAF. Let's use __sk_dst_get() and dst_dev_rcu(). Note that the only ->ndo_sk_get_lower_dev() user is bond_sk_get_lower_dev(), which uses RCU. tls: expand use of tls_cipher_desc in tls_sw_fallback_init tls_sw_fallback_init already gets the key and tag size from tls_cipher_desc. We can now also check that the cipher type is valid, and stop hard-coding the algorithm name passed to crypto_alloc_aead. tls: always set record_type in tls_process_cmsg [ Upstream commit b6fe4c29bb51cf239ecf48eacf72b924565cb619 ] When userspace wants to send a non-DATA record (via the TLS_SET_RECORD_TYPE cmsg), we need to send any pending data from a previous MSG_MORE send() as a separate DATA record. If that DATA record is encrypted asynchronously, tls_handle_open_record will return -EINPROGRESS. This is currently treated as an error by tls_process_cmsg, and it will skip setting record_type to the correct value, but the caller (tls_sw_sendmsg_locked) handles that return value correctly and proceeds with sending the new message with an incorrect record_type (DATA instead of whatever was requested in the cmsg). Always set record_type before handling the open record. If tls_handle_open_record returns an error, record_type will be ignored. If it succeeds, whether with synchronous crypto (returning 0) or asynchronous (returning -EINPROGRESS), the caller will proceed correctly. net/tls: Consume empty data records in tls_sw_read_sock() [ Upstream commit 3be28e2c9cd0230cb51fd4967df095273afd3848 ] A peer may send a zero-length TLS application_data record; TLS 1.3 explicitly permits these as a traffic-analysis countermeasure (RFC 8446, Section 5.1). After decryption such a record has full_len == 0. tls_sw_read_sock() hands it to the read_actor, which has no payload to consume and returns zero. The loop treats a zero return as backpressure (used <= 0), requeues the skb at the head of rx_list, and stops. rx_list is serviced head-first on the next call, so the empty record is dequeued, fails the same way, and is requeued again; every later record on the connection is blocked behind it. tls_sw_recvmsg() does not stall on this: a zero-length data record copies nothing and falls through to consume_skb(). Mirror that in the read_sock() path by recognizing an empty data record before the actor runs, consuming it, and continuing. tls: create an internal header include/net/tls.h is getting a little long, and is probably hard for driver authors to navigate. Split out the internals into a header which will live under net/tls/. net/tls: add device decrypted trace point Add a tracepoint to the TLS offload's fast path. This tracepoint can be used to track the decrypted and encrypted status of received records. Records decrypted by the device should have decrypted set to 1, records which have neither decrypted nor decrypted set are partially decrypted, require re-encryption and therefore are most expensive to deal with.
