6lowpan: fix off-by-one in multicast context address compression [ Upstream commit 2a58899d11009bffc7b4b32a571858f381121837 ] The second memcpy in lowpan_iphc_mcast_ctx_addr_compress() uses &data[1] as destination and &ipaddr->s6_addr[11] as source, but both should be offset by one: &data[2] and &ipaddr->s6_addr[12] respectively. This off-by-one has two consequences: 1. data[1] is overwritten with s6_addr[11], corrupting the RIID field in the compressed multicast address 2. data[5] is never written, so uninitialized kernel stack memory is transmitted over the network via lowpan_push_hc_data(), leaking kernel stack contents The correct inline data layout must match what the decompression function lowpan_uncompress_multicast_ctx_daddr() expects: data[0..1] = s6_addr[1..2] (flags/scope + RIID) data[2..5] = s6_addr[12..15] (group ID) Also zero-initialize the data array as a defensive measure against similar bugs in the future. net/802/mrp: fix vector attribute parsing in mrp_pdu_parse_vecattr [ Upstream commit 7561c7fbc694308da73300f036719e63e42bf0b4 ] In mrp_pdu_parse_vecattr(), vector attribute events are encoded three per byte and valen tracks the number of events left to process. The parser decrements valen after processing the first and second events from each event byte, but not after processing the third one. When valen is exactly a multiple of three, the loop continues after the last valid event and consumes the next byte as a new event byte, applying a spurious event to the MRP applicant state. Additionally, when valen is zero the parser unconditionally consumes attrlen bytes as FirstValue and advances the offset, even though per IEEE 802.1ak a VectorAttribute with only a LeaveAllEvent has valen of zero and no FirstValue or Vector fields. This corrupts the offset for subsequent PDU parsing. Also, when valen exceeds three the loop crosses byte boundaries but the attribute value is not incremented between the last event of one byte and the first event of the next. This causes the first event of the next byte to use the same attribute value as the third event rather than the next consecutive value. Decrement valen after processing the third event, skip FirstValue consumption when valen is zero, and increment the attribute value at the end of each loop iteration. net: vlan: sync VLAN features with lower device [ Upstream commit c211f5d7cbd5cb34489d526648bb9c8ecc907dee ] After registering a VLAN device and setting its feature flags, we need to synchronize the VLAN features with the lower device. For example, the VLAN device does not have the NETIF_F_LRO flag, it should be synchronized with the lower device based on the NETIF_F_UPPER_DISABLES definition. As the dev->vlan_features has changed, we need to call netdev_update_features(). The caller must run after netdev_upper_dev_link() links the lower devices, so this patch adds the netdev_update_features() call in register_vlan_dev(). 9p: avoid putting oldfid in p9_client_walk() error path commit 1a3860d46e3eb47dbd60339783cdad7904486b9f upstream. When p9_client_walk() is called with clone set to false, fid aliases oldfid. If the walk subsequently fails after the request has been sent, the error path jumps to clunk_fid, which currently calls p9_fid_put(fid) unconditionally. This drops a reference to oldfid even though ownership of oldfid remains with the caller. If this is the last reference, oldfid can be clunked and destroyed while the caller still expects it to be valid. A later use or put of oldfid can then trigger a use-after-free or refcount underflow. Fix this by only putting fid in the clunk_fid error path when it does not alias oldfid, matching the existing guard in the error path below. This can be triggered when a multi-component walk is split into multiple p9_client_walk() calls and a later non-cloning walk fails. A reproducer and refcount warning logs are available on request. atm: lec: fix use-after-free in sock_def_readable() [ Upstream commit 922814879542c2e397b0e9641fd36b8202a8e555 ] A race condition exists between lec_atm_close() setting priv->lecd to NULL and concurrent access to priv->lecd in send_to_lecd(), lec_handle_bridge(), and lec_atm_send(). When the socket is freed via RCU while another thread is still using it, a use-after-free occurs in sock_def_readable() when accessing the socket's wait queue. The root cause is that lec_atm_close() clears priv->lecd without any synchronization, while callers dereference priv->lecd without any protection against concurrent teardown. Fix this by converting priv->lecd to an RCU-protected pointer: - Mark priv->lecd as __rcu in lec.h - Use rcu_assign_pointer() in lec_atm_close() and lecd_attach() for safe pointer assignment - Use rcu_access_pointer() for NULL checks that do not dereference the pointer in lec_start_xmit(), lec_push(), send_to_lecd() and lecd_attach() - Use rcu_read_lock/rcu_dereference/rcu_read_unlock in send_to_lecd(), lec_handle_bridge() and lec_atm_send() to safely access lecd - Use rcu_assign_pointer() followed by synchronize_rcu() in lec_atm_close() to ensure all readers have completed before proceeding. This is safe since lec_atm_close() is called from vcc_release() which holds lock_sock(), a sleeping lock. - Remove the manual sk_receive_queue drain from lec_atm_close() since vcc_destroy_socket() already drains it after lec_atm_close() returns. v2: Switch from spinlock + sock_hold/put approach to RCU to properly fix the race. The v1 spinlock approach had two issues pointed out by Eric Dumazet: 1. priv->lecd was still accessed directly after releasing the lock instead of using a local copy. 2. The spinlock did not prevent packets being queued after lec_atm_close() drains sk_receive_queue since timer and workqueue paths bypass netif_stop_queue(). Note: Syzbot patch testing was attempted but the test VM terminated unexpectedly with "Connection to localhost closed by remote host", likely due to a QEMU AHCI emulation issue unrelated to this fix. Compile testing with "make W=1 net/atm/lec.o" passes cleanly. This is done with a BUILD_BUG_ON where ax25_param_table is defined and a CONFIG_AX25_DAMA_SLAVE guard in the unnamed enum definition as well as in the ax25_dev_device_up and ax25_ds_set_timer functions. The overflow happened when the sentinel was removed from ax25_param_table. The sentinel's data element was changed when CONFIG_AX25_DAMA_SLAVE was undefined. This had no adverse effects as it still stopped on the sentinel's null procname but needed to be addressed once the sentinel was removed. batman-adv: tvlv: avoid race of cifsnotfound handler state commit edb557b2ba38fea2c5eb710cf366c797e187218c upstream. TVLV handlers can have the flag BATADV_TVLV_HANDLER_OGM_CIFNOTFND set to signal that the OGM handler should be called (with NULL for data) when the specific TVLV container was not found in the OGM. This is used by: * DAT * GW * Multicast (OGM + Tracker) The state whether the handler was executed was stored in the struct batadv_tvlv_handler. But the TVLV processing is started without any lock. Multiple parallel contexts processing TVLVs would therefore overwrite each others BATADV_TVLV_HANDLER_OGM_CALLED flag in the shared batadv_tvlv_handler. Drop the shared BATADV_TVLV_HANDLER_OGM_CALLED flag and instead determine, per TVLV buffer, whether a matching container was present by scanning the packet's buffer. Bluetooth: L2CAP: reject BR/EDR signaling packets over MTUsig commit dd214733544427587a95f66dbf3adff072568990 upstream. net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:l2cap_sig_channel() accepts BR/EDR signaling packets up to the channel MTU and dispatches each command without enforcing the signaling MTU (MTUsig). A Bluetooth BR/EDR peer within radio range can send a fixed-channel CID 0x0001 packet that is larger than MTUsig and contains many L2CAP_ECHO_REQ commands before pairing. In a real-radio stock-kernel run, one 681-byte signaling packet containing 168 zero-length ECHO_REQ commands made the target transmit 168 ECHO_RSP frames over about 220 ms. Impact: a Bluetooth BR/EDR peer within radio range, before pairing, can force 168 ECHO_RSP frames from one 681-byte fixed-channel signaling packet containing packed ECHO_REQ commands. Define Linux's BR/EDR signaling MTU as the spec minimum of 48 bytes and reject any larger signaling packet with one L2CAP_COMMAND_REJECT_RSP carrying L2CAP_REJ_MTU_EXCEEDED before any command is dispatched. The Bluetooth Core spec wording for MTUExceeded says the reject identifier shall match the first request command in the packet, and that packets containing only responses shall be silently discarded. Linux intentionally deviates from that prescription: silently discarding desynchronizes the peer because the remote stack never learns its responses were dropped, and locating the first request command requires walking command headers past MTUsig, i.e. processing bytes from a packet we have already decided is too large to process. We therefore always emit one reject and use the identifier from the first command header, a single fixed-offset byte read. The unrestricted BR/EDR signaling parser and ECHO_REQ response path both trace to the initial git import; no later introducing commit is available for a Fixes tag. bpf: reject short IPv4/IPv6 inputs in bpf_prog_test_run_skb [ Upstream commit 12bec2bd4b76d81c5d3996bd14ec1b7f4d983747 ] bpf_prog_test_run_skb() calls eth_type_trans() first and then uses skb->protocol to initialize sk family and address fields for the test run. For IPv4 and IPv6 packets, it may access ip_hdr(skb) or ipv6_hdr(skb) even when the provided test input only contains an Ethernet header. Reject the input earlier if the Ethernet frame carries IPv4/IPv6 EtherType but the L3 header is too short. Fold the IPv4/IPv6 header length checks into the existing protocol switch and return -EINVAL before accessing the network headers. netfilter: bridge: make ebt_snat ARP rewrite writable [ Upstream commit 67ba971ae02514d85818fe0c32549ab4bfa3bf49 ] The ebtables SNAT target keeps the Ethernet source address rewrite behind skb_ensure_writable(skb, 0). This is intentional: at the bridge ebtables hooks the Ethernet header is addressed through skb_mac_header()/eth_hdr(), while skb->data points at the Ethernet payload. Asking skb_ensure_writable() for ETH_HLEN bytes would check the payload, not the Ethernet header, and would reintroduce the small packet regression fixed by commit 63137bc5882a. However, the optional ARP sender hardware address rewrite is different. It writes through skb_store_bits() at an offset relative to skb->data: skb_store_bits(skb, sizeof(struct arphdr), info->mac, ETH_ALEN) skb_header_pointer() only safely reads the ARP header; it does not make the later sender hardware address range writable. If that range is still held in a nonlinear skb fragment backed by a splice-imported file page, skb_store_bits() maps the frag page and copies the new MAC address directly into it. Ensure the ARP SHA range is writable before reading the ARP header and before calling skb_store_bits(). net: caif: clear client service pointer on teardown commit f7cf8ece8cee3c1ee361991470cdb1eb65ab02e8 upstream. caif_connect() can tear down an existing client after remote shutdown by calling caif_disconnect_client() followed by caif_free_client(). caif_free_client() releases the service layer referenced by adap_layer->dn, but leaves that pointer stale. When the socket is later destroyed, caif_sock_destructor() calls caif_free_client() again and dereferences the freed service pointer. can: raw: fix ro->uniq use-after-free in raw_rcv() commit a535a9217ca3f2fccedaafb2fddb4c48f27d36dc upstream. raw_release() unregisters raw CAN receive filters via can_rx_unregister(), but receiver deletion is deferred with call_rcu(). This leaves a window where raw_rcv() may still be running in an RCU read-side critical section after raw_release() frees ro->uniq, leading to a use-after-free of the percpu uniq storage. Move free_percpu(ro->uniq) out of raw_release() and into a raw-specific socket destructor. can_rx_unregister() takes an extra reference to the socket and only drops it from the RCU callback, so freeing uniq from sk_destruct ensures the percpu area is not released until the relevant callbacks have drained. libceph: handle rbtree insertion error in decode_choose_args() commit d289478cfc0bcf81c7914200d6abdcb78bd04ded upstream. A message of type CEPH_MSG_OSD_MAP contains an OSD map that itself contains a CRUSH map. The received CRUSH map may optionally contain choose_args that get decoded in decode_choose_args(). In this function, num_choose_arg_maps is read from the message, and a corresponding number of crush_choose_arg_maps gets decoded afterwards. Each crush_choose_arg_map has a choose_args_index, which serves as the key when inserting it into the choose_args rbtree of the decoded crush_map. If a (potentially corrupted) message contains two crush_choose_arg_maps with the same index, the assertion in insert_choose_arg_map() triggers a kernel BUG when trying to insert the second crush_choose_arg_map. This patch fixes the issue by switching to the non-asserting rbtree insertion function and rejecting the message if the insertion fails. devlink: rate: Unset parent pointer in devl_rate_nodes_destroy [ Upstream commit f94c1a114ac209977bdf5ca841b98424295ab1f0 ] The function devl_rate_nodes_destroy is documented to "Unset parent for all rate objects". However, it was only calling the driver-specific rate_leaf_parent_set or rate_node_parent_set ops and decrementing the parent's refcount, without actually setting the devlink_rate->parent pointer to NULL. This leaves a dangling pointer in the devlink_rate struct, which cause refcount error in netdevsim[1] and mlx5[2]. In addition, this is inconsistent with the behavior of devlink_nl_rate_parent_node_set, where the parent pointer is correctly cleared. This patch fixes the issue by explicitly setting devlink_rate->parent to NULL after notifying the driver, thus fulfilling the function's documented behavior for all rate objects. net: dsa: properly keep track of conduit reference commit 06e219f6a706c367c93051f408ac61417643d2f9 upstream. Problem description ------------------- DSA has a mumbo-jumbo of reference handling of the conduit net device and its kobject which, sadly, is just wrong and doesn't make sense. There are two distinct problems. 1. The OF path, which uses of_find_net_device_by_node(), never releases the elevated refcount on the conduit's kobject. Nominally, the OF and non-OF paths should result in objects having identical reference counts taken, and it is already suspicious that dsa_dev_to_net_device() has a put_device() call which is missing in dsa_port_parse_of(), but we can actually even verify that an issue exists. With CONFIG_DEBUG_KOBJECT_RELEASE=y, if we run this command "before" and "after" applying this patch: (unbind the conduit driver for net device eno2) echo 0000:00:00.2 > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/fsl_enetc/unbind we see these lines in the output diff which appear only with the patch applied: kobject: 'eno2' (ffff002009a3a6b8): kobject_release, parent 0000000000000000 (delayed 1000) kobject: '109' (ffff0020099d59a0): kobject_release, parent 0000000000000000 (delayed 1000) 2. After we find the conduit interface one way (OF) or another (non-OF), it can get unregistered at any time, and DSA remains with a long-lived, but in this case stale, cpu_dp->conduit pointer. Holding the net device's underlying kobject isn't actually of much help, it just prevents it from being freed (but we never need that kobject directly). What helps us to prevent the net device from being unregistered is the parallel netdev reference mechanism (dev_hold() and dev_put()). Actually we actually use that netdev tracker mechanism implicitly on user ports since commit 2f1e8ea726e9 ("net: dsa: link interfaces with the DSA master to get rid of lockdep warnings"), via netdev_upper_dev_link(). But time still passes at DSA switch probe time between the initial of_find_net_device_by_node() code and the user port creation time, time during which the conduit could unregister itself and DSA wouldn't know about it. So we have to run of_find_net_device_by_node() under rtnl_lock() to prevent that from happening, and release the lock only with the netdev tracker having acquired the reference. Do we need to keep the reference until dsa_unregister_switch() / dsa_switch_shutdown()? 1: Maybe yes. A switch device will still be registered even if all user ports failed to probe, see commit 86f8b1c01a0a ("net: dsa: Do not make user port errors fatal"), and the cpu_dp->conduit pointers remain valid. I haven't audited all call paths to see whether they will actually use the conduit in lack of any user port, but if they do, it seems safer to not rely on user ports for that reference. 2. Definitely yes. We support changing the conduit which a user port is associated to, and we can get into a situation where we've moved all user ports away from a conduit, thus no longer hold any reference to it via the net device tracker. But we shouldn't let it go nonetheless - see the next change in relation to dsa_tree_find_first_conduit() and LAG conduits which disappear. We have to be prepared to return to the physical conduit, so the CPU port must explicitly keep another reference to it. This is also to say: the user ports and their CPU ports may not always keep a reference to the same conduit net device, and both are needed. As for the conduit's kobject for the /sys/class/net/ entry, we don't care about it, we can release it as soon as we hold the net device object itself. History and blame attribution ----------------------------- The code has been refactored so many times, it is very difficult to follow and properly attribute a blame, but I'll try to make a short history which I hope to be correct. We have two distinct probing paths: - one for OF, introduced in 2016 in commit 83c0afaec7b7 ("net: dsa: Add new binding implementation") - one for non-OF, introduced in 2017 in commit 71e0bbde0d88 ("net: dsa: Add support for platform data") These are both complete rewrites of the original probing paths (which used struct dsa_switch_driver and other weird stuff, instead of regular devices on their respective buses for register access, like MDIO, SPI, I2C etc): - one for OF, introduced in 2013 in commit 5e95329b701c ("dsa: add device tree bindings to register DSA switches") - one for non-OF, introduced in 2008 in commit 91da11f870f0 ("net: Distributed Switch Architecture protocol support") except for tiny bits and pieces like dsa_dev_to_net_device() which were seemingly carried over since the original commit, and used to this day. The point is that the original probing paths received a fix in 2015 in the form of commit 679fb46c5785 ("net: dsa: Add missing master netdev dev_put() calls"), but the fix never made it into the "new" (dsa2) probing paths that can still be traced to today, and the fixed probing path was later deleted in 2019 in commit 93e86b3bc842 ("net: dsa: Remove legacy probing support"). That is to say, the new probing paths were never quite correct in this area. The existence of the legacy probing support which was deleted in 2019 explains why dsa_dev_to_net_device() returns a conduit with elevated refcount (because it was supposed to be released during dsa_remove_dst()). After the removal of the legacy code, the only user of dsa_dev_to_net_device() calls dev_put(conduit) immediately after this function returns. This pattern makes no sense today, and can only be interpreted historically to understand why dev_hold() was there in the first place. Change details -------------- Today we have a better netdev tracking infrastructure which we should use. Logically netdev_hold() belongs in common code (dsa_port_parse_cpu(), where dp->conduit is assigned), but there is a tradeoff to be made with the rtnl_lock() section which would become a bit too long if we did that - dsa_port_parse_cpu() also calls request_module(). So we duplicate a bit of logic in order for the callers of dsa_port_parse_cpu() to be the ones responsible of holding the conduit reference and releasing it on error. This shortens the rtnl_lock() section significantly. In the dsa_switch_probe() error path, dsa_switch_release_ports() will be called in a number of situations, one being where dsa_port_parse_cpu() maybe didn't get the chance to run at all (a different port failed earlier, etc). So we have to test for the conduit being NULL prior to calling netdev_put(). There have still been so many transformations to the code since the blamed commits (rename master -> conduit, commit 0650bf52b31f ("net: dsa: be compatible with masters which unregister on shutdown")), that it only makes sense to fix the code using the best methods available today and see how it can be backported to stable later. I suspect the fix cannot even be backported to kernels which lack dsa_switch_shutdown(), and I suspect this is also maybe why the long-lived conduit reference didn't make it into the new DSA probing paths at the time (problems during shutdown). Because dsa_dev_to_net_device() has a single call site and has to be changed anyway, the logic was just absorbed into the non-OF dsa_port_parse(). Tested on the ocelot/felix switch and on dsa_loop, both on the NXP LS1028A with CONFIG_DEBUG_KOBJECT_RELEASE=y. ethtool: eeprom: add more safeties to EEPROM Netlink fallback [ Upstream commit 67cfdd9210b99f260b3e0afeb9525e0acc7be31e ] The Netlink fallback path for reading module EEPROM (fallback_set_params()) validates that offset < eeprom_len, but does not check that offset + length stays within eeprom_len. The ioctl equivalent (ethtool_get_any_eeprom() in ioctl.c) has always enforced both bounds: if (eeprom.offset + eeprom.len > total_len) return -EINVAL; This could lead to surprises in both drivers and device FW. Add the missing offset + length validation to fallback_set_params(), mirroring the ioctl. Similarly - ethtool core in general, and ethtool_get_any_eeprom() in particular tries to zero-init all buffers passed to the drivers to avoid any extra work of zeroing things out. eeprom_fallback() uses a plain kmalloc(), change it to zalloc. net: hsr: defer node table free until after RCU readers [ Upstream commit aaec7096f9961eb223b5b149abe9495525c205d9 ] HSR node-list and node-status generic-netlink operations run under rcu_read_lock(). They walk hsr->node_db through hsr_get_next_node() and hsr_get_node_data(), but RTM_DELLINK teardown removes the same node table with plain list_del() and frees each node immediately. That lets a generic-netlink reader hold a struct hsr_node pointer across hsr_dellink(). In a KASAN build, widening the reader window after hsr_get_next_node() obtains the node reproduces a slab-use-after-free when the reader copies node->macaddress_A; the freeing stack is hsr_del_nodes() from hsr_dellink(). Use list_del_rcu() and defer the free through the existing hsr_free_node_rcu() callback. This matches the lifetime rule used by the HSR prune paths, which already delete nodes with list_del_rcu() and call_rcu(). ieee802154: 6lowpan: only accept IPv6 packets in lowpan_xmit() [ Upstream commit 3a5f3f7aff18bcc36a57839cf50cf0cc8de707f3 ] The aoe driver (or similar) generates a non-IPv6 packet (e.g., ETH_P_AOE) and queues it for transmission via dev_queue_xmit() on a 6LoWPAN interface (configured by the user or test case). Since the packet is not IPv6, the 6LoWPAN header_ops->create function (lowpan_header_create or header_create) returns early without initializing the lowpan_addr_info structure in the skb headroom. In the transmit function (lowpan_xmit), the driver calls lowpan_header (or setup_header) which unconditionally copies and uses the lowpan_addr_info from the headroom, which contains uninitialized data. Fix this by dropping non IPv6 packets. A similar fix is needed in net/bluetooth/6lowpan.c bt_xmit(). The pre-existing SO_MSGLIMIT-only lock becomes redundant and is removed. Any AF_IUCV HIPER user can potentially crash the kernel by racing recvmsg() with getsockopt(SO_MSGSIZE): the SO_MSGSIZE arm dereferences iucv->hs_dev->mtu after iucv_sock_close() (called from the racing recvmsg()) has set hs_dev to NULL, producing a NULL pointer dereference oops. xfrm: route MIGRATE notifications to caller's netns commit 7e2a4f7ca0952820731ef7bdadfc9a9e9d3571b4 upstream. xfrm_send_migrate() in net/xfrm/xfrm_user.c and pfkey_send_migrate() in net/key/af_key.c both hardcode &init_net for the multicast that announces a successful XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE / SADB_X_MIGRATE. XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE arrives on a per-netns NETLINK_XFRM socket, and the rest of the xfrm/af_key netlink path was made netns-aware in 2008. The other 14 multicast paths in xfrm_user.c route their event using xs_net(x), xp_net(xp) or sock_net(skb->sk); only the migrate path was missed. Two consequences of the init_net hardcoding: 1. The notification (selector, old/new endpoint addresses, and the km_address) is delivered to listeners on init_net's XFRMNLGRP_MIGRATE / pfkey BROADCAST_ALL groups rather than on the issuing netns. An IKE daemon running in init_net therefore receives migration notifications originating from any other netns on the host. 2. An IKE daemon running inside a non-init netns and subscribed to its own XFRMNLGRP_MIGRATE / pfkey groups never receives the notification of its own migration. IKEv2 MOBIKE / address-update handling inside a netns is silently broken. Thread struct net through km_migrate() and the xfrm_mgr.migrate function pointer, drop the &init_net override in xfrm_send_migrate() and pfkey_send_migrate(), and pass the caller's net (already in scope in xfrm_migrate() via sock_net(skb->sk)) all the way down. struct xfrm_mgr is in-tree only and not exported as a stable API, so the function-pointer signature change is internal. pfkey_broadcast() is already netns-aware via net_generic(net, pfkey_net_id) since the pernet conversion. The five other pfkey_broadcast() callers in af_key.c already pass xs_net(x), sock_net(sk) or a per-netns net, so this only removes the &init_net outlier. l2tp: Drop large packets with UDP encap [ Upstream commit ebe560ea5f54134279356703e73b7f867c89db13 ] syzbot reported a WARN on my patch series [1]. The actual issue is an overflow of 16-bit UDP length field, and it exists in the upstream code. wifi: mac80211: check tdls flag in ieee80211_tdls_oper [ Upstream commit 7d73872d949c488a1d7c308031d6a9d89b5e0a8b ] When NL80211_TDLS_ENABLE_LINK is called, the code only checks if the station exists but not whether it is actually a TDLS station. This allows the operation to proceed for non-TDLS stations, causing unintended side effects like modifying channel context and HT protection before failing. Add a check for sta->sta.tdls early in the ENABLE_LINK case, before any side effects occur, to ensure the operation is only allowed for actual TDLS peers. mptcp: pm: fix extra_subflows underflow on userspace PM subflow creation [ Upstream commit 14e9fea30b68fc75b2b3d97396a7e6adb544bd2a ] The userspace PM increments extra_subflows after __mptcp_subflow_connect() succeeds, but __mptcp_subflow_connect() calls mptcp_pm_close_subflow() on failure to roll back the pre-increment done by the kernel PM's fill_*() helpers. Because the userspace PM hasn't incremented yet at that point, this decrement is spurious and causes extra_subflows to underflow. Fix it by aligning the userspace PM with the kernel PM: increment extra_subflows before calling __mptcp_subflow_connect(), so the existing error path in subflow.c correctly rolls it back on failure. Also simplify the error handling by taking pm.lock only when needed for cleanup. net: ncsi: fix skb leak in error paths commit 5c3398a54266541610c8d0a7082e654e9ff3e259 upstream. Early return paths in NCSI RX and AEN handlers fail to release the received skb, resulting in a memory leak. Specifically, ncsi_aen_handler() returns on invalid AEN packets without consuming the skb. Similarly, ncsi_rcv_rsp() exits early when failing to resolve the NCSI device, response handler, or request, leaving the skb unfreed. netlabel: validate unlabeled address and mask attribute lengths [ Upstream commit 9772589b57e44aedc240211c5c3f7a684a034d3a ] netlbl_unlabel_addrinfo_get() used the address attribute length to determine whether the attribute data could be read as an IPv4 or IPv6 address, but did not independently validate the corresponding mask attribute length. A crafted Generic Netlink request could therefore provide a valid IPv4/IPv6 address attribute with a shorter mask attribute, which would later be read as a full struct in_addr or struct in6_addr. NLA_BINARY policy lengths are maximum lengths by default, so use NLA_POLICY_EXACT_LEN() for the unlabeled IPv4/IPv6 address and mask attributes. This rejects short attributes during policy validation and also exposes the exact length requirements through policy introspection. genetlink: Use internal flags for multicast groups [ Upstream commit cd4d7263d58ab98fd4dee876776e4da6c328faa3 ] As explained in commit e03781879a0d ("drop_monitor: Require 'CAP_SYS_ADMIN' when joining "events" group"), the "flags" field in the multicast group structure reuses uAPI flags despite the field not being exposed to user space. This makes it impossible to extend its use without adding new uAPI flags, which is inappropriate for internal kernel checks. Solve this by adding internal flags (i.e., "GENL_MCAST_*") and convert the existing users to use them instead of the uAPI flags. Tested using the reproducers in commit 44ec98ea5ea9 ("psample: Require 'CAP_NET_ADMIN' when joining "packets" group") and commit e03781879a0d ("drop_monitor: Require 'CAP_SYS_ADMIN' when joining "events" group"). No functional changes intended. nfc: hci: fix out-of-bounds read in HCP header parsing commit f040e590c035bfd9553fe79ee9585caf1b14d67b upstream. Both nfc_hci_recv_from_llc() and nci_hci_data_received_cb() read packet->header from skb->data at function entry without first checking that the buffer holds at least one byte. A malicious NFC peer can send a 0-byte HCP frame that passes through the SHDLC layer and reaches these functions, causing an out-of-bounds heap read of packet->header. The same 0-byte frame, if queued as a non-final fragment, also causes the reassembly loop to underflow msg_len to UINT_MAX, triggering skb_over_panic() when the reassembled skb is written. Fix this by adding a pskb_may_pull() check at the entry of each function before packet->header is first accessed. The existing pskb_may_pull() checks before the reassembled hcp_skb is cast to struct hcp_packet remain in place to guard the 2-byte HCP message header. nsh: Restore skb->{protocol,data,mac_header} for outer header in nsh_gso_segment(). [ Upstream commit 4b911a9690d72641879ea6d13cce1de31d346d79 ] syzbot triggered various splats (see [0] and links) by a crafted GSO packet of VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP layering the following protocols: ETH_P_8021AD + ETH_P_NSH + ETH_P_IPV6 + IPPROTO_UDP NSH can encapsulate IPv4, IPv6, Ethernet, NSH, and MPLS. As the inner protocol can be Ethernet, NSH GSO handler, nsh_gso_segment(), calls skb_mac_gso_segment() to invoke inner protocol GSO handlers. nsh_gso_segment() does the following for the original skb before calling skb_mac_gso_segment() 1. reset skb->network_header 2. save the original skb->{mac_heaeder,mac_len} in a local variable 3. pull the NSH header 4. resets skb->mac_header 5. set up skb->mac_len and skb->protocol for the inner protocol. and does the following for the segmented skb 6. set ntohs(ETH_P_NSH) to skb->protocol 7. push the NSH header 8. restore skb->mac_header 9. set skb->mac_header + mac_len to skb->network_header 10. restore skb->mac_len There are two problems in 6-7 and 8-9. (a) After 6 & 7, skb->data points to the NSH header, so the outer header (ETH_P_8021AD in this case) is stripped when skb is sent out of netdev. Also, if NSH is encapsulated by NSH + Ethernet (so NSH-Ethernet-NSH), skb_pull() in the first nsh_gso_segment() will make skb->data point to the middle of the outer NSH or Ethernet header because the Ethernet header is not pulled by the second nsh_gso_segment(). (b) While restoring skb->{mac_header,network_header} in 8 & 9, nsh_gso_segment() does not assume that the data in the linear buffer is shifted. However, udp6_ufo_fragment() could shift the data and change skb->mac_header accordingly as demonstrated by syzbot. If this happens, even the restored skb->mac_header points to the middle of the outer header. It seems nsh_gso_segment() has never worked with outer headers so far. At the end of nsh_gso_segment(), the outer header must be restored for the segmented skb, instead of the NSH header. To do that, let's calculate the outer header position relatively from the inner header and set skb->{data,mac_header,protocol} properly. net: openvswitch: fix possible kfree_skb of ERR_PTR [ Upstream commit ee30dd2909d8b98619f4341c70ec8dc8e155ab02 ] After the patch in the "Fixes" tag, the allocation of the "reply" skb can happen either before or after locking the ovs_mutex. However, error cleanups still follow the classical reversed order, assuming "reply" is allocated before locking: it is freed after unlocking. If "reply" allocation happens after locking the mutex and it fails, "reply" is left with an ERR_PTR, and execution jumps to the correspondent cleanup stage which will try to free an invalid pointer. net/packet: fix TOCTOU race on mmap'd vnet_hdr in tpacket_snd() commit 2c054e17d9d41f1020376806c7f750834ced4dc5 upstream. In tpacket_snd(), when PACKET_VNET_HDR is enabled, vnet_hdr points directly into the mmap'd TX ring buffer shared with userspace. The kernel validates the header via __packet_snd_vnet_parse() but then re-reads all fields later in virtio_net_hdr_to_skb(). A concurrent userspace thread can modify the vnet_hdr fields between validation and use, bypassing all safety checks. The non-TPACKET path (packet_snd()) already correctly copies vnet_hdr to a stack-local variable. All other vnet_hdr consumers in the kernel (tun.c, tap.c, virtio_net.c) also use stack copies. The TPACKET TX path is the only caller of virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() that reads directly from user-controlled shared memory. Fix this by copying vnet_hdr from the mmap'd ring buffer to a stack-local variable before validation and use, consistent with the approach used in packet_snd() and all other callers. The RDS IB connection teardown path is written so it can run during partial startup and on repeated shutdown attempts. It uses NULL pointers to distinguish resources that are still owned from resources that have already been released. When rds_ib_setup_qp() fails after allocating i_sends but before allocating i_recvs, the sends_out path frees i_sends without clearing the pointer. A later shutdown pass can still treat that stale pointer as a live send ring allocation. Clear i_sends after vfree() in the error unwind path so the existing shutdown logic continues to use the correct ownership state. rxrpc: Fix the ACK parser to extract the SACK table for parsing [ Upstream commit 333b6d5bb9f87827ac2639c737bf9613dbae7253 ] Fix modification of the received skbuff in rxrpc_input_soft_acks() and a potential incorrect access of the buffer in a fragmented UDP packet (the packet would probably have to be deliberately pre-generated as fragmented) when AF_RXRPC tries to extract the contents of the SACK table by copying out the contents of the SACK table into a buffer before attempting to parse AF_RXRPC assumes that it can just call skb_condense() and then validly access the SACK table from skb->data and that it will be a flat buffer - but skb_condense() can silently fail to do anything under some circumstances. Note that whilst rxrpc_input_soft_acks() should be able to parse extended ACKs, the rest of AF_RXRPC doesn't currently support that. Further, there's then no need to call skb_condense() in rxrpc_input_ack(), so don't. sctp: stream: fully roll back denied add-stream state commit a5f8a90ac9f77c678a9781c0a464b635e0d63e49 upstream. When ADD_OUT_STREAMS is denied, SCTP only shrinks the queued chunks and then lowers outcnt. That leaves removed stream metadata behind, so a later re-add can reuse a stale ext and hit a null-pointer dereference in the scheduler get path. Fix the rollback by tearing down the removed stream state the same way other stream resizes do. Unschedule the current scheduler state, drop the removed stream ext state with sctp_stream_outq_migrate(), and then reschedule the remaining streams. This keeps scheduler-private RR/FC/PRIO lists consistent while fully rolling back denied outgoing stream additions. net/smc: fix sleep-inside-lock in __smc_setsockopt() causing local DoS commit a3fdd924d88c30b9f488636ce0e4696012cf5511 upstream. A logic flaw in __smc_setsockopt() allows a local unprivileged user to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by holding the socket lock indefinitely. The function __smc_setsockopt() calls copy_from_sockptr() while holding lock_sock(sk). By passing a userfaultfd-monitored memory page (or FUSE-backed memory on systems where unprivileged userfaultfd is disabled) as the optval, an attacker can halt execution during the copy operation, keeping the lock held. Combined with asynchronous tear-down operations like shutdown(), this exhausts the kernel wq (kworkers) and triggers the hung task watchdog. net: strparser: fix skb_head leak in strp_abort_strp() commit fe72340daaf1af588be88056faf98965f39e6032 upstream. When the stream parser is aborted, for example after a message assembly timeout, it can still hold a reference to a partially assembled message in strp->skb_head. That skb is not released in strp_abort_strp(), which leaks the partially assembled message and can be triggered repeatedly to exhaust memory. Fix this by freeing strp->skb_head and resetting the parser state in the abort path. Leave strp_stop() unchanged so final cleanup still happens in strp_done() after the work and timer have been synchronized. net: switchdev: Convert blocking notification chain to a raw one [ Upstream commit 62531a1effa87bdab12d5104015af72e60d926ff ] A blocking notification chain uses a read-write semaphore to protect the integrity of the chain. The semaphore is acquired for writing when adding / removing notifiers to / from the chain and acquired for reading when traversing the chain and informing notifiers about an event. In case of the blocking switchdev notification chain, recursive notifications are possible which leads to the semaphore being acquired twice for reading and to lockdep warnings being generated [1]. Specifically, this can happen when the bridge driver processes a SWITCHDEV_BRPORT_UNOFFLOADED event which causes it to emit notifications about deferred events when calling switchdev_deferred_process(). Fix this by converting the notification chain to a raw notification chain in a similar fashion to the netdev notification chain. Protect the chain using the RTNL mutex by acquiring it when modifying the chain. Events are always informed under the RTNL mutex, but add an assertion in call_switchdev_blocking_notifiers() to make sure this is not violated in the future. Maintain the "blocking" prefix as events are always emitted from process context and listeners are allowed to block. tipc: fix slab-use-after-free Read in tipc_aead_decrypt_done commit bda3348872a2ef0d19f2df6aa8cb5025adce2f20 upstream. tipc_aead_decrypt() goes straight from tipc_bearer_hold(b) to crypto_aead_decrypt(req) without taking a reference on the netns, unlike the encrypt path. When crypto_aead_decrypt() is offloaded asynchronously (e.g. the SIMD aead wrapper queuing to cryptd), the cryptd worker runs tipc_aead_decrypt_done() later. If the bearer's netns is torn down in the meantime, cleanup_net() -> tipc_exit_net() -> tipc_crypto_stop() frees the per-netns tipc_crypto, and the completion then reads it: tipc_aead_decrypt_done() dereferences aead->crypto->stats and aead->crypto->net, and tipc_crypto_rcv_complete() dereferences aead->crypto->aead[] and the node table -- reading freed memory. The completion must run asynchronously to outlive tipc_crypto_stop(); on x86 the stock aesni gcm(aes) now decrypts synchronously, so the async path was exercised via cryptd offload. The unguarded aead->crypto dereference in tipc_aead_decrypt_done() is the unpatched upstream path; tipc_aead_decrypt() still lacks maybe_get_net(aead->crypto->net), so the completion can outlive the free on any config where crypto_aead_decrypt() goes async. net: skmsg: preserve sg.copy across SG transforms commit 406e8a651a7b854c41fecd5117bb282b3a6c2c6b upstream. The sk_msg sg.copy bitmap is part of the scatterlist entry ownership state. A set bit tells sk_msg_compute_data_pointers() not to expose the entry through writable BPF ctx->data. This protects entries backed by pages that are not private to the sk_msg, such as splice-backed file page-cache pages. Several sk_msg transform paths move, copy, split, or compact msg->sg.data[] entries without moving the matching sg.copy bit. This can make an externally backed entry arrive at a new slot with a clear copy bit. Keep sg.copy synchronized with sg.data[] whenever entries are transferred, shifted, split, or copied into a new sk_msg. Clear the bit when an entry is replaced by a newly allocated private page or freed. vsock/vmci: fix sk_ack_backlog leak on failed handshake commit c05fa14db43ebef3bd862ca9d073981c0358b3f0 upstream. When vmci_transport_recv_connecting_server() returns an error, vmci_transport_recv_listen() calls vsock_remove_pending() but never calls sk_acceptq_removed(). This leaves sk_ack_backlog incremented permanently. Repeated handshake failures (malformed packets, queue pair alloc failure, event subscribe failure) cause sk_ack_backlog to climb toward sk_max_ack_backlog. Once it reaches the limit the listener permanently refuses all new connections with -ECONNREFUSED, a silent denial of service requiring a process restart to recover. The two existing sk_acceptq_removed() calls in af_vsock.c do not cover this path: line 764 checks vsock_is_pending() which returns false after vsock_remove_pending(), and line 1889 is only reached on successful accept(). Fix by balancing sk_acceptq_added() with sk_acceptq_removed() on the error path. This is done with a BUILD_BUG_ON where ax25_param_table is defined and a CONFIG_AX25_DAMA_SLAVE guard in the unnamed enum definition as well as in the ax25_dev_device_up and ax25_ds_set_timer functions. The overflow happened when the sentinel was removed from ax25_param_table. The sentinel's data element was changed when CONFIG_AX25_DAMA_SLAVE was undefined. This had no adverse effects as it still stopped on the sentinel's null procname but needed to be addressed once the sentinel was removed. xsk: validate MTU against usable frame size on bind [ Upstream commit 36ee60b569ba0dfb6f961333b90d19ab5b323fa9 ] AF_XDP bind currently accepts zero-copy pool configurations without verifying that the device MTU fits into the usable frame space provided by the UMEM chunk. This becomes a problem since we started to respect tailroom which is subtracted from chunk_size (among with headroom). 2k chunk size might not provide enough space for standard 1500 MTU, so let us catch such settings at bind time. Furthermore, validate whether underlying HW will be able to satisfy configured MTU wrt XSK's frame size multiplied by supported Rx buffer chain length (that is exposed via net_device::xdp_zc_max_segs). xfrm: espintcp: do not reuse an in-progress partial send commit c381039ade2e161ab08c0eda73c4f8b9a7115928 upstream. espintcp keeps a single in-flight transmit in ctx->partial. Before building a new sk_msg, espintcp_sendmsg() first tries to flush that state through espintcp_push_msgs(). For blocking callers, espintcp_push_msgs() may return success even when the previous partial send is still pending. espintcp_sendmsg() would then reinitialize emsg->skmsg and reuse ctx->partial while the old transfer still owns that state. Do not rebuild the send message when ctx->partial is still in progress. If espintcp_push_msgs() returns with emsg->len still set, fail the new send instead of overwriting the live partial state. This is a memory-safety fix: reusing the live partial-send state can leave a stale offset attached to a new sk_msg and lead to an out-of- bounds read in the send path. tcp_sendmsg_locked() already handles waiting for send buffer memory, so the fix here is just to preserve espintcp's one-message-at-a-time transmit state. bpf: Add fd-based tcx multi-prog infra with link support This work refactors and adds a lightweight extension ("tcx") to the tc BPF ingress and egress data path side for allowing BPF program management based on fds via bpf() syscall through the newly added generic multi-prog API. The main goal behind this work which we also presented at LPC [0] last year and a recent update at LSF/MM/BPF this year [3] is to support long-awaited BPF link functionality for tc BPF programs, which allows for a model of safe ownership and program detachment. Given the rise in tc BPF users in cloud native environments, this becomes necessary to avoid hard to debug incidents either through stale leftover programs or 3rd party applications accidentally stepping on each others toes. As a recap, a BPF link represents the attachment of a BPF program to a BPF hook point. The BPF link holds a single reference to keep BPF program alive. Moreover, hook points do not reference a BPF link, only the application's fd or pinning does. A BPF link holds meta-data specific to attachment and implements operations for link creation, (atomic) BPF program update, detachment and introspection. The motivation for BPF links for tc BPF programs is multi-fold, for example: - From Meta: "It's especially important for applications that are deployed fleet-wide and that don't "control" hosts they are deployed to. If such application crashes and no one notices and does anything about that, BPF program will keep running draining resources or even just, say, dropping packets. We at FB had outages due to such permanent BPF attachment semantics. With fd-based BPF link we are getting a framework, which allows safe, auto-detachable behavior by default, unless application explicitly opts in by pinning the BPF link." [1] - From Cilium-side the tc BPF programs we attach to host-facing veth devices and phys devices build the core datapath for Kubernetes Pods, and they implement forwarding, load-balancing, policy, EDT-management, etc, within BPF. Currently there is no concept of 'safe' ownership, e.g. we've recently experienced hard-to-debug issues in a user's staging environment where another Kubernetes application using tc BPF attached to the same prio/handle of cls_bpf, accidentally wiping all Cilium-based BPF programs from underneath it. The goal is to establish a clear/safe ownership model via links which cannot accidentally be overridden. [0,2] BPF links for tc can co-exist with non-link attachments, and the semantics are in line also with XDP links: BPF links cannot replace other BPF links, BPF links cannot replace non-BPF links, non-BPF links cannot replace BPF links and lastly only non-BPF links can replace non-BPF links. In case of Cilium, this would solve mentioned issue of safe ownership model as 3rd party applications would not be able to accidentally wipe Cilium programs, even if they are not BPF link aware. Earlier attempts [4] have tried to integrate BPF links into core tc machinery to solve cls_bpf, which has been intrusive to the generic tc kernel API with extensions only specific to cls_bpf and suboptimal/complex since cls_bpf could be wiped from the qdisc also. Locking a tc BPF program in place this way, is getting into layering hacks given the two object models are vastly different. We instead implemented the tcx (tc 'express') layer which is an fd-based tc BPF attach API, so that the BPF link implementation blends in naturally similar to other link types which are fd-based and without the need for changing core tc internal APIs. BPF programs for tc can then be successively migrated from classic cls_bpf to the new tc BPF link without needing to change the program's source code, just the BPF loader mechanics for attaching is sufficient. For the current tc framework, there is no change in behavior with this change and neither does this change touch on tc core kernel APIs. The gist of this patch is that the ingress and egress hook have a lightweight, qdisc-less extension for BPF to attach its tc BPF programs, in other words, a minimal entry point for tc BPF. The name tcx has been suggested from discussion of earlier revisions of this work as a good fit, and to more easily differ between the classic cls_bpf attachment and the fd-based one. For the ingress and egress tcx points, the device holds a cache-friendly array with program pointers which is separated from control plane (slow-path) data. Earlier versions of this work used priority to determine ordering and expression of dependencies similar as with classic tc, but it was challenged that for something more future-proof a better user experience is required. Hence this resulted in the design and development of the generic attach/detach/query API for multi-progs. See prior patch with its discussion on the API design. tcx is the first user and later we plan to integrate also others, for example, one candidate is multi-prog support for XDP which would benefit and have the same 'look and feel' from API perspective. The goal with tcx is to have maximum compatibility to existing tc BPF programs, so they don't need to be rewritten specifically. Compatibility to call into classic tcf_classify() is also provided in order to allow successive migration or both to cleanly co-exist where needed given its all one logical tc layer and the tcx plus classic tc cls/act build one logical overall processing pipeline. tcx supports the simplified return codes TCX_NEXT which is non-terminating (go to next program) and terminating ones with TCX_PASS, TCX_DROP, TCX_REDIRECT. The fd-based API is behind a static key, so that when unused the code is also not entered. The struct tcx_entry's program array is currently static, but could be made dynamic if necessary at a point in future. The a/b pair swap design has been chosen so that for detachment there are no allocations which otherwise could fail. The work has been tested with tc-testing selftest suite which all passes, as well as the tc BPF tests from the BPF CI, and also with Cilium's L4LB. Commit f4e65870e5ce ("net: split out functions related to registering inflight socket files") moved some functions to scm.c for io_uring and added CONFIG_UNIX_SCM just in case AF_UNIX was built as module. However, since commit 97154bcf4d1b ("af_unix: Kconfig: make CONFIG_UNIX bool"), AF_UNIX is no longer built separately. Also, io_uring does not support SCM_RIGHTS now. net: guard timestamp cmsgs to real error queue skbs [ Upstream commit 1ee90b77b727df903033db873c75caac5c27ec98 ] skb_is_err_queue() treats PACKET_OUTGOING as the sole marker for an skb from sk_error_queue. That assumption is not true for AF_PACKET sockets: outgoing packet taps are also delivered to packet sockets with skb->pkt_type == PACKET_OUTGOING, but their skb->cb is owned by AF_PACKET instead of struct sock_exterr_skb. If such an skb is received with timestamping enabled, the generic timestamp cmsg path can read AF_PACKET control-buffer state as sock_exterr_skb::opt_stats. With SO_RXQ_OVFL enabled, the packet drop counter overlaps opt_stats. An odd drop count makes the path emit SCM_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_STATS with skb->len and skb->data. For non-linear skbs this copies past the linear head and can trigger hardened usercopy or disclose adjacent heap contents. Keep skb_is_err_queue() local to net/socket.c, but make it verify that the PACKET_OUTGOING marker is paired with the sock_rmem_free destructor installed by sock_queue_err_skb(). AF_PACKET receive skbs use normal receive ownership and no longer pass as error-queue skbs, while legitimate sk_error_queue entries keep the PACKET_OUTGOING marker and sock_rmem_free ownership.
