perf ui browser hists: Set actions->thread before calling do_zoom_thread() [ Upstream commit 1741189d843a1d5ef38538bc52a3760e2e46cb2e ] In 7cecb7fe8388d5c3 ("perf hists: Move sort__has_comm into struct perf_hpp_list") it assumes that act->thread is set prior to calling do_zoom_thread(). This doesn't happen when we use ESC or the Left arrow key to Zoom out of a specific thread, making this operation not to work and we get stuck into the thread zoom. In 6422184b087ff435 ("perf hists browser: Simplify zooming code using pstack_peek()") it says no need to set actions->thread, and at that point that was true, but in 7cecb7fe8388d5c3 a actions->thread == NULL check was added before the zoom out of thread could kick in. We can zoom out using the alternative 't' thread zoom toggle hotkey to finally set actions->thread before calling do_zoom_thread() and zoom out, but lets also fix the ESC/Zoom out of thread case. perf thread: Add accessor functions for thread Using accessors will make it easier to add reference count checking in later patches. Committer notes: thread->nsinfo wasn't wrapped as it is used together with nsinfo__zput(), where does a trick to set the field with a refcount being dropped to NULL, and that doesn't work well with using thread__nsinfo(thread), that loses the &thread->nsinfo pointer. When refcount checking is added to 'struct thread', later in this series, nsinfo__zput(RC_CHK_ACCESS(thread)->nsinfo) will be used to check the thread pointer. perf tui slang: Tidy casts Casts were necessary for older versions of libslang, however, these are now 15 years old and so we no longer need to care about supporting them. Tidy the casts and remove unnecessary logic. Move the ENABLE_SLFUTURE_CONST to the libslang.h common include file, and also enable ENABLE_SLFUTURE_VOID. perf report: Support a new key to reload the browser Sometimes we may need to reload the browser to update the output since some options are changed. This patch creates a new key K_RELOAD. Once the __cmd_report() returns K_RELOAD, it would repeat the whole process, such as, read samples from data file, sort the data and display in the browser. v5: --- 1. perf tools: Fix "kernel lock contention analysis" test by not printing warnings in quiet mode Especially when CONFIG_LOCKDEP and other debug configs are enabled, Perf can print the following warning when running the "kernel lock contention analysis" test: Warning: Processed 1378918 events and lost 4 chunks! Check IO/CPU overload! Warning: Processed 4593325 samples and lost 70.00%! The test already supplies -q to run in quiet mode, so extend quiet mode to perf_stdio__warning() and also ui__warning() for consistency. This fixes the following failure due to the extra lines counted: perf test "lock cont" -vvv 82: kernel lock contention analysis test : --- start --- test child forked, pid 3125 Testing perf lock record and perf lock contention [Fail] Recorded result count is not 1: 9 test child finished with -1 ---- end ---- kernel lock contention analysis test: FAILED! tools ui popup: Allow returning hotkeys With this patch if an optional pointer is passed to ui__popup_menu() then when any key that is not being handled (ENTER, ESC, etc) is typed, it'll record that key in the pointer and return, allowing for hotkey processing on the caller. If NULL is passed, no change in logic, unhandled keys continue to be ignored.
