s390x/css: Refactor IRB construction Currently, all subchannel types have "sense data" copied into the IRB.ECW space, and a couple flags enabled in the IRB.SCSW and IRB.ESW. But for passthrough (vfio-ccw) subchannels, this data isn't populated in the first place, so enabling those flags leads to unexpected behavior if the guest tries to process the sense data (zeros) in the IRB.ECW. Let's add a subchannel callback that builds these portions of the IRB, and move the existing code into a routine for those virtual subchannels. The passthrough subchannels will be able to piggy-back onto this later. This (of course) does not work with "secure execution" guests since they are encrypted with one certain host key. However, if you still (accidentally) do it, you only get a very user-unfriendly error message that looks like this: qemu-system-s390x: KVM PV command 2 (KVM_PV_SET_SEC_PARMS) failed: header rc 108 rrc 5 IOCTL rc: -22 Let's provide at least a somewhat nicer hint to the users so that they are able to figure out what might have gone wrong. s390x/cpu topology: add topology entries on CPU hotplug The topology information are attributes of the CPU and are specified during the CPU device creation. On hot plug we: - calculate the default values for the topology for drawers, books and sockets in the case they are not specified. - verify the CPU attributes - check that we have still room on the desired socket The possibility to insert a CPU in a mask is dependent on the number of cores allowed in a socket, a book or a drawer, the checking is done during the hot plug of the CPU to have an immediate answer. If the complete topology is not specified, the core is added in the physical topology based on its core ID and it gets defaults values for the modifier attributes. This way, starting QEMU without specifying the topology can still get some advantage of the CPU topology. system/cpus: rename qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() to bql_lock() The Big QEMU Lock (BQL) has many names and they are confusing. The actual QemuMutex variable is called qemu_global_mutex but it's commonly referred to as the BQL in discussions and some code comments. The locking APIs, however, are called qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() and qemu_mutex_unlock_iothread(). The "iothread" name is historic and comes from when the main thread was split into into KVM vcpu threads and the "iothread" (now called the main loop thread). I have contributed to the confusion myself by introducing a separate --object iothread, a separate concept unrelated to the BQL. The "iothread" name is no longer appropriate for the BQL. Rename the locking APIs to: - void bql_lock(void) - void bql_unlock(void) - bool bql_locked(void) There are more APIs with "iothread" in their names. Subsequent patches will rename them. There are also comments and documentation that will be updated in later patches. s390/kvm_virtio/linux-headers: remove traces of old virtio transport We no longer support the old s390 transport, neither does the newest Linux kernel. Remove it from the linux header script as well as the s390x virtio code. We still should handle the VIRTIO_NOTIFY hypercall, to tolerate early printk on older guest kernels without an sclp console. We continue to ignore these events. trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using $(build_root)/$(<D). In order to keep the include directives unchanged, the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like "trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h". This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the Meson rewrite of the tracing logic. modules: introduces module_kconfig directive module_kconfig is a new directive that should be used with module_obj whenever that module depends on the Kconfig to be enabled. When the module is enabled in Kconfig we are sure that its dependencies will be enabled as well, thus the module will be loaded without any problem.
