meson: Introduce target-specific Kconfig Add a target-specific Kconfig. We need the definitions in Kconfig so the minikconf tool can verify they exits. However CONFIG_FOO is only enabled for target foo via the meson.build rules. Two architecture have a particularity, ARM and MIPS. As their translators have been split you can potentially build a plain 32 bit build along with a 64-bit version including the 32-bit subset. target: ppc: Use MSR_HVB bit to get the target endianness for memory dump Currently on PPC64 qemu always dumps the guest memory in Big Endian (BE) format even though the guest running in Little Endian (LE) mode. So crash tool fails to load the dump as illustrated below: Log : $ virsh dump DOMAIN --memory-only dump.file Domain 'DOMAIN' dumped to dump.file $ crash vmlinux dump.file <snip> crash 8.0.2-1.el9 WARNING: endian mismatch: crash utility: little-endian dump.file: big-endian WARNING: machine type mismatch: crash utility: PPC64 dump.file: (unknown) crash: dump.file: not a supported file format <snip> This happens because cpu_get_dump_info() passes cpu->env->has_hv_mode to function ppc_interrupts_little_endian(), the cpu->env->has_hv_mode always set for powerNV even though the guest is not running in hv mode. The hv mode should be taken from msr_mask MSR_HVB bit (cpu->env.msr_mask & MSR_HVB). This patch fixes the issue by passing MSR_HVB value to ppc_interrupts_little_endian() in order to determine the guest endianness. The crash tool also expects guest kernel endianness should match the endianness of the dump. target/ppc: Add POWER9 DD2.2 model POWER9 DD2.1 and earlier had significant limitations when running KVM, including lack of "mixed mode" MMU support (ability to run HPT and RPT mode on threads of the same core), and a translation prefetch issue which is worked around by disabling "AIL" mode for the guest. These processors are not widely available, and it's difficult to deal with all these quirks in qemu +/- KVM, so create a POWER9 DD2.2 CPU and make it the default POWER9 CPU. target/ppc: Fix warning with clang-15 When compiling for windows-arm64 using clang-15, it reports a sometimes uninitialized variable. This seems to be a false positive, as a default case guards switch expressions, preventing to return an uninitialized value, but clang seems unhappy with assert(0) definition. target/ppc: Fix bugs in VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT and VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT2 macros The patch below fixes a bug in the VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT and VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT2 macros in target/ppc/fpu_helper.c where a non-NaN floating point value from the source vector is incorrectly converted to 0, 0x80000000, or 0x8000000000000000 instead of the expected value if a preceding source floating point value from the same source vector was a NaN. The bug in the VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT and VSX_CVT_FP_TO_INT2 macros in target/ppc/fpu_helper.c was introduced with commit c3f24257e3c0. This patch also adds a new vsx_f2i_nan test in tests/tcg/ppc64 that checks that the VSX xvcvspsxws, xvcvspuxws, xvcvspsxds, xvcvspuxds, xvcvdpsxws, xvcvdpuxws, xvcvdpsxds, and xvcvdpuxds instructions correctly convert non-NaN floating point values to integer values if the source vector contains NaN floating point values. target/ppc: Fix PMU hflags calculation Some of the PMU hflags bits can go out of synch, for example a store to MMCR0 with PMCjCE=1 fails to update hflags correctly and results in hflags mismatch: qemu: fatal: TCG hflags mismatch (current:0x2408003d rebuilt:0x240a003d) This can be reproduced by running perf on a recent machine. Some of the fragility here is the duplication of PMU hflags calculations. This change consolidates that in a single place to update pmu-related hflags, to be called after a well defined state changes. The post-load PMU update is pulled out of the MSR update because it does not depend on the MSR value. target/ppc: Fix fallback to MFSS for MFFS* instructions on pre 3.0 ISAs The following commits changed the code such that the fallback to MFSS for MFFSCRN, MFFSCRNI, MFFSCE and MFFSL on pre 3.0 ISAs was removed and became an illegal instruction: bf8adfd88b547680aa857c46098f3a1e94373160 - target/ppc: Move mffscrn[i] to decodetree 394c2e2fda70da722f20fb60412d6c0ca4bfaa03 - target/ppc: Move mffsce to decodetree 3e5bce70efe6bd1f684efbb21fd2a316cbf0657e - target/ppc: Move mffsl to decodetree The hardware will handle them as a MFFS instruction as the code did previously. This means applications that were segfaulting under qemu when encountering these instructions which is used in glibc libm functions for example. The fallback for MFFSCDRN and MFFSCDRNI added in a later patch was also missing. This patch restores the fallback to MFSS for these instructions on pre 3.0s ISAs as the hardware decoder would, fixing the segfaulting libm code. It doesn't have the fallback for 3.0 onwards to match hardware behaviour. system/cpus: rename qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() to bql_lock() The Big QEMU Lock (BQL) has many names and they are confusing. The actual QemuMutex variable is called qemu_global_mutex but it's commonly referred to as the BQL in discussions and some code comments. The locking APIs, however, are called qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() and qemu_mutex_unlock_iothread(). The "iothread" name is historic and comes from when the main thread was split into into KVM vcpu threads and the "iothread" (now called the main loop thread). I have contributed to the confusion myself by introducing a separate --object iothread, a separate concept unrelated to the BQL. The "iothread" name is no longer appropriate for the BQL. Rename the locking APIs to: - void bql_lock(void) - void bql_unlock(void) - bool bql_locked(void) There are more APIs with "iothread" in their names. Subsequent patches will rename them. There are also comments and documentation that will be updated in later patches. target/ppc: Remove PowerPC 601 CPUs The PowerPC 601 processor is the first generation of processors to implement the PowerPC architecture. It was designed as a bridge processor and also could execute most of the instructions of the previous POWER architecture. It was found on the first Macs and IBM RS/6000 workstations. There is not much interest in keeping the CPU model of this POWER-PowerPC bridge processor. We have the 603 and 604 CPU models of the 60x family which implement the complete PowerPC instruction set. target/ppc: Generate storage interrupts for radix RC changes Change radix model to always generate a storage interrupt when the R/C bits are not set appropriately in a PTE instead of setting the bits itself. According to the ISA both behaviors are valid, but in practice this change more closely matches behavior observed on the POWER9 CPU. From the POWER9 Processor User's Manual, Section 4.10.13.1: "When performing Radix translation, the POWER9 hardware triggers the appropriate interrupt ... for the mode and type of access whenever Reference (R) and Change (C) bits require setting in either the guest or host page-table entry (PTE)." target/ppc: Fix PMU hflags calculation Some of the PMU hflags bits can go out of synch, for example a store to MMCR0 with PMCjCE=1 fails to update hflags correctly and results in hflags mismatch: qemu: fatal: TCG hflags mismatch (current:0x2408003d rebuilt:0x240a003d) This can be reproduced by running perf on a recent machine. Some of the fragility here is the duplication of PMU hflags calculations. This change consolidates that in a single place to update pmu-related hflags, to be called after a well defined state changes. The post-load PMU update is pulled out of the MSR update because it does not depend on the MSR value. system/cpus: rename qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() to bql_lock() The Big QEMU Lock (BQL) has many names and they are confusing. The actual QemuMutex variable is called qemu_global_mutex but it's commonly referred to as the BQL in discussions and some code comments. The locking APIs, however, are called qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() and qemu_mutex_unlock_iothread(). The "iothread" name is historic and comes from when the main thread was split into into KVM vcpu threads and the "iothread" (now called the main loop thread). I have contributed to the confusion myself by introducing a separate --object iothread, a separate concept unrelated to the BQL. The "iothread" name is no longer appropriate for the BQL. Rename the locking APIs to: - void bql_lock(void) - void bql_unlock(void) - bool bql_locked(void) There are more APIs with "iothread" in their names. Subsequent patches will rename them. There are also comments and documentation that will be updated in later patches. trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using $(build_root)/$(<D). In order to keep the include directives unchanged, the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like "trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h". This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.
