Relanding this as this did not fix the chromiumos breakage. Revert 150391 - Reverting this as it causes browser tests on the Linux ChromiumOS builder to fail. Will revert back if it does not address the redness. Revert 150380 - Add support for loading user cloud policy on desktop, behind the --load-cloud-policy-on-signin flag. Move UserCloudPolicyManager to be owned by the Profile as a step towards supporting multiple profiles. Added TestingProfile::Builder as a start towards taming the madness of all the different constructors and setters. Removed ConfigurationPolicyType and extended PolicyMap. PolicyMap was strongly coupled to specific Chrome policies, through the ConfigurationPolicyType. That enum has been removed and replaced by strings. Also introduced new PolicyMap-related enums: PolicyScope and PolicyLevel. Started removing mandatory/recommended policy_maps around. Currently there are still mandatory/recommended providers, but that'll go away after this. Move PrefMember and PrefChangeRegistrar to api directory. This is the first step in breaking Autofill's concrete dependency on prefs. These two classes are essentially utilities with very small dependencies back to PrefService (which I will break in the next change, by introducing a virtual PrefServiceBase) so they are suitable for api. Set linux distro to CHROMEOS_RELEASE_DESCRIPTION on ChromeOS This makes ChromeOS more consistent with Linux, which uses the DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION from /etc/lsb-release here. We have a different pre-existing mechanism in the code for reading the value (since ChromeOS doesn't have the lsb_release tool), but it's conceptually the same thing. This makes it possible to search / catagorize ChromeOS crash reports based on the build, or other information about the ChromeOS version. It also allows the matching build/symbols to be more easily found given a crash report. There's no need for Aura customization of distro anymore - that was added when Aura was experimental. policy_browsertest.cc
Simplify the translate infobar code some. The primary change here is to take LanguagesMenuModel, which was used by views, unused by GTK, and only "used" by Cocoa to get the appropriate language names for a menu (which can be done by calling functions on the TranslateInfobarDelegate directly), and make it truly views-specific. In turn this means we can get rid of the TranslateInfoBarView class, which was only ever used by views even though all platforms included it. Instead, the SetOriginalLanguage() and SetTargetLanguage() functions on the infobar delegate now become simple setters, and each platform calls Translate() as a followup directly where appropriate. Fixing gcc 4.7 building problems. a) - gcc-4.7 improved the implicit headers that it includes. with <4.7, the gthr-default.h file always pulls in unistd.h. with >=4.7, they avoided that include when possible. so code that isn't including unistd.h itself but needs it now breaks. b) - narrowing conversion in initiliazation list now raises an 'ill-formed conversion' warning, which causes error when -Werror is given. [THIS PART IS NOW REVERTED IN THE PATCH} c) - included patches from pastebin - http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=p3UKs7Cg Note - this may not be fixing all the gcc 4.7 build problems for all parts, but rather than submitting one big-fix-for-all CL, we'd better do it incrementally (given that all the modification is reasonable and minor) so that at least some parts get a successful gcc 4.7 build.
