dmaengine: Explicitly include correct DT includes The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. Avoid hw_desc array overrun in dw-axi-dmac stable inclusion from stable-6.6.36 commit e151ae1ee065cf4b8ce4394ddb9d9c8df6370c66 category: bugfix issue: #IB7W7N CVE: NA Signed-off-by: zhangshuqi <zhangshuqi3@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- [ Upstream commit 333e11bf47fa8d477db90e2900b1ed3c9ae9b697 ] I have a use case where nr_buffers = 3 and in which each descriptor is composed by 3 segments, resulting in the DMA channel descs_allocated to be 9. Since axi_desc_put() handles the hw_desc considering the descs_allocated, this scenario would result in a kernel panic (hw_desc array will be overrun). To fix this, the proposal is to add a new member to the axi_dma_desc structure, where we keep the number of allocated hw_descs (axi_desc_alloc()) and use it in axi_desc_put() to handle the hw_desc array correctly. Additionally I propose to remove the axi_chan_start_first_queued() call after completing the transfer, since it was identified that unbalance can occur (started descriptors can be interrupted and transfer ignored due to DMA channel not being enabled). dmaengine: dw-edma: Do not enable watermark interrupts for HDMA stable inclusion from stable-6.6.49 commit ffd2e852dc54bb7623dd04c02666289f5f51bfb6 category: bugfix issue: #IB7W7N CVE: NA Signed-off-by: zhangshuqi <zhangshuqi3@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- commit 9f646ff25c09c52cebe726601db27a60f876f15e upstream. DW_HDMA_V0_LIE and DW_HDMA_V0_RIE are initialized as BIT(3) and BIT(4) respectively in dw_hdma_control enum. But as per HDMA register these bits are corresponds to LWIE and RWIE bit i.e local watermark interrupt enable and remote watermarek interrupt enable. In linked list mode LWIE and RWIE bits only enable the local and remote watermark interrupt. Since the watermark interrupts are not used but enabled, this leads to spurious interrupts getting generated. So remove the code that enables them to avoid generating spurious watermark interrupts. And also rename DW_HDMA_V0_LIE to DW_HDMA_V0_LWIE and DW_HDMA_V0_RIE to DW_HDMA_V0_RWIE as there is no LIE and RIE bits in HDMA and those bits are corresponds to LWIE and RWIE bits. dmaengine: dw: Select only supported masters for ACPI devices stable inclusion from stable-6.6.69 commit 8cf5aa06d07453c5331711ca6496ee9bf6a9d148 category: bugfix issue: #IBIAJE CVE: NA Signed-off-by: zyf1116 <zhouyongfei3@huawei.com> --------------------------------------- commit f0e870a0e9c5521f2952ea9f3ea9d3d122631a89 upstream. The recently submitted fix-commit revealed a problem in the iDMA 32-bit platform code. Even though the controller supported only a single master the dw_dma_acpi_filter() method hard-coded two master interfaces with IDs 0 and 1. As a result the sanity check implemented in the commit b336268dde75 ("dmaengine: dw: Add peripheral bus width verification") got incorrect interface data width and thus prevented the client drivers from configuring the DMA-channel with the EINVAL error returned. E.g., the next error was printed for the PXA2xx SPI controller driver trying to configure the requested channels: > [ 164.525604] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: DMA slave config failed > [ 164.536105] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: failed to get DMA TX descriptor > [ 164.543213] spidev spi-SPT0001:00: SPI transfer failed: -16 The problem would have been spotted much earlier if the iDMA 32-bit controller supported more than one master interfaces. But since it supports just a single master and the iDMA 32-bit specific code just ignores the master IDs in the CTLLO preparation method, the issue has been gone unnoticed so far. Fix the problem by specifying the default master ID for both memory and peripheral devices in the driver data. Thus the issue noticed for the iDMA 32-bit controllers will be eliminated and the ACPI-probed DW DMA controllers will be configured with the correct master ID by default. dmaengine: ptdma: use consistent DMA masks commit df2515a17914ecfc2a0594509deaf7fcb8d191ac upstream. The PTDMA driver sets DMA masks in two different places for the same device inconsistently. First call is in pt_pci_probe(), where it uses 48bit mask. The second call is in pt_dmaengine_register(), where it uses a 64bit mask. Using 64bit dma mask causes IO_PAGE_FAULT errors on DMA transfers between main memory and other devices. Without the extra call it works fine. Additionally the second call doesn't check the return value so it can silently fail. Remove the superfluous dma_set_mask() call and only use 48bit mask. dmaengine: sf-pdma: pdma_desc memory leak fix Commit b2cc5c465c2c ("dmaengine: sf-pdma: Add multithread support for a DMA channel") changed sf_pdma_prep_dma_memcpy() to unconditionally allocate a new sf_pdma_desc each time it is called. The driver previously recycled descs, by checking the in_use flag, only allocating additional descs if the existing one was in use. This logic was removed in commit b2cc5c465c2c ("dmaengine: sf-pdma: Add multithread support for a DMA channel"), but sf_pdma_free_desc() was not changed to handle the new behaviour. As a result, each time sf_pdma_prep_dma_memcpy() is called, the previous descriptor is leaked, over time leading to memory starvation: unreferenced object 0xffffffe008447300 (size 192): comm "irq/39-mchp_dsc", pid 343, jiffies 4294906910 (age 981.200s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 00 00 00 ff 00 00 00 00 b8 c1 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00 00 70 08 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 c0 00 00 00 00 ..p............. backtrace: [<00000000064a04f4>] kmemleak_alloc+0x1e/0x28 [<00000000018927a7>] kmem_cache_alloc+0x11e/0x178 [<000000002aea8d16>] sf_pdma_prep_dma_memcpy+0x40/0x112 Add the missing kfree() to sf_pdma_free_desc(), and remove the redundant in_use flag. dmaengine: dmaengine_desc_callback_valid(): Check for callback_result Before the callback_result callback was introduced drivers coded their invocation to the callback in a similar way to: if (cb->callback) { spin_unlock(&dma->lock); cb->callback(cb->callback_param); spin_lock(&dma->lock); } With the introduction of callback_result two helpers where introduced to transparently handle both types of callbacks. And drivers where updated to look like this: if (dmaengine_desc_callback_valid(cb)) { spin_unlock(&dma->lock); dmaengine_desc_callback_invoke(cb, ...); spin_lock(&dma->lock); } dmaengine_desc_callback_invoke() correctly handles both callback_result and callback. There is no difference between wait_event_freezable_timeout() and wait_event_timeout() with respect to device interrupts. And of course "the interrupt notifying the finish of an operation happens during wait_event_freezable_timeout()" -- that's how it's supposed to work. * The link at the "Closes:" tag appears to be an unrelated use-after-free in idxd. * It introduces a regression: dmatest threads are meant to be freezable and this change breaks that. fsldma: fix very broken 32-bit ppc ioread64 functionality Commit ef91bb196b0d ("kernel.h: Silence sparse warning in lower_32_bits") caused new warnings to show in the fsldma driver, but that commit was not to blame: it only exposed some very incorrect code that tried to take the low 32 bits of an address. That made no sense for multiple reasons, the most notable one being that that code was intentionally limited to only 32-bit ppc builds, so "only low 32 bits of an address" was completely nonsensical. There were no high bits to mask off to begin with. But even more importantly fropm a correctness standpoint, turning the address into an integer then caused the subsequent address arithmetic to be completely wrong too, and the "+1" actually incremented the address by one, rather than by four. Which again was incorrect, since the code was reading two 32-bit values and trying to make a 64-bit end result of it all. Surprisingly, the iowrite64() did not suffer from the same odd and incorrect model. This code has never worked, but it's questionable whether anybody cared: of the two users that actually read the 64-bit value (by way of some C preprocessor hackery and eventually the 'get_cdar()' inline function), one of them explicitly ignored the value, and the other one might just happen to work despite the incorrect value being read. This patch at least makes it not fail the build any more, and makes the logic superficially sane. Whether it makes any difference to the code _working_ or not shall remain a mystery. dmaengine: milbeaut-hdmac: Prefer kcalloc over open coded arithmetic As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes, and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar) function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors. So, use the purpose specific kcalloc() function instead of the argument size * count in the kzalloc() function. dmaengine: Explicitly include correct DT includes The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. dmaengine: stm32-mdma: correct desc prep when channel running commit 03f25d53b145bc2f7ccc82fc04e4482ed734f524 upstream. In case of the prep descriptor while the channel is already running, the CCR register value stored into the channel could already have its EN bit set. This would lead to a bad transfer since, at start transfer time, enabling the channel while other registers aren't yet properly set. To avoid this, ensure to mask the CCR_EN bit when storing the ccr value into the mdma channel structure. dmaengine: tegra-adma: Fix use-after-free stable inclusion from stable-6.6.105 commit 2efd07a7c369 category: bugfix issue: #223 CVE: CVE-2025-71162 Signed-off-by: zxl <1554188414@qq.com> ------------------------------- dmaengine: tegra-adma: Fix use-after-free A use-after-free bug exists in the Tegra ADMA driver when audio streams are terminated, particularly during XRUN conditions. The issue occurs when the DMA buffer is freed by tegra_adma_terminate_all() before the vchan completion tasklet finishes accessing it. The race condition follows this sequence: 1. DMA transfer completes, triggering an interrupt that schedules the completion tasklet (tasklet has not executed yet) 2. Audio playback stops, calling tegra_adma_terminate_all() which frees the DMA buffer memory via kfree() 3. The scheduled tasklet finally executes, calling vchan_complete() which attempts to access the already-freed memory Since tasklets can execute at any time after being scheduled, there is no guarantee that the buffer will remain valid when vchan_complete() runs. Fix this by properly synchronizing the virtual channel completion: - Calling vchan_terminate_vdesc() in tegra_adma_stop() to mark the descriptors as terminated instead of freeing the descriptor. - Add the callback tegra_adma_synchronize() that calls vchan_synchronize() which kills any pending tasklets and frees any terminated descriptors. dmaengine: uniphier-mdmac: replace zero-length array with flexible-array member The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.
