HID: bpf: actually free hdev memory after attaching a HID-BPF program commit 89be8aa5b0ecb3b729c7bcff64bb2af7921fec63 upstream. Turns out that I got my reference counts wrong and each successful bus_find_device() actually calls get_device(), and we need to manually call put_device(). Ensure each bus_find_device() gets a matching put_device() when releasing the bpf programs and fix all the error paths. If a firmware reset occurs right after a clock sync, the driver would wait 20 seconds before performing another clock sync with the firmware. This is particularly problematic with the introduction of the "load firmware from host" feature, where the driver performs a clock sync with the bootloader and then has to wait 20 seconds before syncing with the main firmware. This patch clears prev_sync immediately upon receiving an IPC reset, so that the main firmware and driver will perform a clock sync immediately after completing the IPC handshake. HID: input: map battery system charging HID descriptors with Battery System (0x85) Charging (0x44) usage are ignored and POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS_DISCHARGING is always reported to user space, even when the device is charging. Map this usage and when it is reported set the right charging status. In addition, add KUnit tests to make sure that the charging status is correctly set and reported. HID: a4tech: use A4_2WHEEL_MOUSE_HACK_B8 for A4TECH NB-95 This mouse has a horizontal wheel that requires special handling. Without this patch, the horizontal wheel acts like a vertical wheel. In the output of hidrd-convert for this mouse, there is a Usage (B8h) field. It corresponds to a byte in packets sent by the device that specifies which wheel generated an input event. Remove the fixup to make the Omoton KB066's F6 key F6 when not holding Fn. That was really just a hack to allow typing F6 in fnmode>0, and it didn't fix any of the other F keys that were likewise untypable in fnmode>0. Instead, because the Omoton's Fn key is entirely internal to the keyboard, completely disable Fn key translation when an Omoton is detected, which will prevent the hid-apple driver from interfering with the keyboard's built-in Fn key handling. All of the F keys, including F6, are then typable when Fn is held. The Omoton KB066 and the Apple A1255 both have HID product code 05ac:022c. The self-reported name of every original A1255 when they left the factory was "Apple Wireless Keyboard". By default, Mac OS changes the name to "<username>'s keyboard" when pairing with the keyboard, but Mac OS allows the user to set the internal name of Apple keyboards to anything they like. The Omoton KB066's name, on the other hand, is not configurable: It is always "Bluetooth Keyboard". Because that name is so generic that a user might conceivably use the same name for a real Apple keyboard, detect Omoton keyboards based on both having that exact name and having HID product code 022c. HID: Fix assumption that devices have inputs The syzbot fuzzer found a slab-out-of-bounds write bug in the hid-gaff driver. The problem is caused by the driver's assumption that the device must have an input report. While this will be true for all normal HID input devices, a suitably malicious device can violate the assumption. The same assumption is present in over a dozen other HID drivers. This patch fixes them by checking that the list of hid_inputs for the hid_device is nonempty before allowing it to be used. hid: bigben_probe(): validate report count bigben_probe() does not validate that the output report has the needed report values in the first field. A malicious device registering a report with one field and a single value causes an head OOB write in bigben_worker() when accessing report_field->value[1] to report_field->value[7]. hid: cp2112: Fix IRQ shutdown stopping polling for all IRQs on chip [ Upstream commit dc3115e6c5d9863ec1a9ff1acf004ede93c34361 ] Previously cp2112_gpio_irq_shutdown() always cancelled the gpio_poll_worker, even if other IRQs were still active, and did not set the gpio_poll flag to false. This resulted in any call to _shutdown() resulting in interrupts no longer functioning on the chip until a _remove() occurred (a.e. the cp2112 is unplugged or system rebooted). Only cancel polling if all IRQs are disabled/masked, and correctly set the gpio_poll flag, allowing polling to restart when an interrupt is next enabled. HID: cypress: Support Varmilo Keyboards' media hotkeys The Varmilo VA104M Keyboard (04b4:07b1, reported as Varmilo Z104M) exposes media control hotkeys as a USB HID consumer control device, but these keys do not work in the current (5.8-rc1) kernel due to the incorrect HID report descriptor. Fix the problem by modifying the internal HID report descriptor. More specifically, the keyboard report descriptor specifies the logical boundary as 572~10754 (0x023c ~ 0x2a02) while the usage boundary is specified as 0~10754 (0x00 ~ 0x2a02). This results in an incorrect interpretation of input reports, causing inputs to be ignored. By setting the Logical Minimum to zero, we align the logical boundary with the Usage ID boundary. Some notes: * There seem to be multiple variants of the VA104M keyboard. This patch specifically targets 04b4:07b1 variant. * The device works out-of-the-box on Windows platform with the generic consumer control device driver (hidserv.inf). This suggests that Windows either ignores the Logical Minimum/Logical Maximum or interprets the Usage ID assignment differently from the linux implementation; Maybe there are other devices out there that only works on Windows due to this problem? HID: elecom: add support for TrackBall 056E:011C Make function buttons on ELECOM M-HT1DRBK trackball mouse work. This model has two devices with different device IDs (010D and 011C). Both of them misreports the number of buttons as 5 in the report descriptor, even though they have 8 buttons. hid-elecom overwrites the report to fix them, but supports only on 010D and does not work on 011C. This patch fixes 011C in the similar way but with specialized position parameters. In fact, it is sufficient to rewrite only 17th byte (05 -> 08). However I followed the existing way. For report ID 2, there is a mismatch between Logical Minimum and Usage Minimum in the array that reports keycodes. The offending portion of the descriptor: (from hid-decode) 0x95, 0x05, // Report Count (5) 30 0x75, 0x08, // Report Size (8) 32 0x15, 0x00, // Logical Minimum (0) 34 0x25, 0x65, // Logical Maximum (101) 36 0x05, 0x07, // Usage Page (Keyboard) 38 0x19, 0x01, // Usage Minimum (1) 40 0x29, 0x65, // Usage Maximum (101) 42 0x81, 0x00, // Input (Data,Arr,Abs) 44 This bug shifts all programmed keycodes up by 1. Importantly, this causes "empty" array indexes of 0x00 to be interpreted as 0x01, ErrorRollOver. The presence of ErrorRollOver causes the system to ignore all keypresses from the endpoint and breaks the ability to use the programmable buttons. Setting byte 41 to 0x00 fixes this, and causes keycodes to be interpreted correctly. Also, USB_VENDOR_ID_GLORIOUS is changed to USB_VENDOR_ID_SINOWEALTH, and a new ID for Laview Technology is added. Glorious seems to be white-labeling controller boards or mice from these vendors. There isn't a single canonical vendor ID for Glorious products. Note: the kernel currently does not parse any optional HID class descriptors, only the mandatory report descriptor. Update all references to member element desc[0] to rpt_desc. Add test to verify bLength and bNumDescriptors values are valid. Replace the for loop with direct access to the mandatory HID class descriptor member for the report descriptor. This eliminates the possibility of getting an out-of-bounds fault. Add a warning message if the HID descriptor contains any unsupported optional HID class descriptors. HID: input: map battery system charging HID descriptors with Battery System (0x85) Charging (0x44) usage are ignored and POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS_DISCHARGING is always reported to user space, even when the device is charging. Map this usage and when it is reported set the right charging status. In addition, add KUnit tests to make sure that the charging status is correctly set and reported. HID: check for valid USB device for many HID drivers Many HID drivers assume that the HID device assigned to them is a USB device as that was the only way HID devices used to be able to be created in Linux. However, with the additional ways that HID devices can be created for many different bus types, that is no longer true, so properly check that we have a USB device associated with the HID device before allowing a driver that makes this assumption to claim it. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. HID: Fix assumption that devices have inputs The syzbot fuzzer found a slab-out-of-bounds write bug in the hid-gaff driver. The problem is caused by the driver's assumption that the device must have an input report. While this will be true for all normal HID input devices, a suitably malicious device can violate the assumption. The same assumption is present in over a dozen other HID drivers. This patch fixes them by checking that the list of hid_inputs for the hid_device is nonempty before allowing it to be used. The driver was tested while also using the UART of the chip. Setting and reading the GPIOs has no effect on the UART communication. However, a reset is triggered after the CONFIGURE command. If the GPIO Direction is constantly changed, this will affect the communication at low baud rates. This is a hardware problem of the MCP2200 and is not caused by the driver. HID: mf: add support for 0079:1846 Mayflash/Dragonrise USB Gamecube Adapter Mayflash/Dragonrise seems to have yet another device ID for one of their Gamecube controller adapters. Previous to this commit, the adapter registered only one /dev/input/js* device, and all controller inputs (from any controller) were mapped to this device. This patch defines the 1846 USB device ID and enables the HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT quirk for it, which fixes that (with the patch, four /dev/input/js* devices are created, one for each of the four controller ports). HID: microsoft: Add rumble support to latest xbox controllers Currently, rumble is only supported via bluetooth on a single xbox controller, called 'model 1708'. On the back of the device, it's named 'wireless controller for xbox one'. However, in 2021, Microsoft released a firmware update for this controller. As part of this update, the HID descriptor of the device changed. The product ID was also changed from 0x02fd to 0x0b20. On this controller, rumble was supported via hid-microsoft, which matched against the old product id (0x02fd). As a result, the firmware update broke rumble support on this controller. So simply adding new product id is sufficient to bring back this support. After discussing further with the xbox team, it was pointed out that another xbox controller, xbox elite series 2, can be supported in a similar way. Add rumble support for all of these devices in this patch. Two of the devices have received firmware updates that caused their product id's to change. Both old and new firmware versions of these devices were tested. The tested controllers are: 1. 'wireless controller for xbox one', model 1708 2. 'xbox wireless controller', model 1914. This is also sometimes referred to as 'xbox series S|X'. 3. 'elite series 2', model 1797. The tested configurations are: 1. model 1708, pid 0x02fd (old firmware) 2. model 1708, pid 0x0b20 (new firmware) 3. model 1914, pid 0x0b13 4. model 1797, pid 0x0b05 (old firmware) 5. model 1797, pid 0x0b22 (new firmware) I verified rumble support on both bluetooth and usb. media: rc: harmonize infrared durations to microseconds rc-core kapi uses nanoseconds for infrared durations for receiving, and microseconds for sending. The uapi already uses microseconds for both, so this patch does not change the uapi. Infrared durations do not need nanosecond resolution. IR protocols do not have durations shorter than about 100 microseconds. Some IR hardware offers 250 microseconds resolution, which is sufficient for most protocols. Better hardware has 50 microsecond resolution and is enough for every protocol I am aware off. Unify on microseconds everywhere. This simplifies the code since less conversion between microseconds and nanoseconds needs to be done. hid/picolcd: Remove flag FBINFO_FLAG_DEFAULT from fbdev driver The flag FBINFO_FLAG_DEFAULT is 0 and has no effect, as struct fbinfo.flags has been allocated to zero by framebuffer_alloc(). So do not set it. Flags should signal differences from the default values. The quirk logic did not keep track of the actual previous key so any key event occurring in less than or equal to 5ms was ignored. Remove PLT_QUIRK_FOLLOWED_OPPOSITE_VOLUME_KEYS quirk. It had the same logic issue as the double key quirk and was actually masking the as designed behavior of most of the headsets. It's occurrence should be minimized with the ALSA control naming quirk that is part of the patch set. HID: check for valid USB device for many HID drivers Many HID drivers assume that the HID device assigned to them is a USB device as that was the only way HID devices used to be able to be created in Linux. HID: redragon: fix num lock and caps lock LEDs The redragon asura keyboard registers two input devices. The initial commit 85455dd906d5 ("HID: redragon: Fix modifier keys for Redragon Asura Keyboard") considered this an error and prevented one of the devices from registering. However, once this is done the num lock and caps lock leds no longer toggle on and off, although the key functionality is not affected. This commit removes the code that prevents the input device registration and restores the num lock and caps lock LEDs. HID: i2c: let RMI devices decide what constitutes wakeup event HID-RMI is special in the sense that it does not carry HID events directly, but rather uses HID protocol as a wrapper/transport for RMI protocol. Therefore we should not assume that all data coming from the device via interrupt is associated with user activity and report wakeup event indiscriminately, but rather let HID-RMI do that when appropriate. HID-RMI devices tag responses to the commands issued by the host as RMI_READ_DATA_REPORT_ID whereas motion and other input events from the device are tagged as RMI_ATTN_REPORT_ID. Change hid-rmi to report wakeup events when receiving the latter packets. This allows ChromeOS to accurately identify wakeup source and make correct decision on the mode of the resume the system should take ("dark" where the display stays off vs normal one). HID: check for valid USB device for many HID drivers Many HID drivers assume that the HID device assigned to them is a USB device as that was the only way HID devices used to be able to be created in Linux. However, with the additional ways that HID devices can be created for many different bus types, that is no longer true, so properly check that we have a USB device associated with the HID device before allowing a driver that makes this assumption to claim it. HID: semitek: new driver for GK6X series keyboards A number of USB keyboards, using the Semitek firmware, are capable of handling arbitrary N-key rollover, but due to a buggy report descriptor, keys beyond the sixth cannot be detected by the generic HID driver. There are numerous hardware variants sold by several vendors, mostly using generic names like "GK61" for the 61-key version. These keyboards are sometimes known collectively as the "GK6X" series. The keyboard has three USB interfaces. Interface 0 uses the standard HID boot protocol, limited to eight modifier keys and six normal keys; interface 2 uses a custom report format that permits any number of keys. If more than six keys are pressed simultaneously, the first six are reported via interface 0 while subsequent keys are reported via interface 2. (Interface 1 uses a custom protocol for reprogramming the keyboard; this can be controlled through userspace tools and is not of concern for the present driver.) The report descriptor for interface 2, however, is incorrect (for report ID 0x04, the input field is marked as "array" rather than "variable".) The descriptor appears to be correct in other respects, so we simply replace the incorrect byte before parsing the descriptor. HID: hid-sensor-custom: Fix buffer overrun in device name On some platforms there are some platform devices created with invalid names. For example: "HID-SENSOR-INT-020b?.39.auto" instead of "HID-SENSOR-INT-020b.39.auto" This string include some invalid characters, hence it will fail to properly load the driver which will handle this custom sensor. Also it is a problem for some user space tools, which parses the device names from ftrace and dmesg. This is because the string, real_usage, is not NULL terminated and printed with %s to form device name. To address this, initialize the real_usage string with 0s. The hid-sensor-hub creates the individual device structs and transfers them to the created mfd platform-devices via the platform_data in the mfd_cell. Before e651a1da442a ("HID: hid-sensor-hub: Allow parallel synchronous reads") the sensor-hub was managing access centrally, with one "completion" in the hub's data structure, which needed to be finished on removal at the latest. The mentioned commit then moved this central management to each hid sensor device, resulting on a completion in each struct hid_sensor_hub_device. The remove procedure was adapted to go through all sensor devices and finish any pending "completion". What this didn't take into account was, platform_device_add_data() that is used by mfd_add{_hotplug}_devices() does a kmemdup on the submitted platform-data. So the data the platform-device gets is a copy of the original data, meaning that the device worked on a different completion than what sensor_hub_remove() currently wants to access. To fix that, use device_for_each_child() to go through each child-device similar to how mfd_remove_devices() unregisters the devices later and with that get the live platform_data to finalize the correct completion. hwrng: u2fzero - account for high quality RNG The U2F zero apparently has a real TRNG in it with maximum quality, not one with quality of "1", which was likely a misinterpretation of the field as a boolean. So remove the assignment entirely, so that we get the default quality setting. HID: uclogic: Fix a work->entry not empty bug in __queue_work() [ Upstream commit d45f72b3c275101a620dd69881343e0dda72f877 ] When CONFIG_HID_UCLOGIC=y and CONFIG_KUNIT_ALL_TESTS=y, launch kernel and then the below work->entry not empty bug occurs. In hid_test_uclogic_exec_event_hook_test(), the filter->work is not initialized to be added to p.event_hooks->list, and then the schedule_work() in uclogic_exec_event_hook() will call __queue_work(), which check whether the work->entry is empty and cause the below warning call trace. So call INIT_WORK() with a fake work to solve the issue. After applying this patch, the below work->entry not empty bug never occurs. HID: uclogic: Handle wireless device reconnection UGEEv2 tablets with battery can be connected using a USB cable or a USB Bluetooth dongle. When the Bluetooth dongle is used, the connection to that tablet can be lost because the tablet is out of the range of the receiver or because it was switched off using the switch placed in the back of the tablet's frame. After losing connection, the tablet is able to reconnect automatically and its firmware sends a special packet indicating that the device was reconnected. In response to this packet, the tablet needs to receive the same array of magic data it expects on probe to enable its interfaces. This patch implements a generic mechanism to hook raw events and schedule a work to perform any custom action. After a timer is set to this state, then it can no longer be re-armed. The following script was run to find all the trivial locations where del_timer() or del_timer_sync() is called in the same function that the object holding the timer is freed. It also ignores any locations where the timer->function is modified between the del_timer*() and the free(), as that is not considered a "trivial" case. The problem is caused by the driver's assumption that the device must have an input report. While this will be true for all normal HID input devices, a suitably malicious device can violate the assumption. The same assumption is present in over a dozen other HID drivers. This patch fixes them by checking that the list of hid_inputs for the hid_device is nonempty before allowing it to be used. HID: uhid: Over-ride the default maximum data buffer value with our own The default maximum data buffer size for this interface is UHID_DATA_MAX (4k). HID: wacom: remove the battery when the EKR is off Currently the EKR battery remains even after we stop getting information from the device. This can lead to a stale battery persisting indefinitely in userspace. The remote sends a heartbeat every 10 seconds. Delete the battery if we miss two heartbeats (after 21 seconds). Restore the battery once we see a heartbeat again.
