dt-bindings: net: dsa: nxp,sja1105: make spi-cpol optional for sja1110 [ Upstream commit 600f01dc4bd0c736b3ffea9f7976136d8bf1b136 ] Currently, the binding requires 'spi-cpha' for SJA1105 and 'spi-cpol' for SJA1110. However, the SJA1110 supports both SPI modes 0 and 2. Mode 2 (cpha=0, cpol=1) is used by the NXP LX2160 Bluebox 3. On the SolidRun i.MX8DXL HummingBoard Telematics, mode 0 is stable, while forcing mode 2 introduces CRC errors especially during bursts. Drop the requirement on spi-cpol for SJA1110. DT: net: document Ethernet bindings in one place This patch is an attempt to gather the Ethernet related bindings in one file, like it's done in the MMC and some other subsystems. It should save some of the trouble of documenting several properties over and over in each binding document, instead only making reference to the main file. I have used the Embedded Power Architecture(TM) Platform Requirements (ePAPR) standard as a base for the properties description, also documenting some ad-hoc properties that have been introduced over time despite having direct analogs in ePAPR. dt-bindings: net: fman: Add additional interface properties At the moment, mEMACs are configured almost completely based on the phy-connection-type. That is, if the phy interface is RGMII, it assumed that RGMII is supported. For some interfaces, it is assumed that the RCW/bootloader has set up the SerDes properly. This is generally OK, but restricts runtime reconfiguration. The actual link state is never reported. To address these shortcomings, the driver will need additional information. First, it needs to know how to access the PCS/PMAs (in order to configure them and get the link status). The SGMII PCS/PMA is the only currently-described PCS/PMA. Add the XFI and QSGMII PCS/PMAs as well. The XFI (and 10GBASE-KR) PCS/PMA is a c45 "phy" which sits on the same MDIO bus as SGMII PCS/PMA. By default they will have conflicting addresses, but they are also not enabled at the same time by default. Therefore, we can let the XFI PCS/PMA be the default when phy-connection-type is xgmii. This will allow for backwards-compatibility. QSGMII, however, cannot work with the current binding. This is because the QSGMII PCS/PMAs are only present on one MAC's MDIO bus. At the moment this is worked around by having every MAC write to the PCS/PMA addresses (without checking if they are present). This only works if each MAC has the same configuration, and only if we don't need to know the status. Because the QSGMII PCS/PMA will typically be located on a different MDIO bus than the MAC's SGMII PCS/PMA, there is no fallback for the QSGMII PCS/PMA. dt-bindings: net: phy: add bindings for the IC Plus Corp. IP101A/G PHYs The IP101A and IP101G series both have various models. Depending on the board implementation we need a special property for the IP101GR (32-pin LQFP package) PHY: pin 21 ("RXER/INTR_32") outputs the "receive error" signal by default (LOW means "normal operation", HIGH means that there's either a decoding error of the received signal or that the PHY is receiving LPI). This pin can also be switched to INTR32 mode, where the interrupt signal is routed to this pin. The other PHYs don't need this special handling because they have more pins available so the interrupt function gets a dedicated pin. This adds two properties to either select the "receive error" or "interrupt" function of pin 21. Not specifying any function means that the default set by the bootloader is used. This is required because the IP101GR cannot be differentiated between other IP101 PHYs as the PHY identification registers on all of these is 0x02430c54. The IP101G (sold as die only, without package) may suffer from the same issue depending on how it's integrated into a multi chip package by another manufacturer. If only the RXER/INTR_32 pin is routed then the users of the die-only variant may also have to explicitly configure the mode of hte RXER/INTR_32 pin. This is the reason why no "is-ip101gr" property was added. I have no evidence though which would confirm this theory - so the binding itself is independent of that. Also, the total number of clocks didn't match with the actual number of items listed. This happened because the vendor driver which served as a reference uses a high number of syscon phandles to access various parts of the SoC which wasn't acceptable upstream. Hence several parts which have never previously been supported (such SerDes PHY and USXGMII PCS) are going to be implemented by separate drivers. As a result the device tree will look much more sane. Quickly align the bindings with the upcoming reality of the drivers actually adding support for the remaining Ethernet-related features of the MT7988 SoC. Some DWMAC IPs support tx checksum offloading(coe) only for a few tx queues. DW xGMAC IP can be synthesized such that it can support tx coe only for a few initial tx queues. Also as Serge pointed out, for the DW QoS IP tx coe can be individually configured for each tx queue. This property is added to have sw fallback for checksum calculation if a tx queue doesn't support tx coe. dt-bindings: socfpga-dwmac: add "altr, socfpga-stmmac-a10-s10" binding Add the "altr,socfpga-stmmac-a10-s10" binding for Arria10/Agilex/Stratix10 implementation of the stmmac ethernet controller. On the Arria10, Agilex, and Stratix10 SoCs, there are a few differences from the Cyclone5 and Arria5: - The emac PHY setup bits are in separate registers. - The PTP reference clock select mask is different. - The register to enable the emac signal from FPGA is different. Because of these differences, the dwmac-socfpga glue logic driver will use this new binding to set the appropriate bits for PHY, PTP reference clock, and signal from FPGA.
