Declaration is '.. c:function:: void ieee80211_tx_status (struct ieee80211_hw *hw, struct sk_buff *skb)'. This is because there's a function named ieee80211_tx_status() and a struct named ieee80211_tx_status. This has been discussed previously but no solution found: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20220521114629.6ee9fc06@coco.lan/ There's also a bug open for three years with no solution in sight: https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx/pull/8313 So I guess we have no other solution than to a workaround this in the code, for example to rename the function to ieee80211_tx_status_skb() to avoid the name conflict. I got the idea for the name from ieee80211_tx_status_noskb() in which the skb is not provided as an argument, instead with ieee80211_tx_status_skb() the skb is provided. fpga: region: add owner module and take its refcount [ Upstream commit b7c0e1ecee403a43abc89eb3e75672b01ff2ece9 ] The current implementation of the fpga region assumes that the low-level module registers a driver for the parent device and uses its owner pointer to take the module's refcount. This approach is problematic since it can lead to a null pointer dereference while attempting to get the region during programming if the parent device does not have a driver. To address this problem, add a module owner pointer to the fpga_region struct and use it to take the module's refcount. Modify the functions for registering a region to take an additional owner module parameter and rename them to avoid conflicts. Use the old function names for helper macros that automatically set the module that registers the region as the owner. This ensures compatibility with existing low-level control modules and reduces the chances of registering a region without setting the owner. Also, update the documentation to keep it consistent with the new interface for registering an fpga region. nvdimm/btt: Handle preemption in BTT lane acquisition [ Upstream commit 8d4b989d9c9afe5f185aa5853b666fc4617afe9e ] BTT lanes serialize access to per-lane metadata and workspace state during BTT I/O. The btt-check unit test reports data mismatches during BTT writes due to a race in lane acquisition that can lead to silent data corruption. The existing lane model uses a spinlock together with a per-CPU recursion count. That recursion model stopped being valid after BTT lanes became preemptible: another task can run on the same CPU, observe a non-zero recursion count, bypass locking, and use the same lane concurrently. BTT lanes are also held across arena_write_bytes() calls. That path reaches nsio_rw_bytes(), which flushes writes with nvdimm_flush(). Some provider flush callbacks can sleep, making a spinlock the wrong primitive for the lane lifetime. Replace the spinlock-based recursion model with a dynamically allocated per-lane mutex array and take the lane lock unconditionally. Add might_sleep() to catch any future atomic-context caller. Found with the ndctl unit test btt-check.sh. PCI: Move Resizable BAR code to rebar.c [ Upstream commit 9f71938cd77f32a448f40a288e409eca60e55486 ] For lack of a better place to put it, Resizable BAR code has been placed inside pci.c and setup-res.c that do not use it for anything. Upcoming changes are going to add more Resizable BAR related functions, increasing the code size. As pci.c is huge as is, move the Resizable BAR related code and the BAR resize code from setup-res.c to rebar.c. thermal: int340x: processor_thermal: Support power floor notifications Mainline: commit b473d6a9d68f5bc27c7e35f5c98172d5f2206039 ("thermal: int340x: processor_thermal: Support power floor notifications") from: v6.7-rc1 When the hardware reduces the power to the minimum possible, the power floor is notified via an interrupt. This can happen when user space requests a power limit via powercap RAPL interface, which forces the system to enter to the lowest power. This power floor indication can be used as a hint to resort to other methods of reducing power than via RAPL power limit. Before power floor status can be read or the firmware can trigger notifications regarding it, it needs to be configured via a mailbox command. The actual power floor status is read via bit 39 of MMIO offset 0x5B18 of the processor thermal PCI device. To show the current power floor status and get notification on a sysfs attribute, add 2 new attributes to /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:04.0/power_limits/ power_floor_enable : This attribute is present when power floor notifications are supported. This attribute allows to enable/disable power floor notifications. power_floor_status : This attribute is present when power floor notifications are supported. When enabled via power_floor_enable, this attribute shows the current power floor status. The power floor implementation provides interfaces which are called from the sysfs callbacks to enable/disable and read power floor status. It also provides two additional interfaces to check if the current processor thermal device interrupt is for power floor status and to send notifications to user space. drm: Implement DRM aperture helpers under video/ Implement DRM's aperture helpers under video/ for sharing with other sub-systems. Remove DRM-isms from the interface. The helpers track the ownership of framebuffer apertures and provide hand-over from firmware, such as EFI and VESA, to native graphics drivers. Other subsystems, such as fbdev and vfio, also have to maintain ownership of framebuffer apertures. Moving DRM's aperture helpers to a more public location allows all subsystems to interact with each other and share a common implementation. The aperture helpers are selected by the various firmware drivers within DRM and fbdev, and the VGA text-console driver. nvmem: core: introduce NVMEM layouts NVMEM layouts are used to generate NVMEM cells during runtime. Think of an EEPROM with a well-defined conent. For now, the content can be described by a device tree or a board file. But this only works if the offsets and lengths are static and don't change. One could also argue that putting the layout of the EEPROM in the device tree is the wrong place. Instead, the device tree should just have a specific compatible string. Right now there are two use cases: (1) The NVMEM cell needs special processing. E.g. if it only specifies a base MAC address offset and you need to add an offset, or it needs to parse a MAC from ASCII format or some proprietary format. (Post processing of cells is added in a later commit). (2) u-boot environment parsing. The cells don't have a particular offset but it needs parsing the content to determine the offsets and length. vfio-pci: Provide reviewers and acceptance criteria for variant drivers Device specific extensions for devices exposed to userspace through the vfio-pci-core library open both new functionality and new risks. Here we attempt to provided formalized requirements and expectations to ensure that future drivers both collaborate in their interaction with existing host drivers, as well as receive additional reviews from community members with experience in this area. vme: move back to staging The VME subsystem graduated from staging into a top-level subsystem in 2012, with commit db3b9e990e75 ("Staging: VME: move VME drivers out of staging") stating: The VME device drivers have not moved out yet due to some API questions they are still working through, that should happen soon, hopefully. However, this never happened: maintenance of drivers/vme effectively stopped in 2017, with all subsequent changes being treewide cleanups. No hardware driver remains in staging, only the limited user-level access, and I just removed one of the two bridge drivers and the only remaining board. drivers/staging/vme/devices/ was recently moved to drivers/staging/vme_user/, but as the vme_user driver is the only one remaining for this subsystem, it is easier to just move the remaining three source files into this directory rather than keeping the original hierarchy. platform/x86: wmi: Add documentation Add documentation for the WMI subsystem. The documentation describes both the ACPI WMI interface and the driver API for interacting with the WMI driver core. The information regarding the ACPI interface was retrieved from the Ubuntu kernel references and the Windows driver samples available on GitHub. The documentation is supposed to help driver developers writing WMI drivers, as many modern machines designed to run Windows provide an ACPI WMI interface.
