selftests/ftrace: Use $FUNCTION_FORK to reference kernel fork function Commit cad6967ac108 ("fork: introduce kernel_clone()") replaced "_do_fork()" with "kernel_clone()". The ftrace selftests reference the fork function in several of the tests. The rename will make the tests break, but if those names are changed in the tests, they would then break on older kernels. selftests/ftrace: check for do_sys_openat2 in user-memory test More recent libc implementations are now using openat/openat2 system calls so also add do_sys_openat2 to the tracing so that the test passes on these systems because do_sys_open may not be called. tracing/selftests: Fix kprobe event name test for .isra. functions commit 23a4b108accc29a6125ed14de4a044689ffeda78 upstream. The kprobe_eventname.tc test checks if a function with .isra. can have a kprobe attached to it. It loops through the kallsyms file for all the functions that have the .isra. name, and checks if it exists in the available_filter_functions file, and if it does, it uses it to attach a kprobe to it. The issue is that kprobes can not attach to functions that are listed more than once in available_filter_functions. With the latest kernel, the function that is found is: rapl_event_update.isra.0 # grep rapl_event_update.isra.0 /sys/kernel/tracing/available_filter_functions rapl_event_update.isra.0 rapl_event_update.isra.0 It is listed twice. This causes the attached kprobe to it to fail which in turn fails the test. Instead of just picking the function function that is found in available_filter_functions, pick the first one that is listed only once in available_filter_functions. selftests/ftrace: Add new test case which adds multiple consecutive probes in a function Commit 97f88a3d723162 ("powerpc/kprobes: Fix null pointer reference in arch_prepare_kprobe()") fixed a recent kernel oops that was caused as ftrace-based kprobe does not generate kprobe::ainsn::insn and it gets set to NULL. Add new test case kprobe_insn_boundary.tc which adds a kprobe at every byte within $FUNCTION_FORK up to an offset of 256 bytes, to be able to test potential issues with kprobes on successive instructions. The '|| continue' is added with the echo statement to ignore errors that are caused by trying to add kprobes to non probeable lines and continue with the test. selftests/ftrace: adjust offset for kprobe syntax error test [ Upstream commit 777f290ab328de333b85558bb6807a69a59b36ba ] In 'NOFENTRY_ARGS' test case for syntax check, any offset X of vfs_read+X except function entry offset (0) fits the criterion, even if that offset is not at instruction boundary, as the parser comes before probing. But with "ENDBR64" instruction on x86, offset 4 is treated as function entry. So, X can't be 4 as well. Thus, 8 was used as offset for the test case. On 64-bit powerpc though, any offset <= 16 can be considered function entry depending on build configuration (see arch_kprobe_on_func_entry() for implementation details). So, use vfs_read+20 to accommodate that scenario too. selftests/ftrace: Save kprobe_events to test log It may lead to kernel panic when execute the following testcase on mips: # cd tools/testing/selftests/ftrace # ./ftracetest test.d/kprobe/multiple_kprobes.tc A preliminary analysis shows that the issue is related with echo 1 > events/kprobes/enable after add the 256 probe points. In order to find the root cause, I want to verify which probe point has problem, so it is necessary to save kprobe_events to test log. selftests/ftrace: Fix probepoint testcase to ignore __pfx_* symbols Fix kprobe probepoint testcase to ignore __pfx_* prefix symbols. Those are introduced by commit b341b20d648b ("x86: Add prefix symbols for function padding") for identifying PADDING_BYTES of NOPs. selftests/ftrace: make kprobe profile testcase description unique Commit 32f6e5da83c7 ("selftests/ftrace: Add kprobe profile testcase") added a new kprobes testcase, but has a description which does not describe what the test case is doing and is duplicating the description of another test case. Therefore change the test case description, so it is unique and then allows easily to tell which test case actually passed or failed.
