selftests: forwarding: Fix bridge locked port test flakiness [ Upstream commit f97f1fcc96908c97a240ff6cb4474e155abfa0d7 ] The redirection test case fails in the netdev CI on debug kernels because an FDB entry is learned despite the presence of a tc filter that redirects incoming traffic [1]. I am unable to reproduce the failure locally, but I can see how it can happen given that learning is first enabled and only then the ingress tc filter is configured. On debug kernels the time window between these two operations is longer compared to regular kernels, allowing random packets to be transmitted and trigger learning. Fix by reversing the order and configure the ingress tc filter before enabling learning. selftests: forwarding: bridge_mdb_max: Fix failing test with old libnet As explained in commit 8bcfb4ae4d97 ("selftests: forwarding: Fix failing tests with old libnet"), old versions of libnet (used by mausezahn) do not use the "SO_BINDTODEVICE" socket option. For IP unicast packets, this can be solved by prefixing mausezahn invocations with "ip vrf exec". However, IP multicast packets do not perform routing and simply egress the bound device, which does not exist in this case. selftests: net: bridge_vlan_mcast: wait for h1 before querier check [ Upstream commit efaa71faf212324ecbf6d5339e9717fe53254f58 ] The querier-interval test adds h1 (currently a slave of the VRF created by simple_if_init) to a temporary bridge br1 acting as an outside IGMP querier. The kernel VRF driver (drivers/net/vrf.c) calls cycle_netdev() on every slave add and remove, toggling the interface admin-down then up. Phylink takes the PHY down during the admin-down half of that cycle. Since h1 and swp1 are cable-connected, swp1 also loses its link may need several seconds to re-negotiate. Use setup_wait_dev $h1 0 which waits for h1 to return to UP state, so the test can rely on the link being back up at this point. selftests: forwarding: devlink_lib: Wait for udev events after reloading [ Upstream commit f67a90a0c8f5b3d0acc18f10650d90fec44775f9 ] Lately, an additional locking was added by commit c0a40097f0bc ("drivers: core: synchronize really_probe() and dev_uevent()"). The locking protects dev_uevent() calling. This function is used to send messages from the kernel to user space. Uevent messages notify user space about changes in device states, such as when a device is added, removed, or changed. These messages are used by udev (or other similar user-space tools) to apply device-specific rules. After reloading devlink instance, udev events should be processed. This locking causes a short delay of udev events handling. One example for useful udev rule is renaming ports. 'forwading.config' can be configured to use names after udev rules are applied. Some tests run devlink_reload() and immediately use the updated names. This worked before the above mentioned commit was pushed, but now the delay of uevent messages causes that devlink_reload() returns before udev events are handled and tests fail. Adjust devlink_reload() to not assume that udev events are already processed when devlink reload is done, instead, wait for udev events to ensure they are processed before returning from the function. selftests: fib offload: use sensible tos values Although both iproute2 and the kernel accept 1 and 2 as tos values for new routes, those are invalid. These values only set ECN bits, which are ignored during IPv4 fib lookups. Therefore, no packet can actually match such routes. This selftest therefore only succeeds because it doesn't verify that the new routes do actually work in practice (it just checks if the routes are offloaded or not). The failure is caused by the fact that validate_linkmsg() is called before the net device is registered, when it still does not have an 'inet6_dev'. selftests: forwarding: Fix failing tests with old libnet The custom multipath hash tests use mausezahn in order to test how changes in various packet fields affect the packet distribution across the available nexthops. The tool uses the libnet library for various low-level packet construction and injection. When the option is not set, packets are not routed according to the table associated with the VRF master device and tests fail. Fix this by prefixing the command with "ip vrf exec", which will cause the route lookup to occur in the VRF routing table. This makes the tests pass regardless of the libnet library version. selftests: net: local_termination: Wait for interfaces to come up [ Upstream commit 57531b3416448d1ced36a2a974a4085ec43d57b0 ] It seems that most of the tests prepare the interfaces once before the test run (setup_prepare()), rely on setup_wait() to wait for link and only then run the test(s). local_termination brings the physical interfaces down and up during test run but never wait for them to come up. If the auto-negotiation takes some seconds, first test packets are being lost, which leads to false-negative test results. Use setup_wait() in run_test() to make sure auto-negotiation has been completed after all simple_if_init() calls on physical interfaces and test packets will not be lost because of the race against link establishment. selftests: forwarding: mirror_gre_*: Disable IPv6 autogen on bridges In a future patch, mlxsw will start adding RIFs to uppers of front panel port netdevices, if they have an IP address. At the time that the front panel port is enslaved to the bridge, the bridge MAC address does not have the same prefix as other interfaces in the system. On Nvidia Spectrum-1 machines all the RIFs have to have the same 38-bit MAC address prefix. Since the bridge does not obey this limitation, the RIF cannot be created, and the enslavement attempt is vetoed on the grounds of the configuration not being offloadable. These two selftests however check mirroring traffic to a gretap netdevice. The bridge here does not participate in routing traffic and the IP address or the RIF are irrelevant. Fix by disabling automatic IPv6 address generation for the HW-offloaded bridges in these selftests, thus exempting them from mlxsw router attention. Since the bridges are only used for L2 forwarding, this change should not hinder usefulness of this selftest for testing SW datapath or HW datapaths in other devices. selftests: forwarding: Fix race condition in mirror installation When mirroring to a gretap in hardware the device expects to be programmed with the egress port and all the encapsulating headers. This requires the driver to resolve the path the packet will take in the software data path and program the device accordingly. selftests: mirror_gre_changes: Tighten up the TTL test match This test verifies whether the encapsulated packets have the correct configured TTL. It does so by sending ICMP packets through the test topology and mirroring them to a gretap netdevice. On a busy host however, more than just the test ICMP packets may end up flowing through the topology, get mirrored, and counted. This leads to potential spurious failures as the test observes much more mirrored packets than the sent test packets, and assumes a bug. Fix this by tightening up the mirror action match. selftests: forwarding: mirror_gre_flower: Fix test result handling The global variable RET needs to be initialized before each call to log_test. This test case sets it once before running the tests, but then calls log_tests for every individual test. Thus a failure in one of the tests causes spurious failures in follow-up tests as well. Fix by moving the initialization of RET from test_all() to full_test_span_gre_dir_acl(), a function that implements the test. Signed-off-by: Petr Machata <petrm@mellanox.com> Signed-off-by: David S. This fix uncovered several issues in packet matching in mirroring selftests: - in mirror_gre_bridge_1d_vlan.sh and mirror_gre_vlan_bridge_1q.sh, the vlan_ethtype match is copied around as "ip", even as some of the tests are running over ip6gretap. This is fixed by using an "ipv6" for vlan_ethtype in the ip6gretap tests. - in mirror_gre_changes.sh, a filter to count GRE packets is set up to match TTL of 50. This used to trigger in the offloaded datapath, where the envelope TTL was matched, but not in the software datapath, which considered TTL of the inner packet. At the time that the front panel port is enslaved to the bridge, the bridge MAC address does not have the same prefix as other interfaces in the system. selftests: net: no_forwarding: fix VID for $swp2 in one_bridge_two_pvids() test [ Upstream commit 9f49d14ec41ce7be647028d7d34dea727af55272 ] Currently, the second bridge command overwrites the first one. Fix this by adding this VID to the interface behind $swp2. The one_bridge_two_pvids() test intends to check that there is no leakage of traffic between bridge ports which have a single VLAN - the PVID VLAN. Because of a typo, port $swp1 is configured with a PVID twice (second command overwrites first), and $swp2 isn't configured at all (and since the bridge vlan_default_pvid property is set to 0, this port will not have a PVID at all, so it will drop all untagged and priority-tagged traffic). So, instead of testing the configuration that was intended, we are testing a different one, where one port has PVID 2 and the other has no PVID. This incorrect version of the test should also pass, but is ineffective for its purpose, so fix the typo. This typo has an impact on results of the test, potentially leading to wrong conclusions regarding the functionality of a network device. ETS Qdisc is supposed to allocate bandwidth according to the DRR algorithm and given weights. After running the traffic for a while, counters are compared for each stream to check that the expected ratio is in fact observed. In order for the DRR process to kick in, a traffic bottleneck must exist in the first place. In slow path, such bottleneck can be implemented by wrapping the ETS Qdisc inside a TBF or other shaper. This might however make the configuration unoffloadable. Instead, on HW datapath, the bottleneck would be set up by lowering port speed and configuring shared buffer suitably. Therefore the test is structured as a core component that implements the testing, with two wrapper scripts that implement the details of slow path resp. fast path configuration. selftests: forwarding: pedit_dsfield: Disable IPv6 autogen on a bridge In a future patch, mlxsw will start adding RIFs to uppers of front panel port netdevices, if they have an IP address. The selftest itself however checks whether skbedit changes packet priority as appropriate. The bridge thus does not need to participate in routing traffic and the IP address or the RIF are irrelevant. Fix by disabling automatic IPv6 address generation for the HW-offloaded bridge in this selftest, thus exempting it from mlxsw router attention. Since the bridge is only used for L2 forwarding, this change should not hinder usefulness of this selftest for testing SW datapath or HW datapaths in other devices. net/sched: act_mirred: use the backlog for mirred ingress [ Upstream commit 52f671db18823089a02f07efc04efdb2272ddc17 ] The test Davide added in commit ca22da2fbd69 ("act_mirred: use the backlog for nested calls to mirred ingress") hangs our testing VMs every 10 or so runs, with the familiar tcp_v4_rcv -> tcp_v4_rcv deadlock reported by lockdep. The problem as previously described by Davide (see Link) is that if we reverse flow of traffic with the redirect (egress -> ingress) we may reach the same socket which generated the packet. And we may still be holding its socket lock. The common solution to such deadlocks is to put the packet in the Rx backlog, rather than run the Rx path inline. Do that for all egress -> ingress reversals, not just once we started to nest mirred calls. In the past there was a concern that the backlog indirection will lead to loss of error reporting / less accurate stats. But the current workaround does not seem to address the issue. Instead of making the complexity of the arguments passed to phc2sys_start() explode, we can let it figure out the sync direction automatically, based on ptp4l's port states. Towards that goal, pass just the path to the desired ptp4l instance's UNIX domain socket, and remove the $if_name argument (from which it derives the PHC). Also adapt the one caller from the ocelot psfp.sh test. In the case of psfp.sh, phc2sys_start is able to properly figure out that CLOCK_REALTIME is the source clock and swp1's PHC is the destination, because of the way in which ptp4l_start for the UDS_ADDRESS_SWP1 was called: with slave_only=false, so it will always win the BMCA and always become the sync master between itself and $h1. selftests: forwarding: Add VxLAN tests with a VLAN-aware bridge for IPv6 The tests are very similar to their VLAN-unaware counterpart (vxlan_bridge_1d_ipv6.sh and vxlan_bridge_1d_port_8472_ipv6.sh), but instead of using multiple VLAN-unaware bridges, a single VLAN-aware bridge is used with multiple VLANs. selftests: forwarding: Add missing 'rp_filter' configuration When 'rp_filter' is configured in strict mode (1) the tests fail because packets received from the macvlan netdevs would not be forwarded through them on the reverse path. Fix this by disabling the 'rp_filter', meaning no source validation is performed. selftests: forwarding: Add a test for VxLAN symmetric routing with IPv6 In a similar fashion to the asymmetric test, add a test for symmetric routing. In symmetric routing both the ingress and egress VTEPs perform routing in the overlay network into / from the VxLAN tunnel. Packets in different directions use the same VNI - the L3 VNI. Different tenants (VRFs) use different L3 VNIs. Add a test which is similar to the existing IPv4 test to check IPv6.
