selftests: af_unix: add USER_NS config [ Upstream commit f8b1abed736111f914b2c567d9a3db1f71e788e8 ] This is required to use unshare(CLONE_NEWUSER). This has not been seen on NIPA before, because the 'af_unix' tests are executed with the 'net' ones, merging their config files. USER_NS is present in tools/testing/selftests/net/config. This issue is visible when only the af_unix config is used on top of the default one. This is the recommended way to execute selftest targets. selftests: net: bridge_vlan_mcast: wait for h1 before querier check [ Upstream commit efaa71faf212324ecbf6d5339e9717fe53254f58 ] The querier-interval test adds h1 (currently a slave of the VRF created by simple_if_init) to a temporary bridge br1 acting as an outside IGMP querier. The kernel VRF driver (drivers/net/vrf.c) calls cycle_netdev() on every slave add and remove, toggling the interface admin-down then up. Phylink takes the PHY down during the admin-down half of that cycle. Since h1 and swp1 are cable-connected, swp1 also loses its link may need several seconds to re-negotiate. Use setup_wait_dev $h1 0 which waits for h1 to return to UP state, so the test can rely on the link being back up at this point. selftests: mptcp: drop nanoseconds width specifier [ Upstream commit 01ff78e4b3d98689184c52d97f9575dfbdc3b10f ] Using the format specifier +%s%3N with GNU date is honoured, and only prints 3 digits of the nanoseconds portion of the seconds since epoch, which corresponds to the milliseconds. The uutils implementation of date currently does not honour this, and always prints all 9 digits. This is a known issue [1], but can be worked around by adapting this test to use nanoseconds instead of microseconds, and then divide it by 1e6. This fix is similar to what has been done on systemd side [2], and it is needed to run the selftests on Ubuntu 26.04, containing uutils 0.8.0. Note that the Fixes tag is there even if this patch doesn't fix an issue in the kernel selftests, but it is useful for those using uutils 0.8.0. selftests: openvswitch: add config file [ Upstream commit 441a820ccef9af80a9ac5a4c85b9c396e595967c ] The kselftests doc mentions that a config file should be present "if a test needs specific kernel config options enabled". This selftest requires some kernel config, but no config file was provided. We could say that a sub-target could use the parent's config file, but the kselftests doc doesn't mention anything about that. Plus the net/openvswitch target is the only net target without a config file. Here is a new config file, which is a trimmed version of the net one, with hopefully the minimal required kconfig on top of 'make defconfig'. The Fixes tag points to the introduction of the net/openvswitch target, just to help validating this target on stable kernels. ipv6: Fix soft lockups in fib6_select_path under high next hop churn commit d9ccb18f83ea2bb654289b6ecf014fd267cc988b upstream. Soft lockups have been observed on a cluster of Linux-based edge routers located in a highly dynamic environment. Using the bird service, these routers continuously update BGP-advertised routes due to frequently changing nexthop destinations, while also managing significant IPv6 traffic. The lockups occur during the traversal of the multipath circular linked-list in the fib6_select_path function, particularly while iterating through the siblings in the list. The issue typically arises when the nodes of the linked list are unexpectedly deleted concurrently on a different core—indicated by their 'next' and 'previous' elements pointing back to the node itself and their reference count dropping to zero. This results in an infinite loop, leading to a soft lockup that triggers a system panic via the watchdog timer. Apply RCU primitives in the problematic code sections to resolve the issue. Where necessary, update the references to fib6_siblings to annotate or use the RCU APIs. Include a test script that reproduces the issue. The script periodically updates the routing table while generating a heavy load of outgoing IPv6 traffic through multiple iperf3 clients. It consistently induces infinite soft lockups within a couple of minutes. selftests: net: amt: wait longer for connection before sending packets [ Upstream commit 04708606fd7bdc34b69089a4ff848ff36d7088f9 ] Both send_mcast4() and send_mcast6() use sleep 2 to wait for the tunnel connection between the gateway and the relay, and for the listener socket to be created in the LISTENER namespace. ipv4: Fix incorrect TOS in fibmatch route get reply [ Upstream commit f036e68212c11e5a7edbb59b5e25299341829485 ] The TOS value that is returned to user space in the route get reply is the one with which the lookup was performed ('fl4->flowi4_tos'). This is fine when the matched route is configured with a TOS as it would not match if its TOS value did not match the one with which the lookup was performed. However, matching on TOS is only performed when the route's TOS is not zero. It is therefore possible to have the kernel incorrectly return a non-zero TOS: # ip link add name dummy1 up type dummy # ip address add 192.0.2.1/24 dev dummy1 # ip route get fibmatch 192.0.2.2 tos 0xfc 192.0.2.0/24 tos 0x1c dev dummy1 proto kernel scope link src 192.0.2.1 Fix by instead returning the DSCP field from the FIB result structure which was populated during the route lookup. Output after the patch: # ip link add name dummy1 up type dummy # ip address add 192.0.2.1/24 dev dummy1 # ip route get fibmatch 192.0.2.2 tos 0xfc 192.0.2.0/24 dev dummy1 proto kernel scope link src 192.0.2.1 Extend the existing selftests to not only verify that the correct route is returned, but that it is also returned with correct "tos" value (or without it). selftests: net: Add FIN_ACK processing order related latency spike test This commit adds a test for FIN_ACK process races related reconnection latency spike issues. The issue has described and solved by the previous commit ("tcp: Reduce SYN resend delay if a suspicous ACK is received"). The test program is configured with a server and a client process. The server creates and binds a socket to a port that dynamically allocated, listen on it, and start a infinite loop. Inside the loop, it accepts connection, reads 4 bytes from the socket, and closes the connection. The client is constructed as an infinite loop. Inside the loop, it creates a socket with LINGER and NODELAY option, connect to the server, send 4 bytes data, try read some data from server. After the read() returns, it measure the latency from the beginning of this loop to this point and if the latency is larger than 1 second (spike), print a message. selftests/net: use destination options instead of hop-by-hop [ Upstream commit f8e8486702abb05b8c734093aab1606af0eac068 ] The GRO self-test, gro.c, currently constructs IPv6 packets containing a Hop-by-Hop Options header (IPPROTO_HOPOPTS) to ensure the GRO path correctly handles IPv6 extension headers. However, network elements may be configured to drop packets with the Hop-by-Hop Options header (HBH). This causes the self-test to fail in environments where such network elements are present. To improve the robustness and reliability of this test in diverse network environments, switch from using IPPROTO_HOPOPTS to IPPROTO_DSTOPTS (Destination Options). The Destination Options header is less likely to be dropped by intermediate routers and still serves the core purpose of the test: validating GRO's handling of an IPv6 extension header. This change ensures the test can execute successfully without being incorrectly failed by network policies outside the kernel's control. Willem de Bruijn pointed out that this is an actual bug, and suggested the fix that I'm using here (thanks!). 2) The addr_len is used uninitialized, but only in the assert case, which bails out, so this is harmless. 3) The family variable in add_listener() is only used uninitialized in the error case (neither IPv4 nor IPv6 is specified), so it's also harmless. ipv6: Fix soft lockups in fib6_select_path under high next hop churn commit d9ccb18f83ea2bb654289b6ecf014fd267cc988b upstream. It consistently induces infinite soft lockups within a couple of minutes. selftests/net: Ensure assert() triggers in psock_tpacket.c [ Upstream commit bc4c0a48bdad7f225740b8e750fdc1da6d85e1eb ] The get_next_frame() function in psock_tpacket.c was missing a return statement in its default switch case, leading to a compiler warning. This was caused by a bug_on(1) call, which is defined as an assert(), being compiled out because NDEBUG is defined during the build. Instead of adding a return NULL; which would silently hide the error and could lead to crashes later, this change restores the original author's intent. By adding #undef NDEBUG before including <assert.h>, we ensure the assertion is active and will cause the test to abort if this unreachable code is ever executed. Adding the definition to the test program avoids a compilation failure that gets in the way of building tools/testing/selftests/net. The test itself will work once the definition is added; either skipping due to DCCP not being configured in the kernel under test or passing, so there are no other more up-to-date glibc dependencies here it seems beyond that missing definition. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. selftests: net: give more time for GRO aggregation [ Upstream commit 89abe628375301fedb68770644df845d49018d8b ] The gro.sh test-case relay on the gro_flush_timeout to ensure that all the segments belonging to any given batch are properly aggregated. selftests/net: Add sk_bind_sendto_listen and sk_connect_zero_addr This patch adds 2 new tests: sk_bind_sendto_listen and sk_connect_zero_addr. The sk_bind_sendto_listen test exercises the path where a socket's rcv saddr changes after it has been added to the binding tables, and then a listen() on the socket is invoked. The listen() should succeed. selftest: Don't reuse port for SO_INCOMING_CPU test. [ Upstream commit 97de5a15edf2d22184f5ff588656030bbb7fa358 ] Jakub reported that ASSERT_EQ(cpu, i) in so_incoming_cpu.c seems to fire somewhat randomly. # # RUN so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3 ... # # so_incoming_cpu.c:191:test3:Expected cpu (32) == i (0) # # test3: Test terminated by assertion # # FAIL so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3 # not ok 3 so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3 When the test failed, not-yet-accepted CLOSE_WAIT sockets received SYN with a "challenging" SEQ number, which was sent from an unexpected CPU that did not create the receiver. The test basically does: 1. for each cpu: 1-1. create a server 1-2. set SO_INCOMING_CPU 2. for each cpu: 2-1. set cpu affinity 2-2. create some clients 2-3. let clients connect() to the server on the same cpu 2-4. close() clients 3. for each server: 3-1. accept() all child sockets 3-2. check if all children have the same SO_INCOMING_CPU with the server The root cause was the close() in 2-4. and net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse. In a loop of 2., close() changed the client state to FIN_WAIT_2, and the peer transitioned to CLOSE_WAIT. In another loop of 2., connect() happened to select the same port of the FIN_WAIT_2 socket, and it was reused as the default value of net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse is 2. As a result, the new client sent SYN to the CLOSE_WAIT socket from a different CPU, and the receiver's sk_incoming_cpu was overwritten with unexpected CPU ID. Also, the SYN had a different SEQ number, so the CLOSE_WAIT socket responded with Challenge ACK. The new client properly returned RST and effectively killed the CLOSE_WAIT socket. This way, all clients were created successfully, but the error was detected later by 3-2., ASSERT_EQ(cpu, i). To avoid the failure, let's make sure that (i) the number of clients is less than the number of available ports and (ii) such reuse never happens. selftests/net: Use kselftest skip code for skipped tests There are several test cases in the net directory are still using exit 0 or exit 1 when they need to be skipped. Use kselftest framework skip code instead so it can help us to distinguish the return status. Criterion to filter out what should be fixed in net directory: grep -r "exit [01]" -B1 | grep -i skip This change might cause some false-positives if people are running these test scripts directly and only checking their return codes, which will change from 0 to 4. However I think the impact should be small as most of our scripts here are already using this skip code. And there will be no such issue if running them with the kselftest framework. selftests/net: fix EVP_MD_CTX leak in tcp_mmap [ Upstream commit f4ef35efbb49527293309f668ea73ec5de9b8e7a ] In tcp_mmap.c, both child_thread() and main() allocate an EVP_MD_CTX via EVP_MD_CTX_new() when integrity checking is enabled, but neither function releases the context. child_thread() misses the free in its common cleanup block, and main() returns without freeing the context. Due to the linkwatch delayed work the carrier change is not always reflected fast enough to the bridge driver and packets are not forwarded as the test expects, resulting in failures [1]. selftests: test_bridge_neigh_suppress.sh: Fix failures due to duplicate MAC [ Upstream commit 9a169c267e946b0f47f67e8ccc70134708ccf3d4 ] When creating the topology for the test, three veth pairs are created in the initial network namespace before being moved to one of the network namespaces created by the test. On systems where systemd-udev uses MACAddressPolicy=persistent (default since systemd version 242), this will result in some net devices having the same MAC address since they were created with the same name in the initial network namespace. In turn, this leads to arping / ndisc6 failing since packets are dropped by the bridge's loopback filter. Fix by creating each net device in the correct network namespace instead of moving it there from the initial network namespace. selftests: vxlan_mdb: Fix failures with old libnet [ Upstream commit f1425529c33def8b46faae4400dd9e2bbaf16a05 ] Locally generated IP multicast packets (such as the ones used in the test) do not perform routing and simply egress the bound device. However, as explained in commit 8bcfb4ae4d97 ("selftests: forwarding: Fix failing tests with old libnet"), old versions of libnet (used by mausezahn) do not use the "SO_BINDTODEVICE" socket option. Specifically, the library started using the option for IPv6 sockets in version 1.1.6 and for IPv4 sockets in version 1.2. This explains why on Ubuntu - which uses version 1.1.6 - the IPv4 overlay tests are failing whereas the IPv6 ones are passing. Fix by specifying the source and destination MAC of the packets which will cause mausezahn to use a packet socket instead of an IP socket. udp: gso: do not drop small packets when PMTU reduces [ Upstream commit 235174b2bed88501fda689c113c55737f99332d8 ] Commit 4094871db1d6 ("udp: only do GSO if # of segs > 1") avoided GSO for small packets. But the kernel currently dismisses GSO requests only after checking MTU/PMTU on gso_size. This means any packets, regardless of their payload sizes, could be dropped when PMTU becomes smaller than requested gso_size. We encountered this issue in production and it caused a reliability problem that new QUIC connection cannot be established before PMTU cache expired, while non GSO sockets still worked fine at the same time. Ideally, do not check any GSO related constraints when payload size is smaller than requested gso_size, and return EMSGSIZE instead of EINVAL on MTU/PMTU check failure to be more specific on the error cause. selftests/net: change shebang to bash to support "source" [ Upstream commit 05d92cb0e919239c29b3a26da1f76f1e18fed7d3 ] The patch set [1] added a general lib.sh in net selftests, and converted several test scripts to source the lib.sh. unicast_extensions.sh (converted in [1]) and pmtu.sh (converted in [2]) have a /bin/sh shebang which may point to various shells in different distributions, but "source" is only available in some of them. For example, "source" is a built-it function in bash, but it cannot be used in dash. Refer to other scripts that were converted together, simply change the shebang to bash to fix the following issues when the default /bin/sh points to other shells. not ok 51 selftests: net: unicast_extensions.sh # exit=1 v1 -> v2: - Fix pmtu.sh which has the same issue as unicast_extensions.sh, suggested by Hangbin - Change the style of the "source" line to be consistent with other tests, suggested by Hangbin Link: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20231202020110.362433-1-liuhangbin@gmail.com/ [1] Link: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20231219094856.1740079-1-liuhangbin@gmail.com/ [2] Reported-by: kernel test robot <oliver.sang@intel.com> Fixes: 378f082eaf37 ("selftests/net: convert pmtu.sh to run it in unique namespace") Fixes: 0f4765d0b48d ("selftests/net: convert unicast_extensions.sh to run it in unique namespace") Signed-off-by: Yujie Liu <yujie.liu@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Przemek Kitszel <przemyslaw.kitszel@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Hangbin Liu <liuhangbin@gmail.com> Reviewed-by: Muhammad Usama Anjum <usama.anjum@collabora.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20231229131931.3961150-1-yujie.liu@intel.com Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Stable-dep-of: e71e016ad0f6 ("selftests: net: fix tcp listener handling in pmtu.sh") Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org> | 2 年前 | |
selftests: net: remove dependency on ebpf tests [ Upstream commit 98cb12eb52a780e682bea8372fdb2912c08132dd ] Several net tests requires an XDP program build under the ebpf directory, and error out if such program is not available. That makes running successful net test hard, let's duplicate into the net dir the [very small] program, re-using the existing rules to build it, and finally dropping the bogus dependency. selftests: net: vrf-xfrm-tests: change authentication and encryption algos The vrf-xfrm-tests tests use the hmac(md5) and cbc(des3_ede) algorithms for performing authentication and encryption, respectively. This causes the tests to fail when fips=1 is set, since these algorithms are not allowed in FIPS mode. Therefore, switch from hmac(md5) and cbc(des3_ede) to hmac(sha1) and cbc(aes), which are FIPS compliant. selftests: vrf_route_leaking: remove ipv6_ping_frag from default testing As the initial commit 1a01727676a8 ("selftests: Add VRF route leaking tests") said, the IPv6 MTU test fails as source address selection picking ::1. Every time we run the selftest this one report failed. There seems not much meaning to keep reporting a failure for 3 years that no one plan to fix/update. Let't just skip this one first. We can add it back when the issue fixed. Signed-off-by: Hangbin Liu <liuhangbin@gmail.com> Reviewed-by: David Ahern <dsahern@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. xfrm: Fix wraparound in xfrm_policy_addr_delta() Use three-way comparison for address components to avoid integer wraparound in the result of xfrm_policy_addr_delta(). This ensures that the search trees are built and traversed correctly. Treat IPv4 and IPv6 similarly by returning 0 when prefixlen == 0. Prefix /0 has only one equivalence class.
